I think the water pressure is fine, Wort. When I bought the house it had an old boiler & hot water tank, so also an electric shower as a proper shower couldn't be fitted (changing all the plumbing to add pumps & things).

The electric shower is a fairly decent one & does a good job of delivering hot water, it's just a really dismal flow in winter. & Probably much more expensive that one connected to the Combi.

I'm half thinking of keeping the electric one & fitting a tap mixer shower. It'll be a pain to remove it & make good the tiles behind it.

Caronc, it took me a long time in my house to get used to sitting in the lounge. I'd always potter about the kitchen or sit about in the bedroom. Mainly cos the lounge was unusable for the first 6 months whilst waiting for builders to start, & I just got used to watching TV in bed.

On the CFO front, pizzas were lovely. I had no garlic bread. That's now on the shopping list. & I've got bread so I'll be back to taking a pack up to work this week. Gonna be tuna & cucumber, or tuna & sweetcorn fillings.

Winter duvet never happened. I only have two sets of bed sheets & the ones I would have changed to were in the wash basket....
Now been washed & are drying. I've got some thick cotton PJ's & bedsocks at the ready. & An extra blanket for the bed.
Or I'll nab the 10tog single duvet from the spare room if it's still cold.
I got out of the habit of using the living room when the kids left, it seemed quite lonely in there without them, that and the front of my house is north facing and tends to be chilly. Now I've swapped it round with my dining room - I used to live mainly between there and my kitchen it feels much more like my space:D

I've spent the day getting the house ready for my sister whose coming to stay tomorrow for a few days, my house isn't that dirty it's just I'm easily side tracked with more fun things :rotfl: I just need to think what to do for lunch tomorrow as I'm feeding my other sister as well  and I don't want to go food shopping, I did have a plan but one of my sisters won't eat the spinach and ricotta filo pie I was going to take out the freezer

I was happy to stay in today as it's been cold with the occasional heavy shower all day, the cat had the best idea he spent it on my bed :)

Lunch was a small piece of salmon I found in the freezer with salad, dinner was pan fry duck breast, Pak choi, new potatoes and green beans

Right off to look in the freezer for lunch ideas, it's full so there must be something :rotfl:
Nothing like a bit of pre-visitor cleaning:rotfl::rotfl:. As long as the place is tidish and my loo & kitchen are reasonably clean I'm not bothered much by a spot of dust or debris. I have a houseful next weekend including folk I don't know for one night so I'll be joining you in the cleaning frenzy though I'm sure your sisters won't care about the housekeeping:). What about some HM soup for lunch- it's that time of year and easily made from what you have to hand? Quick pop out in the morning for some nice fresh bread and it's good to go:).

There was some avoidance going on today as well Caronc, like sorting my sock drawer :rotfl: but at least I'll be able to find a pair tomorrow :T it's funny I don't see spiders in my house but something must be making the giant cobwebs

The sister who won't eat the pie has given me soup instructions, not make a cauliflower soup as she won't eat that either or a 'lumpy' soup unless it's chicken  there is plenty of veg in the fridge so it could be soup, it would suit the weather and if it's blitzed she won't know what veg is in it :D

    Good morning everyone,

Hope you got lunch sorted out Brambling:).
There's a thick frost again but it's lovely and sunny, I didn't sleep well last night so I'm hoping to get out in the fresh air for a bit to perk me up.

Scotch pie, beans and root veg mash for dinner tonight not sure about lunch yet probably a salad sarnie a cupasoup though I might use some of the veg mash to make a quick pot of homemade. I'll see how long my errands take me.
  • Nice and sunny but cold out there! I had to put my gloves on for driving to Lidl for the first time this season. I was glad I'd thought to put them in my coat pocket last week. I'd been anticipating standing around in cold drafty train stations last Thursday, but as it turns out, they weren't too bad. Still, needed the gloves today!

Did my food shop. Pleased to find sandwich thins in Lidl (don't always see them), as it's time to make up a new batch of freezer sandwiches for work lunches for the coming term. It's a much quicker job to make 30 in one go, than it is to faff around getting the bread, filling, a wrapper out every evening, then putting them away again.

Next job is to sort out my new cash purse for November's food shopping, then have some coffee!

Cold & sunny, I had intended to go to B & Q, but the thought of the Q bit put me off, it'll keep, only wanted some posts for my grape vine

    Breakfast usual porridge etc
Lunch, usual ham & salad sarnie
Dinner, forecast to be nuked LO mince & dumpling thingy

Apart from bedding changing that's it, may even watch Budget but the excitement could be overwhelming:D

Novice, those shower hose things push on a tap have never worked, ever, always finish up spraying water everywhere as it ops off the tap
I've got a shower running from a combi, works fine but have to wind up the shower thermostat control in the colder weather, despite it being automatic, allegedly
I not one for power showers though, a gentle rain is my preferred level, not sliced in half by scalding water

All the more for me then:rotfl::rotfl:
A pie in a roll is the only way to eat them if you are on the move. Has to be a proper "morning roll". The roll stops the pie from burning you hands and catches grease/sauce drips (in theory), it was the end of many a night out when I was young:D:cool:

I think that was what put me off post pub in Scotland, seeing a pie chucked in the deep fat fryer, bobbing among the pizzas in there. The Mars bar option was before my time;)

I'm with you on that one, not keen on them deep fried either- you can take greasy too far_pale_. I'll pass on the Mars bar option too;). My pie tonight will be getting cooked in the oven and I'm hoping to enjoy every bite:).
I may just have bought a new padded winter jacket:o, a want rather than a desperate need but my current one's padding is getting a bit on the thin side as I noticed when I was out earlier.
It is a lovely day but the coldest yet still only 5C and unlikely to get much higher, more frost due tonight....

With the workmen here the doors are open .its perishing, my nephews been here this morning to sort the back brickwork out so spent a bit of time outside with him.
No clue to tea tonight. I did stick a couple of jackets in oven yesterday whist oven was on but then forgot to take them out. So they've been in the oven all night!! Not sure they'll be safe to eat

  • I just took my walk in the park. It's getting a bit boring as I need to put some new music on my phone! It is sunny but cold. Really lovely.

I had a tortilla wrap with vegan cheese and black beans before I went out.

I'm having hash browns and a couple of veggie sausage rolls and some tomato and olive salad. Bit of a weird eating day today!

I'm think I'm going to have jackets and baked beans tonight.
