After waking up in the middle of the night feeling a bit of a chill, the 13.5tog winter duvet will definitely be back on the bed before the day is out! It was frosty this morning & still doesn't feel too warm even with the sun out.
I only had a coffee for breakfast as I was off to Church. I'm gonna clear the build up of pots & pans in the sink then make some smoky paprika beans on toast for lunch. I'm very peckish.
Might do HM plain cheese pizzas (on a couple of white pitta breads) for tea. Not feeling too adventurous today, as I've so many household chores to do....0 -
I'll give any unloved kale a home, I'm very fond of it especially in soup or stir fried with garlic, ginger and soy sauce:).
I opted for beans with mushrooms & mozzarella on toast for lunch as I'm planning on having a scotch pie tomorrow and I'm sure it's the law that unless you are having one squished in a buttered roll beans must feature:rotfl::rotfl:
I had trundle round the block in the sunshine it waslovely to be out but it was bitterly cold so I'm glad to be back in the house now. I'm not looking forward to it getting dark so early as the temperature will plummet!0 -

Probably best idea to keep it that way, then eat the cattle, kind of vegetarian by proxy:D
I made the banana cookies, turned out scrumptious, I had to deviate from recipe because it didn't "look right"
Must be healthy though, oats, bananas, demerara sugar, milk & sprinkle of currants
Lunch was the ham sarnie, dinner is nearly 100% certain to be frozen breaded fish & HM chips with LO baked beans
Caron, I think I may have to duck out of popping round if you are having Scotch pie as well as kale:eek:
And to have one in a roll! Weeps in anguish:D
PN, pizza police alerted
PS, grotty cast iron pot cleaned up & sparkling like new.
I had to clean the pot because the cleaners are in on Tuesday and I can't leave it loafing around in soak
Reminds me of my Nan, she used to clean up before the home help arrived.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I boiled an egg and had that with a splash of salad cream in a bread roll with marg.
This "clocks back" malarky makes you eat earlier... then you look at the clock and think "it's dinner time, what can I eat".0 -

A pie in a roll is the only way to eat them if you are on the move. Has to be a proper "morning roll". The roll stops the pie from burning you hands and catches grease/sauce drips (in theory), it was the end of many a night out when I was young:D:cool:0 -
I ended up skipping lunch as I cleaned the bathroom & then set about trying to fit the shower attachment to the bath taps.... That was a disaster! The taps are too big for the seal on it & it was just impossible to fit it on. So much so that i actually ended up loosening the hot tap from its seat, so I've just spent about an hour lying on the bathroom floor squashed between the look & the bath panel half off reseating both taps & checking for leaks.
All the water just spurted round the taps! I did get it almost working (but not properly connected) & it did run a good amount of water through the shower head even with the tap leak. I think I might just cough up & get a plumber round to fit a tap mixer/shower combo thing.
I'll be sending this thing back to Argos. Quite disappointed. I was looking forward to a hot, powerful shower.
Off to make my pizzas, & see if there's any garlic bread slices left in the freezer.0 -
Novice my shower runs off the combination boiler , and I've never had a problem. But I suppose it's the pressure is the thing.
Tea last night was fish fingers and cheese on a roll.
I've had a busy day, dd1 and her boyfriend were coming for lunch ,along with dgson. Whose mum dd2 came with him and brought her step daughter, and stayed. Anyway we had chimichuri steaks with fat wedges and salad. A mix of desserts laid out mini !clairs and mince pies, strawberries, hm cookies and extra thick cream. Opened a bottle of fizzy pink wine. Then sis and Bil back from hols came round ,so another bottle opened. After most had left my nephew called as he's bricking up the extractor fan in the bathroom, so he came to see what needed doing.
Tea for dgson and I was ham salad roll, and lo dessert.
Very cold all day but sunny, and got my washing dry.
Agree with those about flannelette, I love it! Mines not on the bed yet but the winter duvet is.
I definitely can't sleep with cold feet, and the feet need to be warm before putting socks on.
Wednesday well done on your run of good days. My niece has fibro, and she struggles to walk that far.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.0 -
:eek:Novice, I remember having similiar problems in a rented flat I lived in many moons ago:(
Sounds like a lovely afternoon wort, lunch sounds lovely:D.
Ah well dark by just after 5.30pm and there is a thick frost already.... Needless to say the heating is on!
Root veg mash has been made and cabbage prepped ready for nuking so just a case of bringing the meal together in a bit.
I'm going to attempt to get Netflixs up on the TV and start watching "Dark" both my kids raved about and said they thought I would enjoy it. Before I swapped the rooms round I seldom actually used my TV /living room but with the new set up and the dark nights I've no excuse not to get comfy on the sofa and chill out:D.0 -
I think the water pressure is fine, Wort. When I bought the house it had an old boiler & hot water tank, so also an electric shower as a proper shower couldn't be fitted (changing all the plumbing to add pumps & things).
The electric shower is a fairly decent one & does a good job of delivering hot water, it's just a really dismal flow in winter. & Probably much more expensive that one connected to the Combi.
I'm half thinking of keeping the electric one & fitting a tap mixer shower. It'll be a pain to remove it & make good the tiles behind it.
Caronc, it took me a long time in my house to get used to sitting in the lounge. I'd always potter about the kitchen or sit about in the bedroom. Mainly cos the lounge was unusable for the first 6 months whilst waiting for builders to start, & I just got used to watching TV in bed.
On the CFO front, pizzas were lovely. I had no garlic bread. That's now on the shopping list. & I've got bread so I'll be back to taking a pack up to work this week. Gonna be tuna & cucumber, or tuna & sweetcorn fillings.
Winter duvet never happened. I only have two sets of bed sheets & the ones I would have changed to were in the wash basket....
Now been washed & are drying. I've got some thick cotton PJ's & bedsocks at the ready. & An extra blanket for the bed.
Or I'll nab the 10tog single duvet from the spare room if it's still cold.0 -
I've spent the day getting the house ready for my sister whose coming to stay tomorrow for a few days, my house isn't that dirty it's just I'm easily side tracked with more fun things :rotfl: I just need to think what to do for lunch tomorrow as I'm feeding my other sister as well  and I don't want to go food shopping, I did have a plan but one of my sisters won't eat the spinach and ricotta filo pie I was going to take out the freezer
I was happy to stay in today as it's been cold with the occasional heavy shower all day, the cat had the best idea he spent it on my bed
Lunch was a small piece of salmon I found in the freezer with salad, dinner was pan fry duck breast, Pak choi, new potatoes and green beans
Right off to look in the freezer for lunch ideas, it's full so there must be something :rotfl:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0
