For cold feet, I'd recommend tossing a pillow over them... it's like a mini duvet.
  • Not forgetting - having a selection of throws in the sitting room. I've got two in there permanently (one of them being mega-warm variety). I've also got tucked away a couple of other throws, and the single duvet and extra blankets I keep in case of friends staying.

Re cold feet - it's surprising what a difference a pair of bedsocks can make. I rarely resort to them - and it's bare feet or, for wearing around the house, normal type socks.

But wearing a pair of those fluffy type bedsocks for occasional use in bed/around the house and it does make quite a difference.

I was waking up with a lot of cramp in my feet and legs last winter, a friend brought me bed socks as she said it was because my feet were too cold, and it seems to work :) I did think last night that it's time to put them on again

  • I've found cold feet can go into getting cramp over the last couple of years or so - and I very promptly had decent carpet and the thickest underlay I could get put down on the carpeted floors in this house. As I do obviously spend a fair bit of time standing around in the kitchen one way or another - then I try not to pick too thin a lino to go down on the floors. I've been thinking that way since discovering this house has concrete floors (rather than the wooden ones I'm used to).

I occasionally wake up with leg cramps - and they are painful!! aren't they:eek:. So that's me sitting there massaging my legs like mad when this happens. I am wondering whether they might be caused by my leg muscles not stretching to and fro as much as they used to since moving here - courtesy of the fact I spent much of my first couple of years or so here living in trainers?? I've now developed a theory that people need to wear (low) heeled footwear at intervals noticeably often (easy enough for a woman to do) - so that the leg muscles have time spent in more contracted mode and it's a sorta form of "keeping them exercised/supple"??? It's a theory - I don't know how it will work out in practice - but I'm getting "heels" back on again sometimes to "keep in practice" at it.
  • That reminds me that I bought some flannel fitted sheets.

I've only had a cup of coffee today so far. The Shroomdogs were nice yesterday.

    Good morning everyone,
Having found out the hard way last winter how painful very cold hands and feet can be and how difficult it is to get them heated back up again, this year I'm working on prevention. Super thick socks, cosy slipper boots and thick throws have been purchased:).
It was -2C when I got up and a thick frost which is only just lifting now, it's lovely and sunny though so I'll have a trundle round the block in a bit for some fresh air. We're forecast another cold one tonight and then it's supposed to gradually get a bit milder again.

It's weather for a hot lunch so scrambled eggs or beans on toast I think. I've a tub of braised steak & onions defrosting which I'll have with root veg mash and savoy cabbage.:)

    Nice one, glad you're improving

Last night's 50th party next door was a bit noisy, but not excessive and it never went on & on.
Luckily, for me, I sleep in the back bedroom, it's so cold & windy there was no attraction except for the very hardy smokers, to venture outside and party:j i saw a couple under the gazebo, shivering their bits off;)

After my dinner I dived into the £land Toble**ne knock off, they are just sooo nice. I'm not buying any more until Christmas, too tasty to just sit temptingly in the fridge

I had a banana later, going soggy now, they were on offer, "fun sized" AKA small from L's. Quick cheffy Google, banana oatmeal cookies seems easy, easier than banana loaf anyway
Plus I can [STRIKE][STRIKE]bung [/STRIKE][/STRIKE]roast some beetroot in the oven at same time

    Usual porridge banana etc breakfast
Lunch, back to ham & salady sarnie
Dinner, fancying some breaded fish fillet & chips, or maybe nuke the LO mince & dumpling thing?

Found a top tip for cooking kale, if you stir in some coconut oil it makes it easier to slide off the plate into the bin:D

Having bought/frozen a pizza, even in a slim box, it was cluttering up the entire freezer drawer as the drawers are not much bigger...

So I decided to cook the (whole!) Hot American pizza for lunch. Gonna scoff the whoooooole lot :)

I can't stand kale! It doesn't taste like it is for human consumption to me.:D
