Woken up at 5ish, lovely rain pouring down, at last. Didn't last long though, now sun's out & a bit windy. Never swa any moon of course, had a look but 100% cloud

Could be worse, my son & family are stuck in a traffic jam in Paris at this very moment, they started from Southampton area at 7 last night, hell at Folkestone Eurotunnel things caused the delay, should have been ensconced in the rented villa by now.

And this morning, SIL's charity swim round Brownsea Island tomorrow has been cancelled, wind & waves will be dangerous tomorrow it seems.
As said, hot & sunny, then when not needed it all changes

At least all is normal at Chez Farway, porridge, banana, honey & HM yoghurt for breakfast

Lunch is planned to be PB baguette, with Black Forest ham & salad inner

Dinner, too far off to think about at the moment, but fish & chips keeps flashing up in my thoughts

PS, thanks for link PN, looking now

    W....swim round Brownsea Island ...

    £60? £60 to swim?
It'd be cheaper renting a boat and getting round it .... and you get to see the view without getting wet/cold. :)

£11.50 for a boat trip round it .... you could stay on the boat and go round 5x for the same money :)

Or a full 3-hour coastal cruise, about £18.

I know where my money'd be going .... few bottles of fizzy pop and some sweeties in my bag and onto that boat.

Breakfast this morning was "planned" around what needs using up - so that was hash browns, sausages, beans ... and I had planned on eggs, but then I realised I only had 1 egg ... and I wanted that to be boiled to go into a bread roll. So I just had the beans/browns/sausages - and I was surprised that I probably enjoyed that more than if I'd added scrambled eggs to it! Win/win.

I've got a pack of four bread rolls that needs opening/slicing and then either filling or freezing. I've got tomatoes that need using up ... and sausages.... so some sausage (bread) rolls will probably be done. CBA to make fried onions to go in those... so it'll be sausages/splash of brown... and some egg/tomato rolls.

I've started buying the 5 slices packs from A. Easier to use than having to commit to a whole can. You can just graze on a single slice lifted from the fridge in passing.....

I had a pack of four bread rolls. I made cheese/plum tomatoes; lincs sausages/brown sauce; just plum tomatoes ... then got stuck. I couldn't decide between making another sausage one, or doing cheese/egg, or tomato/egg, or cheese/crisps, so the 4th one's still in the packet until I make a decision.... could be a day or two. The three I've made are foil wrapped and in the fridge to be grabbed randomly.

So much cooler today :) and as forecast it's beginning to get a little breezy out there

I've just separated his lordship from the black and white interloper fighting on the doorstep, he was so pumped up he's let me scoop him up and bring him in. He's now settled next to me I've told him if he doesn't calm down and defluff his tail I'm using it as a loo brush :rotfl: I'm catching up on the housework :o when it's cooler

Trying to decide on boiled eggs or bacon and eggs for lunch, no breakfast today so it will be an early lunch. I've taken a lamb steak out of the freezer so simple dinner with new potatoes and veg.

As part of my decluttering I'm going to [STRIKE]off load[/STRIKE] recycle some books to a friend this afternoon and I promised to look at an issue with her laptop so may need gin when I get back

Hope you enjoyed your food fair Money

    Good afternoon everyone,

After tipping it down most of the morning the sun is now shining though still lots of black clouds lurking and it's beginning to get really gusty. After I've finished my lunch I'll check if the greenhouse needs watering and then I think I'll be battening down the hatches so to speak for the rest of the day;)Lunch is as planned but I'm still undecided re dinner tonight.

    .

    And there is my problem:o

Lunch was open a tin of corned beef, some into PB baguette, with sliced tomato. Excellent nosh which solved my corned beef pangs

However, cake fancying struck, so I now have a Madeira cake in the oven;)

And I fancied a corned beef pie, but now CBA to make the pastry, so dinner is possibly some slices of corned beef, with frozen chips, last of my posh, "twice the price but not worth it" eggs, and LO baked beans, may bung a tomato on to have at least one veg on the plate

I've still got LO B & A crumble + evap milk, that'll do for later, and then I'll have to sample the cake:j

PS, one pot of runners has assumed the Leaning Tower stance in the wind, I'm leaving it at the moment, more wind & wet forecast

  • Food Fair - errrrm....turned out to be a very meat-centred one imo and strong wafts of cooking meat under my nose frequently

    - ermmm...that was a bit offputting for me then - as we know.

Managed to find a sorta Mexican bean tortilla and slaw sort of lunch for myself. New fact learnt for the day - there are now apparently what look like plastic disposable glasses for drinks at these events that are made of soya bean summat-or-other and not plastic and so they do biodegrade (so I was told anyway - and hence did buy a drink for myself at stall concerned - so lager it was with my Mexican lunch).

    Good evening everyone,

Know what you mean about leaning runners Farway, like you I worry about them once the wind & rain eases.;)
Glad you found something for lunch MTSTM, interesting re the glasses a great idea but I'm hoping they dissolve rather less quickly than my food caddy bags which seem to vanish overnight at times:eek:
I did have to leg it out into the wind & rain for an emergency repair to (aka wads of duct tape) to a loose pane in my greenhouse. Hope it holds until the weather improves enough for me to get it fixed in more securely.

I've just peeled a load of spuds that once cooked I'll mash. Some will go to making tuna fishcakes and the rest I'll either freeze as is or I might make corned beef patties as all the talk of corned beef has reminded me I have a pack in the fridge to use up. I've not make tuna fishcakes for ages, I prefer to bake rather than fry them so I'll pop a corn cob in the oven with them and that will be dinner sorted:)
