Not all kids are horrors ...
I've decided, I don't like them. Due to the (older) age of this one, the "latest time they'll farq off" appears to have extended .... it's not just a "holidays" thing as the established ones were called in .... but the new one PLUS the really irritating one that I really really want to scream at is also "tagging along" as late as she can push it (something not wired right with her, probably oppositional defiance or something, but something's not right with that one).

I don't want to go over old ground, but this isn't about "playing out" - and it's the reason I decided to move... because the current problem brats leave and along come a new lot of problem brats... and I will never be able to solve the problem here, so I'll move to where the problem will be solved.

It's still hot here, no rain ....

For the purposes of the thread, I had stir fry veg and YS diced chicken with a splash of dry sherry and some oyster sauce.

My ulterior motive is just to have a mini rant about the blood-y moon. Clear blue sky for weeks and tonight, thunder, rain (good) and so much cloud that you wouldn't know there even was a moon ...

According to BBC breakfast we were going to see both the red moon and the red plant as Mars is the closest to Earth in 15 years. I wandered up and down my path an hour ago and could see s*d all. Now I'm really glad of the rain but.......

As a rule of thumb: If there's anything up there in the sky that might be unusual/interesting ... it will be cloudy or rain 99% of the time.

The only time it is a clear sky will be the time you find out the day after that you missed something the previous night.
  • Did mean to have a looksee at the moon - but was shattered and so it was an early night.

Had a look at my garden and I can see it rained last night and looks like there was quite a gale. Not that gales are unfamiliar here in West Wales - darn it. A large plantpot with plant in has blown over - again - and smashed again. Darn it - I'm just not going to spend £30 or so replacing it yet again.

Loads of plums had blown off my tree that has been growing them prolifically this year - so it's just as well I'd picked all the ones that were ready a couple of days ago and stashed them in the freezer. Loads were lying on the ground - and I've picked them all up and think most of them should be okay to wash/stew and make fruit leathers out of them or put them in freezer as well.

Off to make up my mind whether I need to take a packed lunch with me or no for the day - as I'll be at a Food Fair locally (ie should be able to have a choice of things I fancy to eat at lunchtime) - but the food fairs here are very small compared to what I'm used to.

    Good morning everyone,
There was absolutely no chance of moon watching here but we were treated to the sights and sounds of a spectacular thunder and lightening storm. It was over the bay so folk with a sea view would have got a fantastic view. We've had a super yacht (Archimedes for anyone that interested in such things!) moored offshore for a few days, not sure if it was still there last night and not sure I would have wanted to be on it if it was:eek:.
It was quite sunny when I got up but it's tipping it down again now with gales forecast for later, while it was dry I quickly checked the greenhouse & garden and all seems ok though my beans & courgettes are looking a bit battered.
It looks as though it's to be wet for the next few days so a good chance to catch up on some admin I need to get done. I could really do with turning some of my food stocks into meals as my stash of "here's one I made early" is very low which is not ideal if I'm having a rough day. I'm still wonky so not up for a mega cookathon but might make a few things that aren't just "single serve" over the coming days.

I had boiled egg on toast again this morning as it did a good job of banishing the munchies until lunch and I cooked extra as my eggs go OOD soon. Lunch I think will be IKEA crackers & brie with salad. I'm not sure about tonight, might make some tuna fishcakes or defrost a steak.

I like to know "what's it doing now/live" - and my current favourite site for that is https://www.ventusky.com
You can choose all sorts of things to measure.

Right now, here, it's 16°C, wind speed 25mph, gusts at 38mph (so lessening from earlier's 42mph), 70% humidity ... and there's all sorts of other metereological stuff if you understand it. Live motion showing wind direction etc.

It says my cloud cover is 0% though ... and I can definitely see some up there in the sky - enough to regularly cover the sun... so not sure it's got that bit right.

Just had a poke about - if I choose Precipitation it also shows Lightning
