  • Well dinner tonight was 1 step up the cba ladder I guess. Did a stirfry with marinated tofu, various vegetables and noodles.

The 1 step up being I was too cba to marinate my own tofu (never mind make it - which is the ultimate goal).

Still - every little.....and there's leftovers for tomorrow.

I suspect (even for me :rotfl:) making tofu is a step too far. I made paneer once, it was ok but have bought it ever since:cool:. I've not had tofu in a long, long time, I must rectify that:).

Just had my first present from the cat  think it was a shrew but to be honest I didn't spend that much time looking. I caught it with a vase over the top and let it go over my neighbours fence as I'm sure it came from his jungle. The cat's still looking for it under the sofa :rotfl: and he's been locked in when I have a large drink to calm myself. :p it seems he doesn't understand basic instructions of TAKE IT OUT :rotfl:

Had to work late so just thinking of heating some of the lamb curry I made last night I picked up some naan bread lunchtime so may have it instead of rice. Had a quick taste and it seems to have mellowed a little, more than I can say about the chicken curry, that's going to need yoghurt.

Lunch was sausage and butter bean casserole and unfortunately the biscuit tin was raided this afternoon as I needed something to help me finish off some work ;) everyone else had gone home.

Kittie's talk of asparagus and jersey royals is reminding me i have some salmon in the freezer so I think that will happen Monday if I can see some English asparagus when I'm out tomorrow

those spanish strawberries were tasteless carp, will not be buying them again, nor will I be tempted. That little shop will be selling locally grown strawberries and that can`t happen soon enough for me. I am growing some strawberries on the allotment but it is always a battle between me, birds and slugs. This will be my last year, I think, depends if I get more than a few

I like fermented tofu, cannot ever get used to the texture and blandness of any other but anyway I am almost sure that my digestive system does not like soya. I had to get rid of my cartons of soya milk. I must get back to making almond milk again. I have blanched almonds to use up and it was so easy in soyabella

I threw my impulse buy clotted cream out, that must have been the reason for me waking up with that heartburn sensation, I had to prop myself up on pillows to stop it. I do all I can to stop nightime gerd, it is potentially very dangerous to the oesophagus. Mostly I succeed but it isn`t easy, hence the light meal at 5 and last proper meal at 12

You're right you can't beat English strawberries ripened in the sun and picked whilst still warm. When we had an allotment we were lucky and always got a good crop although they didn't always make it in doors. On more than one occasion we went back in with a empty bowl and told my nephews and BIL that there were no strawberries :D we did the hard work we got the rewards they got runner beans :rotfl:

Im lucky there's a good PYO strawberry farm near me, their cafe bakes great cakes too :)

:eek::eek: I had a pooch that was monkey for catching small, fast, furry things hiding in the garden, half swallowing them then coming indoors and promptly upchucking said beastie. I was always amazing how fast this wee, dazed thing could recover and promptly scoot off sometimes never to be seen again. I think she was only interested in the chase/catch so once inside she really didn't care what they did next. I shan't mention the time she escaped next door (not current neighbours:cool:) through a teeny gap, caught their guinea pig and then didn't know what to do so was bolting round the garden with it in her mouth.... Guinea pig was none the worse for it's "adventure" but it took my neighbour & I several large gins to recover:rotfl::rotfl:

I've never had the fermented stuff and tbh like the bland stuff to add to heavily flavoured things. Did have the most wonderful smoked tofu at a food fair yonks ago which was "different" but in a good way.:)

Never had a guinea pig brought in thank goodness, I did have 4 shrews brought in one afternoon when my neighbour had his jungle cut down. One of my sisters was staying and nearly wet herself laughing, the cat would bring one in, let it go I would chase it around the room, catch it, take it out the front door to waste ground by the time I got back in the cat was bringing another one in the back door. After the 4th the cats got shut in, even through only one was catching them the other one was just sitting watching the chaos

The best was coming home to a large live pigeon  both cats met me at the front door wanting food, totally ignoring the pigeon running around the lounge. Never knew which cat or how they got it in the cat flap. I just know it took a long time to clean up after I caught it.

Someone remind me why I got another cat:rotfl:

I am sorting bedding today, getting ready for warmer nights. I have 2 single identical beds side by side, so one bed will keep the cozee home bedding that I love and the other will be clad in summer weight bedding and cotton sheets. It is too early in the year for that winter to summer transformation

Sardines on the last rye crispbreads. Hemp drink later and I will make some almond milk for my last meals of granola, need to get cracking on the blanched almonds stored in the fridge. Lunch will be a salad with the asparagus and jersey royals, protein part will likely be turkey. I am thankfully back to a normal routine ie food and cycling

I spotted a baby root on a soaked bean, it took far too long to chit but I will plant that in a root trainer today. I put another 6 to soak last night and am hoping for a more vigorous result from at least one bean. Marketmore cucs are sitting on damp kitchen roll, so I can see if they chit, then I will cut around them and pot three up, using two. What a slow start this year but some plants will be going out next week, at least I can always rely on cabbages and beetroot. Parsnips, carrots, chard and parsley are all up on the allotment but the food farmers are struggling

Snap I decided earlier today after being too warm in bed last night that when I change my bed tomorrow I'll swap the winter duvet for a lighter one. I have a big fleecy blanket I can pop on if I get chilly.:)

Dull, damp & mild here today, it looks as though it's going to pour with rain any minute. Hopefully it will brighten up a bit as I want to get more done outdoors. Beans and peas are outside, hardening off. I need to get these planted in the next few days so I can get second sowings started. I reckon I have just enough frozen broad & runner beans from last year to see me until the new crop starts to arrive.:)

I treated myself to a cooked breakfast earlier so in theory shouldn't need any lunch though I'm not convinced that will be case in reality;). Gammon steak is defrosting for tonight and two portion of curry have been boxed up. I just need to label them before they go in the freezer.

Sun's out, blue sky & hot

Stuck to usual porridge etc breakfast, with a pot of tea

Made a fresh brew of yoghurt

Into lightweight jacket for mooching around town, trouble is lack of pockets, I carry my wallet in inside pocket of jacket, once I have 'phone in there as well it looks like could I have a Colt 45 in a shoulder holster under my jacket
Woolly cap exchanged for baseball cap, peak to keep sun out of eyes

Impulse buy of bedding plants, as Asda intended of course. I'll put them in my wall baskets, once I have weeded the baskets of course

Plus W/rose solved my dinner quandary, YS posh pasty, plus a free tin of mangoes in juice, coupon used for that

Lunch back to part baked baguette, with cheese & salady bits

Grass mowed, 5 more runners planted out, now need to sort out the pots to plant up the toms

Dinner will be the YS pasty, with oven chips, same oven & tray. And maybe some baked beans
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
