  • Had leftover stirfry for lunch, followed by some melon.

Snack was deconstructed banana nicecream (ie frozen banana I hadnt bothered to blitz up), with vegan "cream" on it/hemp seeds/dusting of carob powder.

Off to make dinner now - I've been soaking some cashews and am about to make cashew "cheese" with it - ie basically cashews/some nooch (aka nutritional cheese)/garlic/lemon juice/little water all blitzed together. I know I like it and, having visited farm shop, it will be with sourdough bread and some salad. Probably a pear and/or oranges after.

Just a sausage butty this evening. But the sausages are big Cumberland beasties made by a local butcher with wild garlic in the recipe. I'll be having them with - wild garlic picked just now

almond milk was very quickly made and lovely with the granola that I am liking for my last meal. I had a wonderful piece of fish for lunch, pan fried it and had dill sauce and garden mint with my leaves. Oh I do love this spring food, the fresh herbs

I re-potted all my herbs today, some fresh compost and cut them down a bit. Had quite a bit of heavy work in the garden this morning but am now all set for my plantlets to arrive next week, tulips out and pelargoniums in. I am also getting more achilleas, it does well in my ragingly sunny garden, in large pots and near the house. Easy peasy this year. Got to think about putting some things on the allotment next week, small cabbages, beetroots etc. I have to find the cabbage collars first

Tomorrow I need to eat purple sprouting and carrots and I have jerseys and turkey and half a tin of sardines for breakfast. I don`t see any problem re good food tomorrow but want to be out cycling early, then the allotment if I have the energy and/or it isn`t too hot but I may have to alternate cycling and allotment days while the weather is warm, I like being out very early

    Good evening everyone,
The weather picked up mid afternoon, not amazingly warm but pleasant out if you had a cardi on. I started prepping the large tubs my beans etc. will go into. It's quite a heavy, bendy job for me though much easier since my garden was made more "me-friendly" last year. Didn't get masses done but if I can do a bit most days I'll get there.:) Plants in the hanging baskets I made up yesterday seem to be quite happy so hopefully they'll all take ok.
My sister popped by for a cuppa & a catch up, she has never been that interested in her garden until this year just doing the minimum needed to keep it tidy but seems to have got the "growing bug" so we had a good natter re what would work well in her (very) small space:).
On a negative I think I might be getting another herpes attack as I have a tingle/itch in my sinus. Could just be a touch of the cold or hayfever but I'm not convinced, time will tell ......
As I suspected might happen, despite the cooked breakfast, come 3pm my tummy was rumbling so I had the last of a very ripe & smelly french cheese, a pile of radishes and a packet of crisps. F&V intake today has been scant so far so I'll add a good load of veg to my dinner tonight.

Lovely sunny day today and I think tomorrow is meant to be hotter at 25c. I met some friends for lunch it was good to catch up and enjoy a cocktail :) The train was full of people on the way to Goodwood, lots of clinking of bottles down the train at 10.30am I think it was the first race day of the season.

You're making me feel guilty with all your gardening talk, I'm going to have to tackle mine as I've nothing planted yet and the cat's going to need a machete and compass to find his way across the back lawn :(

Just a small salad for a late dinner I picked up a YS quiche spinach, feta and red pepper, a little bit too much nutmeg but it was ok. I wouldn't have paid over £4 for it but would buy again YS for £1.50 :) I'm not eating at home tomorrow so there will be leftover for Monday lunch and some in the freezer.

I am in my cycling clothes but it is misty and damp, so had a matcha tea while I wait. I want to be out and back before the heat and flies

the remaining half of tinned sardines eaten on yet another rye crispbread, plus a half a warm ripe tomato. My food cupboard these days is a fraction of what it used to be and I am glad but am still ploughing through. I will have a cheddar slice on hot toast when I come back and I have rhubarb out and ready to go with half a tub of brown cow yoghurt

I do want to get to the allotment, maybe I will wear my allotment slip ons for cycling, as I almost go past on the way back. I only want to sow another short row of carrots and to fill in some chard. I saw a very rapid root appear on one bean seed, just shows the difference in activity, now duly planted and also marketmore in small pots.

lunch is easy and nice, turkey and various organic veg. I am not overdoing any work, will read and spin, I was hard grafting yesterday and need to work alternate days, give my not -young body some recovery time

Up early cooking a chicken and new potatoes and filling up hot water flasks while on E7. I have an unopened quote by my side for fitting an indirect water cylinder including a new bathroom shower etc. It would literally revolutionise my life. Cheap hot water literally on tap all day, showers any time and none of this filling up flasks palaver. But for the moment I dare not look at the cost
So many outdoor jobs to choose from today. I'm off to Kirkby Stephen before then to stock up on juice and ice cream. If the hordes haven't got there before me.... Enjoy the sun! :)

    Good morning everyone,
Bright here this morning but a bit misty too, hope it burns off and we get a decent day.
Time to pop a lighter duvet on my bed so I'll tackle that this morning and hopefully still have enough oomph left to to some more in the garden later.
Simple chicken & veg traybake planned for tonight but not sure what lunch will be probably salad or scrambled eggs.

Following method advocated - not copyrighted to me...

    - Have a bottle of wine to hand
    - Open wine
    - Pour yourself a glass
    - Take couple of sips of wine
    - Take deep breath
    - Open letter cautiously
    - Take another couple of sips of wine
    - Cut to the chase and look at the end figure first
    - Sit down fast - and take another couple of sips of wine
    - Have rueful thought to effect of ".....and that's another darn bill I've got to pay on my own. Wouldn't it be nice to only have to pay half (ie like a married/coupled-up person would)? Oh well...:"
    - Have another glass of wine
    - Start working out the finances...

By that time - you've probably had enough sips of wine that the impact of cost won't hit you until following day.

It's looking like a beautiful day. Fingers crossed it stays nice !
Yesterday I'd lifted a hm pasta bake out of freezer for tea after work, which I added smoked salmon to, then ate in the garden with my book and a glass or 2 of wine!!
I was tired by half 8 and went to bed at 9 PM with hot chocolate plus a bit of fruit and nut choc! and a book, I put the book down at 10.30 but still took a while to get off. Then had a few up and downs In the night with dreaded hormones.

I'm going to put the summer duvet on dgson s double bed as my dd1 and partner are sleeping tonight, so both can have a drink at the bbq. Both are "hot" people. Unlike me who apart from my tropical moments is usually snuggled in 13.5 tog and blanket.
I'm looking forward to everyone coming today, and no doubt will eat and drink too much. I will need to rearrange seating in the garden and decide where to set up the bbq s so they are safe for the children.
