Good morning everyone,
Sounds as though you're in "full steam ahead" mode this morning PN:D, I'm easing myself gently into the day as I'm feeling a bit unsteady on my feet.
Tesco delivery due in a bit so once I've seen if everything has arrived I want to finalise a meal plan for the next week.
It's still dull and damp here but definitely a lot milder so fingers crossed it doesn't get cold again. If it's dry later on I want to get some hanging baskets made up. I'll keep them under the deck roof for a bit to establish but the plants are currently taking up a lot of room in my conservatory and really do need potting on.
Curry and flatbreads tonight, I'll pop the SC back on late afternoon and then I just need to griddle the bread when I'm ready to eat.:)0 -
yes steady as she goes caronc, I am glad you listen to your body
My kitchen is a tip, its only a small galley but all surfaces need a good clean and tidy. Later, first I am having my coffee break and eaten strawberries and a small banana and tried a small end of the malt loaves I made, to use up the malt. I have been busy the whole morning, cycle riding then decided that as lanes were likely to be not so muddy from now on, I would clean my bike and filthy chain. All done but getting stuff out and tidying away takes time, as does putting plants out to harden and watering. I have also just sliced all loaves and they are in the freezer, to feed me for a long time
oh yes not just that but I cleaned all the jersey royals and they are steaming, the asparagus is done. So after coffee, I will jolly well set to and get this kitchen done, then change into something less like my cycling clothes. I am experimenting with these scraped new potatoes that are like gold, I have vac packed 2/3 in a jar and think they will easily last the full week like that. I wish I had some roll mops, love them with new potatoes, oh well LO flageolet it is0 -
I've been stuffing my face today.
I had 2 slices of toast with cream cheese, a packet of crisps and just had quinoa with toms, cucumber, red onion, olive oil, lemon juice, olives and fresh coriander for lunch.:o I've actually lost a couple of pounds this week but I think that is because I've been exercising.0 -
I had everything done by 10am that I'd have liked to have done .... i didn't think I'd do that much to be honest as I'm idle when it comes to manual labour and gardening and stuff... but I've done the new bark area, even extended it by another 1' or so (I'd started by folding the end under as I CBA to keep weeding). Got the bark, bark's on. Job done.
Mowed the lawn and took all the clippings and weeds to the tip.
Got rid of the washing machine and a fridge.
Been up L1dl and bought sausage rolls, which are now cooking for lunch. First food of the day.0 -

Groceries have been delivered and put away. No subs or unavailable items. F&V now restocked and I've bought a few ready bits for some easier options, nothing too exciting a pasty, croquettes, finest soup and cauli cheese that were all on SO. Anything not used can get popped in the freezer. I really hope to get some time outside over the next few days and also meeting friends for a cuppa & a sandwich on Monday. Meal plan for the next week:-- Minced lamb, aubergine & spinach curry with flatbread
- Gammon steak, roasted cherry toms, flat mushroom, shallots and croquettes
- Chicken & veg tray bake
- Cauli cheese
- Salmon, asparagus, sprouts and baby spuds
- Veggie pasta
- Beef olive, root veg mash & sprouts.
Cold meat salad for lunch today to use the opened slice pork up, cupasoup and as there are now some in the cupboard a cheeky bag of crisps.0 -
In L1dl, flagging as "new" on the shelves, I spotted a tin of mixed beans - 65p. So I looked in case I'm interested in doing anything with mixed beans ...
They are 3 types, haricot, cannellini and aduki - all in what they called "a spicy sauce".
I thought I'd mention it, for those that do use mixed beans in spicy dishes and are prepared to pay 65p for the convenience.
I didn't buy any, I just looked.0 -
I think we are all busy at different times caronc, we all live in homes that need cleaning, washing that needs doing and some, like you, do all that food prep as well. I have done the kitchen, wasn`t really that bad, just messy, I even wiped the sink and the dw is very full. I need to change now and get some compost as plantlets are coming in a few days. I had my lunch and jersey royals were lovely, tasted just like butter, without butter.
I think I am going to manage a fairly relaxed afternoon, hope so0 -

I must get some jersey royals on my next shop they are just so lovely:).0 -
All this strawberry chat is tempting. I went by the greengrocer's on Thursday, he had punnets of fresh local strawberries out, The smell was heavenly. I may even buy some next time
Sunny & warm, into L's on way to volunteering. This week's offer is caulis, 59p. The ones in my L's were excellent, fresh & solid. Grabbed one, more cauli cheese pencilled in for sometime soon
Last night's jacket spud was tasty, had it with grated cheese. Simple but filling. One YS sausage roll was sacrificed later
No breakfast, but 2 more sausage rolls + brown sauce for lunch
Dinner, I have YS mushrooms, and need to use up eggs, seems mushroom omelette is likely, with use up spuds making HM chips
Forecast this weekend is record breaking May temperature, do me now I have plants hardened off, all being well another pot of 5 Enorma Runners to plant, and think I'll pot on my toms into their final pots in the conservatory and get the begonias into the fresh airEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
This time yesterday I was swathed in multiple layers and had the heating on, tonight while it's still a bit overcast I'm just in a top and a gilet and the heating is off.:)
I'm not feeling hugely bendy so not much done outdoors though I did get four baskets potted up so a little progress. My toms are still teeny, I reckon another four weeks of being nurtured inside before getting moved to the greenhouse.
I was good and didn't have crisps with my lunch as I was full. Did think I might have some late afternoon but wasn't munchy so didn't. Curry is good to go whenever I am, smells fab and tastes pretty decent too:D0
