Oh, the can't sleep bug must be spreading, I was up at 5.30, at least it was dull daylight, and raining till mid afternoon as per PN
Breakfast was overnight soaked porridge, banana honey & yoghurt combo
Lunch I'm thinking about some of the opened luncheon meat in a roll with maybe piccalilli, good job I do not have biscuits or choccies in or some serious harm would have been inflicted on them. That's the problem with getting up early, body clock bu66ered
Dinner I think will follow the MTSTM route with roast veggies, plus I've taken a couple of bangers out to defrost so they will go in the same tray in the oven, splodge of Bisto granules and brown sauce, dinner done
PS staying in due to rain, and cbaEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
Another one up before 6 today after a restless night, though I did languish in bed for an hour or so with my book and a cuppa.
Sunny here this morning though still windy, the sky is still very dark in the distance though so more rain heading in I think.
Snap Farway, I've bangers defrosting for later as well though for a change I plan to skin them and mix the meat with tomato & shallot then use it to stuff a couple of big mushrooms. I've a couple of lurking rashers of streaky bacon needing used so I'll probably pop them over the top. I'll probably have those with sweet potato wedges.
The long range forecast suggests no more frost for us so I want to start getting plants hardened off. I also need to find more space for baby plants due to arrive this week so will make up some baskets and hang them under my deck roof so they are sheltered. Most of my courgettes need potting on so also need to get that done and get them into the greenhouse for a bit before planting out.0 -

Indeed, Escape to the Country always starts with them telling the couple "it's difficult to buy round here, it's so pricey" - and then they ask their budget and they usually have £600-750k - and the presenter says it'll be difficult to find them something.

Good evening everyone,
Funny old day weatherwise, sunny am then cold and torrential rain this afternoon and sunny but cold this evening. Definitely warmer than yesterday as I'm neither swathed in multiple layers nor put the central heating on.:)
Due to the weather I didn't get as much done outdoors I had hoped. Did managed to get the cucumber & courgettes potted on and into the greenhouse which is just as well as the first lot of expected baby plants arrived:).
Lunch was a quick salad roll and a cupasoup. I really should get some HM soup made so I can have it in the freezer if I want something hot at lunch. I also must do a meal plan as I'm back to planning on the day which I don't like. I've a notion to make a minced lamb & aubergine curry so might make that tomorrow to have on Friday as I prefer curries to have a "think" for 24 hours as I always think they taste better. Grocery order placed for Friday as I'm running out of fresh F&V. I did get a few bits from Asda yesterday but no F&V as I never think their stuff is up to much. Asda had sent me a £10 off + free delivery if I spent £50 on or before 1st May so I took the chance to stock up on tomato food, slug stuff and treated myself to some new summery bedding which all came to £44 so spent £6 on groceries for stores to make up amount needed. :cool:0 -
Heavy rain today until mid afternoon, hopefully that it for a few days. Came home to flying fur strange cat had made it's way through the catflap and I walked in mid fight, unfortunately most of the fur belong to my cat
he's fine just feeling sorry for himself and has stayed in since. At least he got over his fear of the catflap as he chased the other one out once he had me as backup :rotfl:
Last of the salad for lunch with last egg, cheese and ham. Dinner was beans on toast really cba at the moment, usual beginning of month chaos at work and we're 2 people down in a team of 4.5. I have food cooked in the freezer for this reason, I just need to defrost and ping so no excuses really. At least being very busy means the time goes fast :cool:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Brambling - poor puss.
I gather there are little thingies one can put on a cat collar that activate a cat door (so that Resident Cat can get through them). But said cat door remains firmly shut if a cat tries to get through without said thingie on its collar.
Don't know if that's worth a thought.
Blimmin' cheek of Stranger Cat - it's obviously your cats territory...:eek:0 -
I ate well yesterday, until I took the backroad to avoid a right turn off a busy A road. Took me past the shop and I called in because I wanted crisps like no-bodys business, not had crisps for years. Ridged ones but I went in hungry and came out with a pudding, chocolate fingers, strawberries, apples, ice cream and a ready meal. So I for tea I ate the crisps, pudding, chocolate fingers and had some granola and then I stopped and felt piggish. Felt good while eating though. Slept the full night and woke up grounded
I am finishing round rye crackers, had 2 with peanut butter for breakfast and a banana and strawberries in an hour. Hemp drink later
Lunch the yummy AnC chicken pie with purple sprouting and carrots, Tea will be granola. Chocolate strip after lunch and I have a piece of thin crust blackcurrant pie for a peckish time
Got to carefully plant some sprouted mini cucumbers today, sprouted on kitchen roll as I ruined the last attempt, cut around, lay on top and sprinkle some fine compost. I ordered some marketmore for outside and they are on kitchen paper. The moonlight beans are disasterous this year, very poor germination. I soaked another 3 but no sign of life and will repeat with another 6 today. I only want one more plant, two from the first batch sprouted0 -

I've got the lines up for washing, been to the launderette but there's a sign on the door it's not open until 9 this week ... and now I'm home there's a single black cloud over my house! Weather report says no rain at all, just cloud/sun, so I'll still go again in 20 minutes.
Not sure what I'll eat today, plans have changed that alter my food buying, so I'll mull on things and see what I've got. Two unopened packs of crumpets in the freezer mean I won't starve.
I've got crisps on my shopping list.... for the weekend as it's a bank holiday weekend I figure I'd enjoy some crisps at some point. NEVER ridged crisps though, just good old fashioned Walkers C/O.0 -
Money - you can get magnetic catflap where you put a magnet on a collar for the cat, or I've seen ones which use the cats' micro chip. I've only seen the cat in the garden a couple of times so I think it is reasonably new as well. It was my cats territory for a long time and they kept all other cats out the garden and house, unfortunately I lost both my cats last year and needed a few months before I could get another one. I will say he was a beautiful cat, I just didn't want him in the house,Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0

Good morning everyone,
Hopefully invading cat won't return Brambling:).
Crisps are a major weakness of mine love them, like most flavours though less keen on cheese & onion. My favourite is ready salted. I've discovered that the Tesco Value Ready Salted crisps (66p for 12 packs) are really good. They are small packets at 18g but it's enough to sate a crisp urge without overdoing the salt. I usually have some in the cupboard but have run out, says she as logs on to add a pack to her grocery order.;):)
Dull, cold and windy here though dry just now. If the rain stays off I hope to get some more done outdoors. I'm not sure what I fancy for dinner tonight so need to have a think about that. Last nights stuffed mushrooms were really good, they looked a bit messy but tasted great. They made a nice change without a lot of effort.:)0
