I wasn’t back until early evening yesterday so no cfo, I just microwaved a portion of soup from the freezer and had with a slice of toast.

For lunch today I defrosted some chicken meatballs, sliced them and stuffed them into a pitta with salad.

Dinner is breaded haddock, AF chips, peas and a slice of bread & butter 😁

Proper Friday night tea N2BT 😉

Sunshine and showers here today and definitely cooler. Put the heated airer on in my little office this afternoon so dried washing while keeping me warm.

Tuna, feta and artichoke flatbread with cucumber sticks for lunch. Tuna steak with a mustard, artichoke and caper sauce, new potatoes and broccoli tonight. Think it would have been better with a salad or chargrilled veg in the summer but it was nice.

Double tuna and artichoke day 🙃

it was a wet start to the day which made the traffic into town this morning going to volunteering bad ☔️ it also meant a quiet start to the day until it stopped raining lunchtime.

Gammon and watercress salad for lunch. I had a M&S YS chicken Kiev in the freezer which was full of garlic naughtiness 😋 which I had with sweet potato fries and broad beans. Both fries and broad beans need finishing.

It feels much colder today. I didn't notice as I opened the windows as usual and then realised I was cold and put the heating on! It is 14 in my living room.

I am having some sparkling water with lime and I'm about to have mango yoghurt with some sliced bananas. Jacket potatoes for lunch with baked beans and tomatoes. I' have just placed an Ocado order for later so I will see what needs using up for dinner.

Sunny & bright, which is just as well because I have the roofers up on the roof.

Not with good news though, the felt is really bad, shown me some photos, full of holes where it has just crumbled over the years, looking like a bigger, more expensive job than initially thought. but that's what Rainy day money is for,and now that day has arrived. Waiting for Boss man to get back from Chichester to check it out & finally price it up.

    Lunch, another salad sarnie

Dinner, the other pork chop, grilled, with LO new spuds & salad

    Good morning everyone,

Despite the increased bill it's good the roofers found the problem before winter sets in Farway.

A frosty start and still pretty cold but it's beautifully sunny. A well wrapped up DS2 is out taking H for a huge walk to make the most the sunshine and dry weather.

The steam mop made a cracking job of my floors, I'm so glad I got it set up. The floor pad was embarrassingly manky at the end so but came up fine after a cycle in the washing machine. I've ordered some extra pads. New carpet cleaner is set up and looks good, similar capacity to my defunct one but lighter and less unwieldy.

My sis is treating DS2 & I to dinner tonight at a local pub as a thank you for pooch sitting while she is on shift. It's a chips with everything kind of place but generally the food is very good so looking forward to it. Salmon salad for lunch using up salmon and roast veg LO from last night's oven bung in.

The fishmonger always has a good variety and abundant stock on a Friday JKS, maybe tradition, so it’s become an easy option when planning my menu or getting stock to put in the freezer 😁

Lunch today was cheese on toast with a side salad.

For dinner I’ll do a chicken, leek and butternut squash pot pie, I’ve already poached a chicken breast and parcooked the b/nut squash in stock, later I’ll do the sauce gently cooking the leeks in butter add flour then the stock, chicken and b/nut squash before topping with some hm shortcrust pastry that I have in the freezer, so an easy put together meal tonight, happy days 😋

My local sister has just had her roof replaced, it was definitely a ouch for her and that's with a discount as her neighbour had theirs done at the same time and as they are part of a terrace it made things cheaper. I've earmarked a bond for the roof budget as my house is the same age as hers mid 1960s.

Sunny and bright here so a couple loads of washing done and mostly dry. I was out and didn't get back until just after 4pm it probably should have come in a little while before.

    Beans on toast for lunch.

Sainsbury's on offer chicken roasted for dinner with veg and new potatoes. It said feed up to 8 which maybe my mum could have but it would be small portions, she could stretch a roast with lots of veg 🙂 it also said cook in 1hour 45 I took it out after 1.20 (oven not AF) and the meat was falling off the leg. These days they seem to give way too much time to cook chicken!

Hard getting out of a warm bed this morning, my heating has come on as well, first time this winter period.

Roof is complete strip, new breathable membrane which replaces felt, & new battens, new fangled ridge tile system & gable end thingys instead of cement filling. Plus one new gable end rafter where rain has got past the cement filling over the years.

Scaffolding went up yesterday PM, start work tomorrow and just in time because wet & wind forecast mid week. FWIW Brambling, mid 60s as well, and I'm not the first to need it in the road. The ouch cost hurts even more when VAT is bunged on top. 😮

Lunch, use up mushrooms in omelette

Dinner, easy frozen RM stab & ping, trying an Asda protein one which I saw decent reviews on

We had to get our roof done when we first moved here and it was over £10,000. Definite ouch.

I had some fruit and then a wrap with these vegan chicken tikka bits and lettuce. Quite nice.

I am not sure what else to have but we have lots of food in at the moment. Ocado had a fill your fridge offer and I went a bit over the top.
