Caron, tinned tuna instead of fresh mackerel, just not the same is it? Making me think when was last time I had fresh mackerel? I used to get them from Morries but seem to have got out of the habit. I'll look next time I'm there

Lunch, toasted stale crust with TBD topping

Dinner, rinse & repeat, 50p C & O pasty, salad + LO HM potato salad. The 50p C & O pasty is OK for 50p, at least they are not trying to fool anyone it is posh.

No it wasn't Farway lol!

Mainly sandy beaches here but quite shingly in places so jelly shoes a good bet. My town has two beaches and both are very well used all year round. The main beach with the promenade has been heaving the last few days.

Another hot and sunny one here, between the heat and a rather brutal physio session I'm for a gentle day pottering. The JO egg with grains dish was really good. It's in the lunch section of the book so I boosted the grains mix with a tin of lentils and served it with a big salad to make it more sunstantial. There's grains mix LO which will do nicely for lunch either some more of the rotisserie chook or some AF falafels. CFO tonight dinner is tbc I'll see what I fancy later.

Another pleasant day here, warm and sunny but with a refreshing breeze. Could get used to this ☀️

Posh fishfinger sandwich with the end of the HM coleslaw for lunch. Chinese pork steak on the bbq tonight with a peanut, sesame and vegetable noodle salad 😋

Brambling

Unfortunately mackerel is no longer as cheap as it used to be but I do like it either pan fried or soused, but I can't do it as good as my mum.

Window guys arrived at 8am and worked through their lunch so we're off at 2pm to sort the van. They're back tomorrow with the builders to do the back door and French window. His lordship has not been impressed by the men in the house making a lot of noise. There was a accident pail cutting of my phone / Internet line which luckily he fixed.

I managed to grab a quick lunch of cheese, crackers and tomato for lunch.

Another hot one here, I'm just waiting for my sis to come off shift and collect Ari and then I'll see what I can get done before I need to retreat from the heat until it cools down a bit later.

Fridge gravel picky plate for lunch. Trying a new Hugh F-W recipe from his high fibre book for dinner - spicy tofu with spinach and edamame beans which we'll have with salad and pitta. It's supposed to be a one pot job but I'll probably AF the tofu before adding to the dish as I like it nice and crispy.

Restless night with the heat, so up early & off to Morries, bread, milk, salad bits & YS mooch. I forgot the blooming milk 😠

However all well for salad & found a properly reduced YS, half price MFO chicken tikka. Most of the other YS only had a few bob knocked off and not real good buys for OOD items. No doubt the tikka was down to clear given the baking heat

Brambling Unfortunately mackerel is no longer as cheap as it used to be. I did look, but only spotted prepack of two, not CFO friendly. Normally Morries have them out on fish counter, but I suppose heat keeps them off. I could've asked, but CBA by then

Office today, quite cool and needed jacket on when I went out, lovely warm, sunny afternoon at home time. LO peanut sesame noodles for lunch. Just made a yummy chargrilled peach, sage and feta salad served with rustic garlic bread (slices of good bread toasted on the bbq and rubbed with garlic 😋)

Sitting out with my book now.

window fitters, four today arrived at 8am and did both French windows and fitted a new back door before finishing at 12. His lordship wasn't as scared as I expected, he just didn't know what to do with himself, I did put him in my bedroom where he was happy until I left him. New French doors have confused him 😁 I how have no curtains in the back so hoping it doesn't reach 30+ again, I don't think the curtain pole will take the weight of full length curtains and I'm dithering what to put there once the decorating is done.

I did all my ironing early whilst the guys were working and before it got too warm, there has been a nice breeze today so not so muggy.

Last bagel for lunch with egg and cress mayo.

Blue cheese and fig salad for dinner.

Brambling I how have no curtains in the back so hoping it doesn't reach 30+ again, No such luck, supposed to be keeping on for a bit longer. At least you have posh windows now and hopefully warmer come winter

Up early again, heat, and out picking blackberries from garden at 7.30. Not enough to have crumble, so I'm freezing them until my apples come along

Good morning everyone,

Another hot and sunny one here. Like yesterday I'm trying to get the routine kitchen chores out of the way before it gets too hot in there. Load of laundry number 2 is about finish and then I'll get my bedding done. Managed a small amount of greenhouse tidying early evening once the temp became more tolerable and later today I want to do similar in the garden. This afternoon I'll finalise my Tesco order in the relative cool of my garden.

The Hugh F-W tofu dish was really very good and air frying the tofu first worked well. I made the full base so there's LOs of that for lunch, JO's speedy cod curry for dinner Speedy cod curry | Jamie Oliver recipes with rice/cauli rice and salad.
