Heavy frost and fog today when I went out at 2pm it was still 1c and foggy.

i popped to the hospital again, where I left out of favour for refusing all hour to take her home! Then house cleaning and dinner prep for feeding my sister and mutual friends.

I marinated and cooked the half side of salmon I brought yesterday and did new potatoes, rice salad, coleslaw , green salad and a buckwheat and feta salad with pomegranate dressed with a pomegranate molasses dressing 😋 unfortunately no salmon left overs but enough salad bits left for tomorrow.  I cheated and brought and lemon tart and raspberries.

my friends are helping out with lunch at a homeless shelter so left at 11 my sister is staying over and we are ready to go to bed, decided that after finishing clearing up we'll see in new year and go straight to our beds.

    Happy New Year everyone

    Happy New Year to everyone.

Very frosty start to the day, but dry at least

I'm off out soon, so meals depend on what I eat, or not, while I'm out. I'm supposed to be having lunch out with a friend, but that may change depending on how busy the venue is

    Happy New Year everyone.

The North wind doth blow and we have snow showers, the Met office website says the “feels like” temp will go down to -8⁰ later on today, so I’m glad I have nowhere to go  :#

After JKS mentioned avocado and eggs a few days ago I couldn’t resist picking up a pack of 4 small ones in @ldi, one feels ripe so for lunch I’ll have it smashed on toast with a poached egg and a drizzle of hot sauce.

Tonight I’ll use up some of the leftover Christmas turkey I brought back with me in the obligatory festive curry.

The dinner was delicious yesterday, especially the roast potatoes! Yum. I just saw it said it might snow here tomorrow. I'm going to a class tomorrow so I am going to get out my walking boots just in case it is icy. I haven't worn them since I bought them. I just checked and I bought them last January!

It is meant to be really cold on Saturday and Sunday and I am going on walks on both days. I had better get out my scarves and gloves and maybe even my mittens and hat.

I am going to have a shower and then make a smoothie. I have lots of veg leftover so I might make soup for lunch as I have some nice bread in the fridge.

Another frosty morning but not as cold as yesterday and gone by mid morning.  I helped my sister start her car, she has battery problems, we were rather impressed by ourselves 😁

After lunch I went to the hospital to visit my friend, she wasn't having a good day she was very confused and is going downhill mentally every day.  I'm not sure she knew me she thought we worked together (she's been retired nearly 30 years).  I sat with her for a couple of hours and read when she was dozing,  I have told them again that she wasn't like this before her fall and she had a UTI before Christmas so could it be that? If she stays like this she wouldn't be going home.  They are depressing places geriatric rehabilitation wards, I'm volunteering the next couple of days so a neighbour is going in tomorrow.

LO salad and sides for lunch with some prawns.

I had some rice salad with no dressing so made egg fried rice and had with some stir fry chicken for dinner.

I was doing my lunch for tomorrow when I turn and knocked it flying off the counter a little stayed in the container but most went all over the floor 😕 I cobbled together another lunch just not with LOs and washed the floor at 8pm and then knocked the bucket over  :'( luckily I hadn't put much water in. And no I hadnt been drinking 🙄

Happy new year everyone. I was hosting yesterday so did the patented best cleaning you ever do is hours before visitors arrive plus last minute food shopping and then the prep. Had a lovely evening and there were some LOs 😉

Visitors went home before the bells but I had a cuppa and did the clearing up with the radio on so heard the new year in, still don’t get it 😆

Quiet day today, thought about a walk but so cold and no sign of the sun unlike yesterday.

LO chicken with salad and LO bread roll for lunch. Made a sort of tartiflette bake tonight with LO cooked new potatoes, LO bacon, LO cream and a bit of the Christmas brie. Had with lettuce and pickled gherkins 😋

Morning all, quite sunny and frost-free, I was expecting the worst from the forecast but it seems that was wrong again.

Not such good news on your friend Brambling, but it's good she has you and others to look in, not just company, but to check on her progress and care.
My mum stopped eating, she "forgot" about food, or it was left out of her reach, and the nurses never noticed / cared until we pointed it out.

After a spell of flat batteries during Covid I bought a booster, and am still amazed a little pack, small enough to fit in glove compartment, can start a car.
Something like these, well worth it IMO
Come in different power sizes, so big heavy diesel needs more power

Lunch, Christmas use up, smoked salmon & scrambled eggs
    Dinner, LO savoury mince

It might be delirium Brambling. My MIL had that, it is very common with people who go into hospital when they are older. I hadn't heard of it before, but seem to hear about it since then.

I haven't eaten yet but will have my usual toast and smoothie after my shower. It is lovely and sunny again, but cold. I have the heating on.

    Good morning everyone,
    Very cold and blowy here.
I had a lovely day yesterday with the kids and my sis. Steak pie dinner was enjoyed and there was enough to make up couple of meals for my nephew. There's various bits of cooked veg LO which I'll go through today and either use or freeze. Most of the clearing up was done last night so just a final dishwasher load of glasses and dessert bowls to tackle. I made a huge fruit salad for dessert and thought there might be quite a lot LO but it was all eaten. It was a lovely light pud after a fairly heavy main. Lunch is going to be a bacon and tomato sandwich using up the last bagel. Dinner is tbc.

Lots of Aberdeenshire children will be very happy today, we had quite a bit of snow overnight and it was that perfect snowman making and sledging stuff. Our gardener spent quite a bit of time clearing access routes and paths this morning however there’s an amber warning until 12noon tomorrow so he may well have to come back again.

For lunch it was definitely a soup day and tonight I’ll do a veg and pesto pasta with some garlic bread.
