Good afternoon everyone,
Grey and raw here and supposed to drop to well below freezing tonight.
This morning my sis, my oldest friend and I went to the final church service in the church local to where we grew up. Although not from religious families our families were heavily involved with the Guides and Boys Brigade and the place was full of folk like us from that time. It's a massive building plus halls and a huge manse so it will be interesting to see what happens to it. Lunch when I got back was some LO salmon and roast veg with a green salad. Turkey and veg soup for dinner tonight. I've made a large pot as my sister has been promised some and I want to freeze portions as well. A little turkey remains which I'll freeze for a future meal. Half of the carcass is still in the freezer so the 11lb bird did us well. Didn't get as far a prepping the cheap Christmas veg for the freezer, I'll see how the day goes and maybe do some later. It's currently in old pillowcases in breathable bags in a cool room so will last for ages. I've a Tesco order coming tomorrow and I'm hoping for more cheap carrots and swedes before the offer ends.3 -
I had a nice day. I had my class and then went to Cafe Nero and Holland & Barrett on the way home. I was hungry when I got in and had some crackers with the spicy dip I bought. I’m going to make a smoothie and I might make jacket potatoes with baked beans and a burger or something from the freezer tonight.2

More productive today, not difficult 😅
Bed stripped and remade, dusting and hoovering, kitchen floor washed, bit of decluttering, went for a swim. Also watched the battle of the sexes tennis, slightly underwhelmed tbh…
Smashed avocado and poached eggs on really yummy seeded sourdough toast (a loaf I picked up in Waitrose pre Christmas and chucked in the freezer so I had bread in) for lunch. Chorizo, red pepper and sweetcorn flatbread pizza with coleslaw and salad tonight.2 -
Good morning everyone,
Grey, slightly misty and very cold here today.
I wish I could say I had a productive day yesterday but apart from routine chores and finishing making the turkey and veg soup it ended up fairly slothful. I intend to crack on today as Tesco are arriving later so I want to give the fridge a good check over/wipe down. I might also make some more soup. The turkey soup was delicious, we both had decent bowlfuls for dinner, there's a 1l tub for my sister to take away and there will be still enough left for our lunch and two further meals for the two of us. Eggs for dinner tonight, probably omelette with veg or salad and AF chips.2 -
Bright grey & cold, no frost but feels close to itMy productive yesterday was making a trifle, using LO cake & tinned fruit. I had bought a jelly just for this. Not tried, but it's set and in the fridge waiting for me to pounce laterLunch, last of the BLT itemsDinner, fancying something warm & slightly more healthy, using the cheap veg I'll do a mixed veg roast veg tray bake,, probably meat free meal, but I could chuck a couple of sausages inWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray2

It feels much colder again. I put the heating on, but it seemed to be taking ages to warm up so I moved the halogen heater downstairs instead. I’m getting a sofa delivered today as well as a new clock and book so it will be better to use that as the front door will be opened a few times.
I just had a cup of Yorkshire tea and a whole meal roll with Flora. I might make jacket potatoes with baked beans for lunch.2 -
Oh that is why I fancy jacket and beans as I didn’t make it yesterday in the end.🤣2

Clear sunny skies but definitely very chilly here too. I took a quick trip to@ldi for a few essentials.
I couldn't decide what I fancied for lunch and ended up snacking on crusty bread, spreading cheese, cucumber and crisps.
Dinner will be more of the roast pork and use up the last of the leeks and brussel sprouts to go with it.

It's been chilly Today, just as well it's always hot in the bookshop. We were really busy again, I think we need a new rule about children should be accompanied by a responsible adult keeping them under control rather than letting them run wild whilst they drink coffee and gossip 🙄 i think most of us have developed a look to corral the kids without offending parents.
My elderly friend has been in hospital since a fall early Boxing Day morning, she was moved late today to our local 'cottage' hospital which will make it easier and they have a great rehabilitation unit for the elderly. She didn't break anything but her neighbour and I have stepped back a little to demonstrate she has no family and needs a care plan before coming home again.
I came home from Petworth via her doctor surgery to have a chat there as we have been trying to process some support via them. I forgot to get milk so popped in to Waitrose after 6.30pm and picked up a free jar of bonne mama strawberry and rhubarb conserve 😋 (voucher) and struck lucky on the meat and fish counters, two sea bass, three rump steaks (cut from a joint) 1 lamb shank, and a piece of tailend fillet steak and some beef skirt all for under a tenner 😁 made up for forgetting the milk earlier.
I forgot to take my lunch to volunteering and brought a cheese scone for lunch.I picked up YS Singapore noodles RM in Waitrose (£2 down from £5.30 🙂) for dinner, I would buy again if I found them YSLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin1 -
Grey and cold here, even rained a bit early evening.
Done a big pile of ironing today while catching up with some telly shows, been swimming and been into town for a few errands and to look at a few shops sales - got a couple of good bargains 😁
Ham and coleslaw sandwich with cherry tomatoes for lunch. Salmon with broccoli and pesto pasta tonight.1
