It feels chilly. I just put the heating on. I just had to slice up and freeze the bananas as they went brown. I prefer them underripe.
I bought pittas and lemon and coriander houmous yesterday so that is probably my brunch along with lettuce and tomatoes.2 -
Blue sky & sunshine, but very cold, best observed from afar & not out in itSame about your neighbour Bramblng, but stepping back a bit is a good idea, with services & money so tight, Social services are always looking to get others involvedI had a heck of a hard time trying to get them involved with my mother, despite me over 50 miles away, and her GP was useless as well. I hope it works better in Sussex than it did in Wilts.Brambling, another nice haul in Waitrose againLunch, use up last of the mini pork pies + mustardDinner, try again for roast tray veggies, didn't feel like prepping them when the time came round yesterdayNumerus non sum2

Good morning everyone,
I hope your friend gets some support in place Brambling.
Very frosty here today but the sun is shining. I'm off out for lunch with friends but I'm getting picked up so won't have too much ice to negotiate. Dinner is tbc depending on what I have for lunch. DS2 is talking about making dal so I may have some of that or some of the spicy carrot and parsnip soup I made yesterday.2 -
Another lovely sunny but bitterly cold day. I took an early bus into the City to catch up with a friend and had a late breakfast of hot chocolate and a toasted teacake.
I managed a quick browse and picked up a few items in M&S foodhall before getting the bus home.
All I needed for lunch was some crackers with pate and a handful of grapes.
Dinner will be some gammon I have in the freezer, with salad, pickles and coleslaw.

Still grey and cold here, there is talk of snow and I passed two gritters earlier.
Another pottering day, did a load of washing to keep on top of it (love my heated airer), shopped for entertaining tomorrow evening (need to get a couple of things tomorrow), bit more sorting and tidying.
Avocado and scrambled eggs on toast for lunch. Prawn and broccoli Thai red curry with noodles tonight.2 -
Unfortunately I don't think it does! I had a long conversation with her occupational health therapist today and corrected her on a few things my friend was over exaggerating what she could do. if they send her home too early and something happens at least I know I tried. I got her some bits and took them to the hospital, she turned down the clothes I took in for her, its rehabilitation so they want the patient dressed I'll try again and let them argue with her, she still very confused as to where she is which isn't good.Farway said:Same about your neighbour Bramblng, but stepping back a bit is a good idea, with services & money so tight, Social services are always looking to get others involvedI had a heck of a hard time trying to get them involved with my mother, despite me over 50 miles away, and her GP was useless as well. I hope it works better in Sussex than it did in Wilts.Brambling, another nice haul in Waitrose againI went to Tesco first thing I wanted a half side of salmon to cook tomorrow night and only have single portions in the freezer. It was 'interesting' around the assistant marking down a huge amount of YS meat there was a large lady blocking the fridge and grabbing everything as soon as it was priced she had filled three very large bags until they were overflowing. I decided I didn't need anything after my Waitrose haul but the assistant turned and handed me a pile of stuff as I walked pass saying 'have you seen how much she's taking that all meat and I don't want her to have it all' my sis was happy when I dropped off 2 packs of 2 chicken breasts 56p a pack, 2 packs of 350g beef stir fry 75p a pack, 1 pack Korean pork belly slices £1, a spatchcock poussin £1, she helps feed my nephew and his family once or twice a week so it helps her. I kept some crevettes which were £1 😁. The assistant then walked away leaving a large pile not reduced. She was back a little later finishing after the lady had left but I just walked pass and smiled. Unfortunately my salmon wasn't on offer but my bargains more than paid for it.Lunch after my hospital visit was those crevettes with a crusty roll and salad 😋 I resisted a large glass of something alcoholicBeef and vegetable stir fry using my Waitrose skirt steak with soba noodles.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin2 -
Hard frost, blue sky & sunshine, very cold, I even resorted to putting the electric fire on just to give me a quick heat up
As you say, not good.Brambling said:

Or small savoury mince?Numerus non sum2 -
Good morning,
Grey, raw and damp here today. It was freezing hard at bed time but clouded over and nudged above freezing overnight so no icy pavements today. Although the pavements were well gritted yesterday it was still pretty slippy underfoot but thankfully I managed not to tumble! I had a lovely catch up with my friends, we had lunch and then went to Costa to natter further and it was early evening when I got home. DS2 had hoovered etc. and made a really tasty green veg and lentil curry using up some lurking sprouts, broccoli and green beans. He'll have the LOs for lunch while I'm going to have a bowl of the spicy carrot and parsnip soup I made on Monday, DS1 & DIL will arrive late afternoon though they are not spending the evening here but going to friends. We'll have a family dinner here tomorrow to celebrate the New Year so I need to get myself organised and get the steak pie filling made and prep the veg today. I've a piece of pork fillet defrosting for dinner tonight, what I'll do with it is tbc.
ETA - wishing everyone a Happy New Year when it comes as probably won't get the chance to post tomorrow.2 -
From what I heard from my husband they seemed very eager to send my M-in-law home from the hospital even though she clearly wasn't in any state to take care of herself. Disgraceful.
I am only having a smoothie as I decided to cook for two and make us a special dinner for NYE. I'm making garlic bread and then vegan "steaks" with roast potatoes and a salad. Ice cream and fresh fruit for dessert and my husband will buy us a bottle of bubbly.

Quite a heavy frost on car windscreens this morning but lovely clear and sunny skies again.
Caught up some household chores this morning and I had hoped my parcel would have arrived by now but tracking keeps indicating “out for delivery” so I’m stuck at home twiddling my thumbs.
I found a small chunk of gruyere in the freezer so had a cheese and coleslaw salad for lunch.
Dinner is hm sausage roll, also from the freezer, with mashed potato and baked beans.
