Friday volunteering followed by the small office Xmas do afterwards just a small buffet from Sainsbury's although no bronze for me as I was driving. It was only a couple of hours but good to see the volunteers from other days.

i picked up 15p veg from Sainsbury's (as it's easier) at 8.30am and put it in the car boot, all my shopping for less than a £1 😁 the Waitrose shop is delivered tomorrow, I dithered over a chicken but decided that could wait until after Christmas.  Sainsbury's were a little disorganised only a third of their SS tills opened and one checkout, there was quite a queue, luckily most were using the scanner.

Pasta salad with salmon (cooked salmon was in the freezer) with enough for tomorrow lunch at Petworth.  No need to cook dinner tonight.  After sorting my book shelves earlier and hanging my washing I'm now catching up on the masterchef final with a small G&T as I couldn't drink earier

  • It is so good that they offer such cheap veg at this time of year.

I have just had some choc mint tea ( which I don't really enjoy!) I bought a herbal tea while I was in Brighton which is horrible as I tried it yesterday. It will have to be binned!

I am about to have a smoothie and then sourdough toast before I go out. I am having tomatoes, cucumber and balsamic glaze on top. I might be eating out for lunch and I have some wraps I got out of the freezer so it will be bean fajitas for dinner. I have everything except for avocado so I will be buy that while I'm out along with some of those clementines with leaves on them if I can find some.

    Good morning everyone,
Oh the thought of choc mint tea makes me squirm though I'm fond of peppermint tea.
    Dry but grey here today.
DS2 bought our Christmas tree last night- reduced to clear at B&M for £5! He said they had a really good selection of sizes all for a fiver. Although it's not potted it won't go to waste after Christmas as they collect them for the dune restoration projects each year. We'll get it and the fairy lights up in the conservatory this afternoon.
DS1 & DIL are coming for lunch tomorrow before going to see friends. I'll make a pot of carrot and coriander soup and cook some drumsticks to have with salad for us.
I roasted some of the drumsticks for last night, I only had one so LOs with salad for lunch. I've diced pork defrosting to make JO's sweet and sour pork for dinner.

Sun & blue sky are back this morning, bit breezy as well.

I've tried herbal over the years, never really liked it except one, lemon & ginger, I think it was. These days I just use loose leaf

I'd forgotten clementines, I don't need leaves on, but would like some that I've always known as tangerines, but these days seem to be called everything but that. I'll add to my Asda delivery list later

Lunch, BLT, last of the B today
Dinner, grilled pork chop & maybe tray bake 5p veg, never did it yesterday, time ran away from me

  • Lots of Christmas merriment and charity collecting around town today, first Harley Santa surprised a few shoppers and this evening we have the “Tractor Parade” where loads of the farmers decorate their vehicles and tour around the town.

Went out early to the bakers and the fishmonger, got some haddock for dinner tonight which I’ll coat in panko crumbs and shallow fry. The fillets are quite large so I wont need any chips, just some veg and a slice of bread and butter.

Lemon and ginger is the only one I like too, some one gave me some liquorice and peppermint tea pigs and I couldn't find anyone who liked them, they were so sweet (it said natural) they ended up in the bin as it was covid and I couldn't leave them in the office.

Petworth today, it was really busy and we sold a lot of books 🙂 I did stay for the choir which wasn't until 5.30pm home was calling me. It's the last day of late nights for Christmas.

lunch was a repeat of yesterday, salmon pasta salad.  I forgot to take dinner out of the freezer so had jacket potato and cheese with salad for dinner.

waitrose shop was delivered on time with no substitutions.  Today Ocardo offered me a Christmas Eve slot, which was no longer needed. Looking at the app they seemed to have released a lot between tomorrow and Christmas Eve!

Overnight rain for the Solstice, hope the Druids had the wellies on down Stonehenge., It's brightening up now, still damp though

I was awake a lot during the night, no real reason, just failing to sleep, so up early and put the Morries, half price, beef joint in to roast.
It is sort of for the Christmas period, use by is 26, but as I'm at DD on 25th I thought now is a good time.
If it's settled and cooled enough that is lunch sorted

Have to finalise & amend my Asda delivery later, it's all done, just need to check what my have gone out of stock etc.

    Lunch, roast beef sarnie
Dinner, roast beef will figure, not sure with what, 5P veggies or not?

    Good morning everyone,
Roast beef dinner sounds good Farway.
Cold, grey and wet here this morning. It's supposed to dry up later.
DS1 and DIL are due shortly. The kids are going brave the weather and give the pooches a good walk before returning here for lunch. I've made a pot of carrot and coriander using most of a bag of the cheap carrots. I'll roast some chicken drumsticks and there's ham, cheese, salad and rolls too. No plans for dinner, we'll probably just use up LOs from lunch.
  • Okay start to the day but some rain due to arrive this afternoon. So glad we’ve reached the solstice, I am getting so fed up with the short dark days, although it will be a couple of months before we really notice the difference.

Not much cooking required today as I’m eating out of the freezer so it’s more of a “ping” day = scotch broth for lunch, then chicken and black bean chilli with a baked sweet potato and some red cabbage slaw for dinner.

  • I lit a candle as it is the solstice. I would love to go to Stonehenge one year, maybe for the summer one, though!

I was going to meet a new group of people today, but I had too many wines at a local bar last night. :D I am having my usual toast, Flora and Vegemite.

I am cooking for two later and I'm making vegan Juicy Marbles "steaks", jacket potatoes, asparagus in garlic and olive oil and a salad of tomatoes, cucumber and avocado. I did find some clementines with leaves at a local greengrocer later so I will be having some later. Probably something small in the evening or just snacks.
