I went out, for carrots and onions. Onions 55p/Kg and 500g of carrots at 26p.

Also picked up a pack of six sausage rolls :) Also a tin of rice pudding and a tin of plum tomatoes. And a bottle of bleach as it was there and you can never have enough bleach....

I've since cooked the onions/carrots and added them to the chilli, which is looking/tasting like a good one.

EDIT: Couldn't wait any longer and served a portion, with a toasted roll. Nom nom. I'll have another portion in a few minutes as it's too good to wait.

EDIT: Had seconds. Trouble is, the rest of it's now calling my name. It must weigh 1Kg so I can't eat it ALL today!

EDIT: I've just decanted the remainder into a takeaway box and it's in the fridge. That bit weighs 580 grams, so 2 portions still to enjoy!
  • Just got back here from freezing my !!! off again - for the 3rd time in 2 days.....shivers. Thank goodness I've done this/that/that/you name it to my house and made sure it's nice and warm...

:beer:Happy Birthday kittie indeed and that's always a good excuse for a "special" type meal. You do know you're allowed a glass (or three) of wine with it don't you?:) (strike through - make that champagne - or whatever else a bit more "special" takes your fancy).
  • Happy Birthday Kittie. I must have missed that the first time.
This is something CFOs will recognise - if you are invited out you need several days ahead to plan what you eat/buy and cook because you don't want to waste something, or buy something you needn't have done.

    Yes, exactly.

    Happy Birthday Kittie

A lovely sunny nearly Spring day here, tempted to get into garden, but the temptation soon passed:)

Lild YS patrol this morning produced one ready meal Mac & cheese plus some peppered ham slices, two days dinners right there I think

Lunch was now normal BF ham salady sarnie

Dinner was going to be the Mac & cheese, but I feel like having something a bit lighter, sort of.
Decided on last of my HM celery soup, followed by scrambled eggs [nuked] on toast, with grilled toms

The YS ham will be tomorrow, maybe with salad & baked spud, or with egg & chips if CBA

Great minds alike on tax, paid mine on Wednesday, bit early but just don't like it hanging over me.
I'm sure with a bit of joined up Government they could just take my tax from the heating allowance and "free" TV licence. Or even give me a bit less old age pension, guess it all makes work for the working man / woman

I am slowly working my way through the list of things to try out and I was very pleasantly surprised by celeriac, it being so ugly, will have a look for J.O's recipe.

The next one on my list is Jerusalem Artichoke which I will try soon despite the bad press it gets - I am CFO after all :rotfl: - then when its in season in late summer I must give kohlrabi a go.

I did grow all the above years ago on my allotment, but found that we did not really like or use them enough to warrant it. The J artichokes make a nice sunflower like plant
I did same with horseradish, but just how much horseradish does one need to eat warrant growing the stuff?

    Good afternoon everyone,

Contemplating gardening:eek::eek:, crikey it will be at least , 6 weeks before this even hits my radar, though I'll sort through my seeds next month and do a bit of planning :)

Lunch was tasty - hummous from the freezer with sliced avocado on toast. As seems to be the new "normal" I didn't fancy breakfast. Tonight I think it will be a "bung it in the oven" job of gammon steak, flat mushrooms, baked tom and sweet potato wedges. :)

It's snowing/sleeting again and we are back on "amber alert" for wind/snow/ice until later this evening. So glad my son decided to postpone travelling here until tomorrow as it will be much worse along the M74!

:bdaycake:_party_ happy 70th birthday Kittie, I hope you have a wonderful day, whatever or wherever you choose to celebrate. X

Just had small bag of kettle crisp, as my dd1 is coming to stay at the local wetherspo@@n doing a market force, so has said for me to join them for tea and a few drinks which will be nice ,just wish the weather was better!!

Never mind, Easter Eggs any day now, or maybe RFQ YS choccy hearts on 15th Feb:)

Dinner turned out fine, scrambled egg in nuker is soo easy just in case anyone, Mr LP excepted, who has not tried that method

With toast & grilled toms not much [STRIKE]washing up [/STRIKE]to put in dishwasher

Last of the HM soup also gone, it will be a bit before the urge to make some more takes me, especially now I have the "just in case" in stock again

The sunny weather did not last long, forecast is back to wind & rain tonight:( Thank heavens for newly acquired Nutflix

Annoyingly sorting out and relisting my tin cupboard seemed to take up far more time than it should have today  but it's done now:D, just the other four shelves of "stuff" to tackle:eek: (including the very low one that will be left until I'm feeling a bit more bendy :rotfl:) Discovered I still had the tin of corned beef I mentioned way back in the early days of the original CFO thread and few other long time lurkers (large tin of globe artichoke hearts anyone?):o must get these on the use up list :)

Weather here is wild but no more snow though there's plenty near by, it's blinking cold though - roll on Spring:)
