Irenadler - hope all is well with your little dog:grouphug:

I work in the coldest spot in our store and I have fingerless gloves, though this year they provided touchscreen gloves so we could use the till, I have to say the fingerless are warmer. My hubby used to laugh at me getting undressed as I peeled off layer after layer. 5 layers today and that's inside!!!

    That is :eek:cold:eek:.

I can get where he's coming from - as I spent quite some time when I first moved here gawping a bit at watching people peeling off layers of clothes when they came indoors of a winter. Where I'm from - it's probably a coat/jacket (that maybe hasnt even been done up - and I still usually don't do mine up) and there might be a pair of gloves. There is probably a scarf- but they're usually worn just as accessories.

So I can understand the "HOW much clothing are they wearing?"

But you are talking to the woman who remembers someone in her group saying to her - as we walked past Buckingham Palace one time (yep....a demonstration in London...) that "Would I please put something more on my top half than just my bra?":rotfl:Well - it was a hot summers day...and I was somewhat younger then...

Ventured out in garden this afternoon as sun came out. My new greenhouse has taken a hammering with the wind, frame is bent and door hanging loose. Really upset as not even sowed a seed in it yet. Have texted my lovely man to bring his toolbox this weekend and see if he can fix it.

That's sad news Meg, is it metal framed?

I've not been down the garden to check mine but I expect it to be fine because it has stood a lot worse wind than last night's. My only casualty was a large clay pot blown off the top of the green waste wheelie bin, luckily the pot landed on soil so not broken

Early 2018 Christmas dinner was OK, I binned the roasted cauli, just did not fancy it, but as the whole cauli was a YS at 5p I don't feel guilty at binning a penny

I've got the mince pies out and hope to warm 2 of the 6 in the mini oven later to go with last of pot of Greek yoghurt. A proper use up day

Reading all the cold tales, with my volunteering I am too hot, I volunteer at Age Concern and temperature is suitable for those oldies who feel the cold, and who knows, it may be the only warm place there is for some of them

I always feel sorry for the young girl in the greengrocers, always cold in there with door open as well, but she is part of the owner family and is wrapped up well
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

:rotfl::rotfl:I wasnt planning on being a "downright distraction" meg...
I could attract quite enough attention to that part of my anatomy without "upping the odds" on doing so back then:rotfl:

Well - when you've got a pretty short neck - then you have to wear v-necks and not polonecks don't you?;) Well - that was what I always used to think....I'd just do up an extra button or two if visiting my parents or the like...

Bit worried about the little dog, she had high readings on a liver function test (something about too many enzymes in her blood count). Please keep your fingers crossed all, I really, really hope it's nothing sinister, as I would feel really lost without her....:(
I hope you're little dog is ok x

Ventured out in garden this afternoon as the Sun came out. Really upset to find new greenhouse has taken a hammering in the wind. Frame bent anddoor hanging loose. Have text my lovely man to bring his toolbox this weekend. Lol Steak and chips if he fixes it bread and water if he cant.
No other real damage just a few containers blown over .
Oh meg, I hope it's fixable. My very elderly (at least 40 years old) greenhouse gets a little more warped every year but it can usually be hammered back into enough shape to function so fingers' crossed yours is the same.

The weather has turned dire again and I think I have a touch of the "winter blues". A combination I think of the weather, the "novelty" of being CFO again after the festive houseful wearing off and I'm fairly sure I'm edging back into another active Meniere's phase which always grinds me down. :(Consequently I've kind of mouldered today so an early night I think and hopefully I'll feel more positive tomorrow;). Before I head to bed I will write down what I have achieved today (which is always more than I think when you count the small things) as I always finds that helps me get to sleep in a more positive frame of mind:)

Sorry to hear that Meg. I hope your man can fix it.

No CFO at all here to report.

I feel the need for something very hot, spicy with plenty of garlic to counteract the fever, chills, shakes, bunged up nose etc and lack of appetite and taste buds.

No way I'm cooking though. If I feel hungry enough tomorrow I may get an Indian Take away. I hate being ill but I am a firm believer in the benefit of hot spices, garlic and lots of fluids when fighting a virus like this (even a couple of mouthfuls is better than nothing?) oh and fresh air.

Mind you ask me a different day and I'd say just keep up the fluids as your body needs the energy to fight the virus not digest food?

I'm wittering sorry: I can't think straight atm. I think I should go back to bed :o

  • I've long been an advocate of "burning it out" re colds. That being - hot spicy foods (the ideal time to have a curry). Also facial steaming for instance (towel over head and face over bowl of steaming hot water for some minutes).

I believe medical research has indeed confirmed, in recent years, re hot spicy foods are indeed rather efficacious in these circumstances.

On that note - I've just walked in the door (duly frozen again) and didnt have the chance of that brandy I was hoping for. Tea or instant coffee - oh well:(.

Time to make a hot milk drink with raw cocoa/honey/nutmeg....

Another fan here of lots of spice for the lurgy.:)

MTSTM - not had cocoa for ages and ages, think tonight is just the night for one in bed with my book in a few minutes (and just might add a small splosh of the "cooking" brandy :)) ;)
