I'm really confused today I volunteered at Petworth as it's half term so I keep thinking it's Saturday which is my usual day
another busy day with people queuing to get in when I arrived 10 minutes before the gates opened. I believe on Monday they closed Nymens and Wakehurst and Sunday there were issues at Sheffield Park due to the numbers of visitors and issues with parking. I did notice today there were a lot of weary grandparents, trailing after grandkids, one said to me 'it's been a long week of child care'
Last of a bag of watercress for lunch with Parma ham and cheese. Cottage pie and vegetables for dinner all cooked yesterday so just needed pinging

It wasn't raining yesterday when I got my hair done, but of course it is now when I'm due to go into London! I wanted to finally get my passport photos done as well.
I have had a chai latte and I'm going to use some of the fresh stuff that is left over. I'm going to use the end of the bag of spinach in a banana smoothie, the last two crusts of bread for toast with mashed avocado, if it is ripe!0 -
Yet another dull, grey day. But dry and quite mild, so no heating required yet.Lunch, more BLT sarnieDinner, the fresh haddock loin from Morries I bought yesterday. Not sure how I'm going to cook it yet, oven in foil or gently fry in butter / oil?Anyway, with LO nuked mash & frozen peasEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
In foil with a knob of butter for me please Farway. Coincidentally last night I had salmon baked in foil with diced pepper, shallots and cherry tomatoes. I had it with green beans and a baked spud and it was blooming lovely.
Gloomy but mild and dry so far here. I'm expecting DS1 to appear for a quick visit anytime when en route to pick up a mate. Not much planned for today, it's local big firework display here tonight. Hector isn't scared of the fireworks but gets upset with the dogs that are barking. Hopefully once the display is finished there won't be too many random one's going off later.
Veal schnitzel with veg, HM wedges and peppercorn soup for dinner. HM soup for lunch.0 -
Dull and grey here too, I went for a walk early on stopping at the cash machine and the fish shop. Town centre was really busy with the farmers market but I gave that a swerve just in case I was tempted to buy something I dont really need.
Lunch was a repeat of yesterday's tuna salad.
I picked up a piece of salmon for my tea and had planned to bake it with a parmesan and parsley crust but love the sound of what you had last night Caronc so I'm now undecided
Farway I agree with Caronc - baked in foil with a knob of butter

Grey and damp start to the day here, dried up but stayed grey , fairly mild though.Grocery shopping, laundry and life admin today.
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. Salmon with new potatoes and braised lettuce with peas and spring onions tonight.0 -
Change of plan for me today I was due to meet a friend in Chichester but she had to postpone yesterday so I met my sister for brunch at the strawberry farm cafe, it was very busy and noisy so after eating we came back here to finish catching up.
Firework display at the rugby club behind me tonight, just a couple of ear twitches and a raised head from his lordship and now that the neighbours behind me have removed their very tall leylandii hedge I had a free view from my kitchen window 🎆
no lunch required 😁. Snap on the veal schnitzel Caronc I used the YS rose veal escalopes brought at my last Waitrose shop, I had mine with chips and coleslaw

More dull, grey & dry weather, set for the week it seemsFIO, I finished up nuking, gently, the haddock, realised too late it was the yellow smoked and not the fresh. Tasty all the same.In hindsight, I would have been better poaching in milk because my milk had gone “off” by this morning.Luckily I have UHT just for such an emergencyLunch today, pork pie ploughman style with bit of saladDinner, bangers N mash. With fresh Savoy + fresh carrots.I'll cook bangers in the oven with some onions. Nice & warming on a grey dayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Hope you enjoyed your schnitzel as much as I did Brambling.
What did you do with your fish in the end N2BT?
Shame your haddock wasn't what you thought Farway but it's hard to beat smoked haddock. I'm trying this recipe with it tomorrow. Butter bean curry with smoked haddock recipe - BBC Food . I'll sort the paste and spice mix out this afternoon.
Bacon butty for lunch and roast chicken dinner tonight.0 -
Very chilly last night, but a beautiful sunny day so far. Its bonfire night here tonight and like Brambling I should be able to get a view of the fireworks from my kitchen window too.
Stuck with my plan last night Caronc, I'd already whizzed up the breadcrumbs, parmesan and parsley for this recipe Baked Salmon With Parmesan & Parsley Crust | Mary Berry. I love the sound of the smoked haddock recipe you're having tomorrow, will try that sometime soon.
Used up the last of the veggies this morning and made a sweet potato, chilli and coconut soup for my lunch.
Found a small portion of pasta sauce in the freezer so will use it up tonight with some spaghetti and turkey meatballs.Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
