Good morning everyone,
Dry and bright here though very cold. still just below freezing. No snow overnight but Arran has a good sprinkling on Goat Fell.
We had a bit of a calamity yesterday evening, I was just about to serve dinner when there was a thump and a yell from DS2. The, admittedly quite old, sofa he was sitting on had collapsed and is beyond repair. It's been shuffled off to the front room pending being dumped at weekend, the one in his room now in the lounge. It doesn't match my other one but will do for now.
Domestics today and a wee bit of admin.
Made a pot of veg soup yesterday so some of that will be lunch. Cottage pie for dinner using up LO meat & gravy from New Year.

I bought a bag of carrots in my Asda order and realised I have another bag in the fridge. I totally forgot today and opened a tin of carrot soup for lunch. Derr!
I'm not sure what to do with all those carrots. I'm going to look online for recipes.0 -
Gosh, your calamity must have been a bit scary for DS2, caronc! Excuse for new (matching) sofas 😉?
Very cold here today, sleet seen out of the office window and there had been a sprinkling of snow when I got home. Was glad of my portion of celery and Stilton soup for lunch. Made a pasta creation tonight with LO chicken, end of a chorizo, some tinned sweetcorn, tomato purée and creme fraiche. Served with broccoli and sugar snaps. LOs of LOs for lunch tomorrow 😋
I like carrots roasted with cumin, Wednesday2000 - make a nice warm salad with lentils.1 -
Shame the fried bread didn't work Farway, I'll just remember it fondly as I've never been able to reproduce the artery blocker my mum made 😬
Caronc it did cross my mind better your DS than you
Wednesday if taken out of their bag carrots should last a while in the fridge, I saw on tv to wrap in a damp Tea Towel I do have some left brought before Christmas and they still look ok, not slimy or soft 🙂
According to BBC we may get snow tomorrow lunchtime, it's been a lot colder again today and they say -7 overnight so windscreen cover has been put back on the car
Leek and potato soup for lunch with a baked vegetable frittata, I was given a recipe where you add cooked pasta to the veg and eggs which makes it quite filling. It was meant to be feed four but I see me getting 6 portions so I'll have to see if it freezes. Dinner was Chinese style pork with noodles, I made the pork last night in the pressure cooker as it used pork belly slices and I skimmed the fat off tonight before reheatingLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin2 -
Oooh, collapsing sofa, as said, best it was DS on it & not you. I went slowly backwards and downwards one Christmas as the plastic picnic chair I was sat on crumpled under me, no harm done thoughHard frost this morning, roads are tangled with ice and cars, DIL two hours late for work, granddaughter stuck on the college bus for ages and going nowhere. Hope you fare better Brambling if you have to go outAt least carrots keep for ages, Wednesday, luckily so does celery because mine has multiplied. I intend making a stew / curry or similar later this week, so a lot will go in thereMeals today, it's still use up timeLunch, grilled cheese on toast, a winter warmerDinner, the LO Bacon Grill, grilled, bunging fresh mushrooms & a tom under the grill at the same time. HM AF chips + maybe fried eggs + some baked beansEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens1

Good morning everyone,
Yes definitely better DS2 than me lol!
There's been a sprinkle of snow overnight which has frozen solid. Looking at the sky we may well get some more.
Unfortunately no lurking indoors for me as I have a physio appointment. It's very slippy underfoot so will be treading carefully. I'm hoping not to feel quite as battered afterwards as last week but suspect I may be deluding myself. There's nothing pressing needing doing when I get back and DS2 is cooking tonight - either veg curry or dal. HM soup for lunch.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I think I will take them out of the packaging and wrap them up as Brambling said. I always forgot that trick.
I am cooking for two tonight and my husband wants (vegan) hot dogs and fries. I think I will make some coleslaw with the carrots for me to go with it. I need to go out and buy a grater in a minute.
I just had a wholemeal toastie with marmite and baby spinach for breakfast.
I was thinking of getting us some cakes from a cafe as I need to walk past it to buy the grater. I just bought a second hand dinner set from a charity shop and feel like having tea and cake with the new stuff.:)2025 GOALS

Hello everyone.
Sunday is my cooking day and pretty much the only day I turn the oven on. I made a kind of traybake carrot, chickpea and coconut curry in the oven while also baking miso aubergines with tofu and greens. The aubergine was dinner on Sunday with rice and sesame seeds, and will be again tonight.
Dinner last night was marmite pasta which is so easy that i forget how delicious it is!
Breakfast today was (defrosted) frozen blueberries, greek yoghurt and walnuts.
Lunch was warm puy lentils with beetroot and horseradish, with cherry tomatoes and lettuce, and an apple
Tomorrow is sourdough delivery day! I gave a portion of the trayback curry to a baking neighbour and he will deliver me a loaf tomorrow. Very exciting!Grocery Challenge

Lovely bright day here but very cold. Glad I didn’t have to go anywhere until swimming this evening but sad I had to have the heating on - at least the washing finished off drying 🙃
Woke up and realised Mr Murray had been playing tennis since the early hours so tuned in for the last hour, the man is a machine!LO pasta for lunch and quick, easy beans with toast before swimming. Now in bed with a cuppa and a hwb, will read some of my book shortly.0 -
I hope you're not too sore Caronc
Luckily the BBC got it wrong and we had no snowalthough as the temperature dropped to minus 7 I was grad not to brave the route to work as I understand it was challenging today in places especially on the country routes. Like JKS I resented the heating having to go on as much as it did today
Work and food wise today was very much like yesterdayI had a portion of frittata for breakfast and lunch was leek and potato soup. Dinner the last of the Chinese pork and noodles
