Evening everyone, back to CFO tonight.
Hope baby continues to improve Brambling.
Drove home from weekend away visiting family today so lunch was a cheese and tomato sandwich car picnic at a services 🙃
Meal planned, shopped, unpacked, made soup and pottered this afternoon/evening. Dinner was tuna, broccoli and cherry tomato pesto pasta.0 -
Day off for me using up holiday entitlement and up until 4pm ish it was a lovely warm day.
i drove out to a art supply shop to get a birthday present, they sell nice sketch/ watercolour pad as seconds when they have misprints printing the school or art college name on the cover. The person who it's for buys hers there so is happy for seconds as it means she gets more 😁 I also enjoyed the wander and picked up a couple of things for me.
i had my annual blood test lunchtime and only had to queue for a half hour 🙂 I had planned to go into town but seeing as I couldn't remember what I was going in for gave it a miss as I would probably have spent money on none essential / not needed items. I'm sure I'll remember in the middle of the night 🙄
lunch was finishing off the B&B pudding I made yesterday. Dinner a portion of the chicken stew from yesterday with green veg, there is another for another portionLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Very wet, windy & awful this morning, good job you took advantage of yesterday's weather BramblingAh, dogs and rolling in muck Caron, takes me back to when we had a Labrador, she found "rolling" muck wherever we went, or so it seemed at the timeTried updating my Asda list but when I look even more things become unavailable, so I've left well alone, only wanted to add some forgotten eggs and remove a cucumber, but I can wait, although it seems there's panic egg buying in some shops with loads in others, at least one assumes egg hoarding is more limited than loo roll hoardingI fancied a tin of rice last night, but opened a tin of custard in error
, now racking brains thinking how to use it, I have frozen HM stewed blackberry apple in freezer so just maybe make a crumble later? Ideal weather for one + custard
Lunch, maybe open a tin of cheapo Essentials veg soup, bought to try it, very mixed reviews and realise it will not be a patch on HM but worth a go at the priceDinner, the LO Toad, never had it last night as never fancied it, hence the rice pud craving. I'll try again tonightEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good morning everyone,
Yes Hector just loves getting wet and mucky at every opportunity. Thankfully he enjoys the bath! He decided that last night was not for sleeping, not sure why his routine had been the same and he usually crashes. Hopefully a one off as DS2 was not amused!
Managed to get a Tesco slot for the 21st which will do me fine as I'm not relying on it for any main items. No way was I joining a queue at 6am! Turkey is already in the freezers and my trimmings order arrives on Friday so I'll be busy over the weekend making pigs in blankets and stuffing. There would be mutiny in the family if there was not lots of these.
HM soup for lunch.
Sis and nephew are coming for dinner tonight, my nephew is back at work this week after some holiday leave most of which was spent with various friends in Glasgow. I'm cooking frikadellar (Nigela Slater receipe), HM Ikea-style cream sauce, savoy cabbage, carrots and crushed then roasted baby spuds.

Absolutely awful weather all day here, when came downstairs at lunchtime it was actually getting darker and I thought I should probably start building an ark 🙄
Bit late, Farway but bananas and custard?
Scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. Soy and spring onion tuna steak with ginger sweet potato mash and sugar snap peas tonight.1 -
I was going to say you don't get the same issues with cats getting in the same state Caronc than I remembered having to de-gloss my previous fat cat when she rubbed against a newly painted door frame 😬 there was a lot of swearing by both of us
horrendous weather here as well JKS with a brief break lunchtime ☔️💨
They took the baby off the ventilator last night 🙂 and moved her to the HDU on just oxygen which was removed this morning. She has been transferred back to Southampton hospital this afternoon as they are the paediatric respiratory specialists and it seems this latest trip to PICU was because of a cold and not related to the virus she had last time. My sister is hovering between being relieved that she is off the ventilator and is quickly recovering and worried on what could be causing it. I got sent a lovely video of her laying on her daddy, a little droopy and probably a little high from the morphine she will need weaning off again
food wise has been a day of LOs lunch late and was a unhealthy portion of berry and rhubarb cobblerdinner stuffed aubergine, I tried the farm shop lamb mince and it was very low fat (I usually avoid lamb mince unless I can buy less than 8%) I'll buy it again. After a early for me dinner I went out to watch a live screening of Matthew Bournes The Nutcracker

Good morning everyone,
Good to hear the baby is off the ventilator.
After thinking my medical review went well, I was disconcerted to get a call yesterday from the surgery wanting to book me for a fasting blood glucose test as the Dr had requested one. I can only assume my blood sugars weren't as they should be. Booked in for next Wednesday and will take from there. Have decided I will worry about it as and when I need to.
Off for lunch today with friends, we're going back to the golf club place we visited in the summer, hope it's as good as the last time.
CFO tonight as DS2 is out, doubt I'll fancy much after lunch out.1 -

Same here yesterday & I also got woken last the night with more rain chucking it down, but it's drying out nowAbsolutely awful weather all day here, when came downstairs at lunchtime it was actually getting darker and I thought I should probably start building an ark 🙄
Bit late, Farway but bananas and custard?Good idea but I'd eaten the last banana that morning with breakfast, Asda delivery with more this morning, but in a way I did have B & C because as I was putting some of the Asda delivery [not the bananas] in the fridge I knocked the open tin of custard off the fridge shelf onto the floor, bu66er.I still have half a rescued tin left though, and I did make a yummy apple & blackberry crumble yesterday so all is wellThe Asda delivery was nearly all there, minus today's dinner of C & O flan / Quiché, needs a quick rethink on that planThe subs were a bit of serendipity, I ordered Asda frozen Yorkshires, because the Essentials had run out, but was sent the Essentials, which will be a nice small size for CFOAnd ordered Essentials Sausage rolls but was sent Asda, which is good because I'm freezing them for Christmas anywayMain thing is the frozen turkey arrived, along with the Asda own brand Arctic Roll, so all ready nowLunch, some sarnie, nice fresh sliced loaf but undecided on fillingDinner, was going to be Quiché + salad, but all change with non-delivery, will have to rethink. I did get an Essentials braising steak, and it does look nice, maybe that plus steamed fresh veg & mash?

Good news Brambling.
The thermometer says it was under 16 degrees in my house earlier, but as it was sunny it didn't feel cold when I went for a walk. I changed out of my clothes and put on my leggings, two thermal tops and my new slipper boots when I got home so I'm still feeling quite nice and warm. I got a text saying my blood tests came back as fine so that must mean my thyroid meds don't need any adjustment.
I had PB on toasted crumpets for breakfast and a vegan chicken stir fry for lunch. That was delicious and I have enough to make another lunch with it tomorrow.:) Lots of green tea today as well. Oh yes, I had a packet of crisps too.
I think I'm going to make a big salad and have it with houmous and pittas tonight. I have got a chocolate fudge cupcake too.0 -
Ugh, bit of a day, blinking people (my job would be so much easier without them sometimes) 🙄
Wasn’t sure when/where I would have lunch today so took a tuna and sweetcorn sandwich and some cherry tomatoes in a lunchbox. Ended up eating it at my desk in between numerous chats regarding the above…
Luckily had planned easy tea so lamb, chickpea and spinach curry from the freezer with a flatbread, and a cheeky glass of wine (medicinal 😉)
Glad baby is doing better Brambling 😊0
