Caronc hopefully the doctor saw you hadn't had a fasting blood for awhile and decided you were drew (I wouldn't mention the age thing 😁)

Heavy rain again today 😐 I went out for a couple of hours at 7pm and paddled back to my car, there were was a lot of water on the roads and I was only a mile from home but had to drive in the middle of the road in a couple of places.  The water was bubbling up through the drain when I drove into the Close so I'm expecting that will be flooded tomorrow.  Annoyingly someone was parked in front of the house when I got home so I had to park around the back and walk sround  :/  I spent the evening worrying I had dropped my phone as my bag was opened and I had grabbed it to run indoors, I was convinced I had put it in my handbag and even searched around the car in the rain with my torch, it was on the charger when I got home 🙄

lunch was LO lamb stuff aubergine, definitely one to make again especially if I can get such a large aubergine again so cheap it was on offer in Lidl although as a 'throw together' recipe it wouldn't taste the same next time

I was fancying fish and chips for dinner but between the rain and worrying about my phone I had fish fingers and made chips from LO new potatoes when I got home

After thinking my medical review went well, I was disconcerted to get a call yesterday from the surgery wanting to book me for a fasting blood glucose test as the Dr had requested one. I can only assume my blood sugars weren't as they should be.  Booked in for next Wednesday and will take from there. Have decided I will worry about it as and when I need to.
I had this a last blood test checkup, something to do with kidney functions, hence the fasting. Mine came out clear once rechecked. I wonder if there has been some memo going round to double-check if borderline? I've never had to go back before either

Dry & windy this morning, but it was very heavy rain last night again

Update on my Asda Essentials trials, the veg soup was OK, I know some reviews are bad but TBH I found it palatable and OK for the 24p price, I've reordered for next delivery
The braising steak, cooked it yesterday, low & slow in the gas oven, it was one of the nicest tender, fall apart braised steaks for a long while. Mine was not fatty at all, I did trim one small bit off but left the connective tissue, and it all had melted by the time it was cooked. Definitely buying that again, a few bad reviews about tough & chewy but as someone pointed out, learn to cook it properly, it looked so nice that if you never knew I bet some thought they could fry or grill it

Budget day, 1980 repeats by the sound of forecasts, get my pension rise and take it back in Council tax, I no longer smoke, but fags have to be a target I would've thought, dress it up in healthy message

    Food today
Some sort of salad sarnie for lunch
Dinner, I have LO of the braised yummy steak but think I'll roast the small pork leg, go for a full roast dinner again now I have fresh parsnips & carrots back in stock. The freshly delivered carrots are a bit suspect, I can see where carrot fly has attacked, and I would have picked another pack, but I'm not in that position so will just have to live with it

  • I had cereal and oat milk for breakfast. I have to go to the hospital for a scan today. I've never been there before, but I looked and it is about a half hour walk. It is unfortunately raining again so I hope it stops before I have to leave.

    Good afternoon everyone,
Yes I'm hoping it's either just a blip or routine, time will tell!
Lovely lunch out, food was very good but the service was outstanding without been intrusive or stuffy.  :)  They weren't busy so were happy for us to sit and natter until 4pmish. I had an open sandwich with a generous topping of whipped avocado , smoked salmon and prawns. It came with a small portion each of coleslaw and chips. I enjoyed every mouthful.
Late on parade today as DS1 dropped Hector at the vets first thing. Like BB we were told it would be late afternoon before he would be ready for collection. Our plan was to do some deep cleaning while he was away. Cue phone call at 11.30 saying he was done and could he be collected between 12.30 and 13.00! Needless to say the cleaning was as deep as planned but the place is certainly cleaner and tidier.(Or at least the visible bits are.  ;) ) A much needed cuppa is now being enjoyed.  :)
Fry up or rather grill up for dinner tonight - sausages, poached eggs, beans, potato waffles, mushrooms and tomatoes. Salad wrap for lunch.
  • Another miserable day weather-wise and challenging work-wise. Oh well, Friday tomorrow 🙃

Lunch was a portion of the celery and Stilton soup I made earlier in the week with a chunk of sourdough. Thai red pork and sugar snap curry with noodles tonight.

Good to know about the braising steak Farway, I don't shop very often from Asda now but I may go back to them

Caronc was Hector snipped ✂️ or is he too young? I'm thinking manic dog with cone of shame 😁

JKS I hope work is better tomorrow, I volunteered for a really boring all day job today it was mind numbing but not difficult and I earned brownie points for it.  Sometimes it's nice not to have to think too much 😁 not a usual task for us but checking stuff after a IT mess up. And it kept me away from a team member who thinks she's the boss 🙄

Great news is the baby is back home with instructions on how to wean her from the drugs at home.  She saw the specialist at 6pm last night and was discharged then, she needs tests and further monitoring. It may have been better if it had been this morning as they had a horrendous journey home with the rain and flood water and weren't back until after 11pm

The weather here today was so different from yesterday it's been grey but mild and dry all day 🙂 I had to pick up something in town lunchtime and walked from the car park with no coat. Whilst there I quickly popped into M&S for F&V (forgot milk 🙄) otherwise I'll eat from stores this week.

I was gifted a loaf of bread on my sparks card so lunch was a cheese and cucumber sandwich.  Dinner pan fried mackerel fillets with new potatoes and vegetables

  • Google gave me the wrong instructions to the hospital yesterday and it was a 50 minute walk there and 50 minutes back! I was so chilled and tired when I got in that we ordered a takeaway. We watched a couple of episodes of the TV show we are on and I had a bath and then I was so tired I had to go to bed by 11. I did almost 17,000 steps yesterday!

I am going to make garlic mushrooms and spinach on wholemeal toast for breakfast. We are going to take my dog for a walk on the beach later as it is sunny and not raining for once.

I'm going to make myself a hot cup of tea in a minute.:)

    Good morning everyone,
Excellent news that the baby is back home.  :)
Yep the full snip and cone of shame. He's at the young end for getting it done but as long as everything has matured enough an ideal age as it's done before the adult hormones fully surge. He wasn't a happy boy yesterday but back to his perky self this morning. The next 10 days are going to be challenge, I think! He's not impressed with cone!

Tesco are due soon, just one acceptable sub then the out of school club accounts are getting examined this afternoon. The butcher's order is also being delivered this afternoon so this weekend will be a pigs in blankets and stuffing production line.
BLT for lunch and usual Friday freezer rake for dinner.

    He's looking very sorrowful, Caron

    Bright but colder this morning
My Sparks card seems to have unlinked itself from me, so no free loaf for me Brambling, I'll have to try & get it sorted because some offers are good, and I used them
Celery & Stilton soup, sounds ideal JKS, I think I may give it a go for Christmas

    Back to today, meals,
Lunch, could be cheese & salad again
Dinner, nuke LO braised steak + HM AF chips

Boiler service just completed, he found one sticking radiator valve as well, but all sorted for another year. All I have to do is get the shelves & clothes back into the airing cupboard where the boiler lives :|

  • Oh no. He looks so sad with the cone on. Lol.

Mushrooms were off this morning even though the date was the 20th! So annoyed as this happened last time I bought mushrooms and they had to be binned too.

I had the last of the veg chicken and stir fry veggies for breakfast which was a bit weird. I had salad and avocado pitta breads for lunch. We walked to the beach and back and got some jam doughnuts and I had one with tea.

I'm not at all hungry but might be later.
