    Good morning everyone,
Family here for dinner tonight, I'm making a massive toad-in-the-hole a huge favourite of the three "boys" so although I'm making a larger one than I might need on paper for 6 I'll be surprised if there is much by way of leftovers. With roast baby spuds, carrots, savoy cabbage and HM onion gravy I'm not expecting anyone to go home hungry! LO curry for lunch.
  • Brrr, it’s turned cold here. Lovely sunny day but definitely dropped a few degrees. Have given in and set the heating to come on for a short while morning and evening - it’s an old, cold house and there was condensation on the upstairs windows this morning! I am fortunate enough to be able to afford it but will still be careful to reduce consumption.

Home day today so scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch, after a walk in the sun, between Teams meetings. Made roast vegetable gnocchi tonight, topped with mozzarella and popped under the grill, LOs for tomorrow 😊

Greenhouse is up 😁 just the one guy who arrived just before 9 and worked without stopping until just after 1pm and then spent time going over various bits, It is only a 6 x 4 one so not huge, just right for CFO and my garden size.

work started with a unexpected Teams call as soon as I logged on and went down hill from there, after my second call I told my manager I was going to sit in the sunshine with a gin and enjoy the view of the man putting the greenhouse up  ;)  at least being manic means the day goes quick

i went out tonight to see Romesh Ranganathan and a couple of other comedians, this is the second year he has used the small theatre in town to try out material so it's a good show for a good price even if he does use the local 'rivalry' between our two towns 😁

lunch was red chicory (tastes better for being only 20p YS) with blue cheese and pear salad. Dinner was a vegetable and peanut butter stew from the freezer with rice

  • I just had a toasted bagel and some water. I had to get up early as I have the Amazon delivery arriving.

Breezy and sunny, just like Autumn. The Asda delivery arrived spot on at nine, subs were OK, bourbons instead of fig rolls and choc chip cookies for choc wafer, best mince for diced steak I think I'll survive and work round it, my ready mix pack of bolognaise sauce also turned up, so no prizes for guessing a CFO meal soon arriving here :)

Today's meals are easy ones, a bit to use up & a bit of new delivery
Lunch is use up, grilled cheese on old bread toast, maybe with HM apple chutney from DD, that I found lurking at the back of the fridge
Dinner, Asda Essentials C & O flan, with HM AF chips + salad

    Good morning everyone,
Cold and showery here this morning.
Toad-in-the-hole was massive - 2lb of sausages and batter made from 1lb of flour, 7 medium eggs and 1 pint of milk. There's not a scrap left so it's fair to say it was well received!  :)
Discovered last night I have caterpillars in the conservatory and this morning my parsley was well and truly munched  :'(  . I'll get the plants cleared today and pick the last of the indoor tomatoes so they can go too. I had spotted a caterpillar on the floor on Monday but thought it had come in from the garden on shoes or Hector.
Salad wrap for lunch and pasta for dinner with a tomato, chorizo and pesto sauce.
  • Just a day here, no dramas, nothing exciting going on 😅

Out to a meeting this morning so very late lunch of quiche and baked beans when I got back (I might have had a pastry at the meeting 😉). Easy reheat of the LO roasted veg gnocchi after swimming this evening.

    We’re over the hump!

A time consuming piece of work was finally sorted today I'm still not sure how I drew the short straw and got landed with it, nor am I sure that I want to be called the expert on the system as that implies I'll get stuck with any further issues 🙄

Lunch was hummus and carrot wrap with spinach salad. Dinner burger in a ciabatta roll with some wedges, coleslaw and salad

Driving home from meeting friends in the dark I nearly added a cyclist as a bonnet ornament  :# I do love cyclists wearing black with no lights specially when stopped in the middle of the road 🙄

Very wet start to the day, just rain & gloom outside at the moment

Narrow squeak with the cyclist by sounds of it Brambling, I don't think they realise just how invisible they are at times, mind you it cuts both ways, when I used to cycle to work I was lit up like a Christmas tree, flashing lights, high viz jacket, reflectors, the lot, but still had cars pull out and hit me. Just can't win sometimes

Not a salad day today with this weather, going for the spag bol I think, I've not got enough fresh mince for a full pot so will try out adding some of the Smart price frozen stuff I found in freezer
Lunch, use up last of the corned beef in a sarnie

  • I don't know how anyone cycles as it looks so dangerous to me, especially when I lived in London with the way people drive there! A couple of months ago in my new house I heard an almighty row going on as a car clipped a couple riding on a motorbike outside.

I have had a toasted bagel with vegan cream cheese today. I'm feeling chilly even though my thermometer says it is 18 degrees. I'm checking that thing all the time now as I'm not putting the heating on unless it is seriously cold.
