A sunny start for the Bank Holiday, not that I'm doing anything different, just nice for the workers who'll have a break this weekend and enjoying it while it lasts

JKS, had to laugh at the new shed comment, are you a tidy shed person or, like me, bung it in and find it when I need it?

The Asda chicken in a bag turned out well of course, while I may not approve of methods of production & general stuff used in the prep of the chick in a nag, they do taste nice. In the end I just had some in a sarnie, with constant picking at it during the evening

Meals today, chicken sarnie lunchtime, with chicken salad for dinner, cluck cluck !!!

    Good morning everyone,
Sunny and pleasantly warm here this morning, we had my sister's pooch overnight so it's been on-stop chaos as Hector just adores Ari.  :)
First tray of home grown tomatoes roasted last night, will skin and blend them later. The plants have gone from producing a few ripe fruits to overdrive so I'm hoping this is the first of many batches.
Sticky spicy chicken wings for dinner (Ainsley Harriott recipe). Last night I ended up roasting a big tray of cauli, peppers, sweet potatoes and baby spuds to use up various lurking bits. Lots LO so will have some in a wrap for lunch.

Well, obviously at the moment, it’s lovely and tidy but won’t be long until I’m just chucking stuff in and then swearing when I can’t find anything 😂

Farway I like the convenience of a chicken in a bag and they are usually nice and moist but I do miss the crispy skin and the smell of chicken cooking when I buy them. I do have a YS one in the freezer at the moment but it's large so not for CFO

Caronc so does Ari adore Hector just as much or just tolerate him 🙂

A quiet day for me other than a appointment the other side of town lunchtime, I hadn't realised there was a road closure until I got caught in traffic driving through town, I managed to finally turn right and took the scenic route and got slightly confused with a new road layout 🙄 it's just as well I gave myself plenty of time  :)

lunch was a repeat of yesterday, I forgot how much I enjoy the mix of pear, blue cheese, walnut and red chicory, the last few times I have roasted or griddled the chicory when I've brought it.  I may dislike most fruit and meat combinations but I do like it with cheese although I'm quite specific, pear and blue cheese, Brie and grape, cheddar and apple or nectarine and feta  :)

Dinner was a pork and apple burger with portobello mushrooms rather than a bun, corn on the cob, wilted spinach. I made a garlic and parsley butter which went in the mushrooms when cooking and on the corn. I put it all in the air fryer the mushrooms and burger cooked really well the corn was trying something new as I usually boil it, it probably needed a little less time

    Good morning everyone,
A bit more than toleration Brambling but runs out of patience, Hector is relentless at times at wanting to play.
Overcast but warm and dry here.
Some kitchen & gardening pottering on the cards today. The season is definitely on the change. Lots more tomatoes ripe so might have enough to roast another batch.
DS2 is off out tonight so it will just be me & Hector. I suspect bed time might be a challenge but I don't fancy sitting up until DS2 returns. Dinner is tbc. LOs for lunch.

Sunny and quite pleasant, not too hot, just right

At last, I got round to stewing some of my apple surplus, cooling now and then portioned & into freezer. I still have a carrier bag full to go, and later in the year the other apples will ripen, but given the way food prices are going it's like growing money sometimes. DD is stewing the Victoria plum harvest at the moment, maybe plum jam for Christmas?

Lunch, maybe fried egg sarnie and some stewed apples
Diner, use up time to pick over the chicken carcass for whatever there is, with HM AF chips, LO beans and maybe a touch of salad
Here's one of my toms, Ferline, I wasn't expecting this big, looks nice, but it's a tad bland, I had one last night, would be nice sliced in a sarnie I guess

We had two large plum trees in the garden when growing up which seem to provide most of the jam for the year and every visitor was sent home with at least one pot.  We would picked loads of blackberries and there were red, white and black currants in the garden also for jam but us kids would eat everything but the plum first and get left with six months of just plum jam, we loved visiting other people houses if they had shop brought strawberry jam  :)

lazy day for me, I'm off now for two weeks so stuff can get done then, I already have several  appointments for me and the cat.  I did catch up on Shetland this afternoon   :#

lunch was cheese and tomatoes on toast.  Dinner a new for me dish which I tweaked for the pressure cooker it was called Moroccan chicken and rice, basically a biryani! I added a tin of chickpeas.  Next  time I'll give it a little less time just a couple of minutes.  Unfortunately when halving the recipe I didn't halve the rice (tipped in and stirred before the brain processed) so rather than a couple of portions it made four,  three with chicken and one without, currently all in the fridge whilst I consider freezing two or three portions- just as well it's tasty 😋 I cooked some purple sprouting to go with it

I'm just catching on Ridley the new ITV crime, I think I may have missed something 🙄 so may have flick back when I'm more awake.  It's good so far 🙂

Yesterday's stewed apples turned out well, sampled last night with some tinned custard, simple but tasty.

Nothing exciting today, changing bedding is about the peak of my day today

Food, bacon sarnie for lunch, I'm going to try nuking it, a first for me, I've got a gadget with a lid, so should avoid greasy microwave at least, I hope it works because I normally use the gas grill, but I am getting concerned with the spitting fat and flames, at times it has been like gas flaring off at a well :o
Dinner, probably lazy CBA RM MFO nuked macaroni cheese

    Good morning everyone,
I've added Ridley to my watch list. We're currently watching "Collateral" on Netflix.
Corker of a tomato Farway, shame it was bland tasting.
Hazy sunshine here today but quite warm, I'm hoping it stays dry as I've a couple of loads of laundry done.
As CFO last night I made something I've not had for yonks, raw beef ham (sliced top rump) flash fried and piled on toasted ciabatta with mushrooms and onions. Made far too much so LOs added to the collection! Lunch today will be LO chicken wings from Saturday with salad. Tonight I'm trying out the JO one pan Mushroom Carbonara.
  • Hi everyone, hope you’ve had a good bank holiday. I’m back from a weekend of family visiting.

I quite enjoyed Ridley and I’m sure I liked Collateral.

Lunch was a “what I could find” sandwich - bread from the freezer, manchego and cucumber (literally all there was to put in a sarnie. Went shopping this afternoon so dinner was lamb leg steak, chickpea and pomegranate couscous and salad. LO couscous for lunches of course!

Back to the grindstone tomorrow, at least it’s a short week 🙃
