It's turned chilly overnight, Caron's weather arived here at last, dry though so not a problem

At least I hope it's not a problem, was waiting for my shower to heat up this monrning but it never did, checking I found the boiler had tripped with red light glowing. reset that and all well, trouble is what made it trip?
Luckily the annual service is booked for early Nov so hopefully a good sort out then should keep me going

Off out later to volunteer spot, then top up with diesel now the panic is over, collect my prescription, into Costcutter for milk & a mooch YS hunting then depending on time & YS possibly OAP portion of fish & chips for lunch

Dinner depends on what happens for lunch & YS hunting

    Good morning everyone,
Hope your boiler is okay Farway.
Damp and grey here this morning but supposed to brighten later.
Tesco are due soon then this afternoon I'm off to meet friends for a catch up. We're not going out, one of the girls is hosting but a gin or two might feature and we'll get a takeaway later.

Yippee it's Friday and I'm only working two days next week 😁🍾 we're still being dogged by system issues so it's been a long week so I didn't say no when the boss said go if you want at 4.30pm 🙂 I give them enough of my time

The water board finally repaired a water leak in the middle of the road this morning, it was reported two weeks ago by a neighbour and they came out on a Sunday to stick a cone with a note on the verge to say they were aware, god knows how much water was wasted in the two weeks as it was bubbling up through the cover, it only took a couple of hours to fix.

lunch was celery soup from the freezer. Dinner a couple of grilled goat (kid) chops, bubble and squeak using LO mash and cabbage and runner beans. The goat was lovely and tender, there another two left in the freezer to look forward to 🙂 Just a couple of burgers and the unexpected shanks to use up, now the weather is getting colder I will cook the shanks soon.  I'll definitely buy the goat again as none of it has disappointed, maybe not the starter box next time but it won't be this year so I've time to think.

  • Snap, Brambling - although you win because I am working 3 days next week. My week actually got better as it went on but still looking forward to a couple of days off.

In my home office today so got out for a swim. Lunch when I got back was avocado and poached eggs on toast.

Made pork stroganoff tonight with some previously frozen LO roast pork, it nearly got rid of the end of a tub of creme fraiche too…served with noodles and green beans and a 🍷, and was eaten while catching up with All Creatures…such lovely telly 😊

Still cold outside, my boiler has behaved itself which is good because the heating clicked on last night, first time this Autumn, and heating came on again this morning

I forgot the milk yesterday, not a problem as I have enough UHT to replace on my cereal & blue top for my tea, just means I'll have to pop out early next week that's all

Also failed to buy fish & chips, just never fancied it when the time came, instead I had a frozen pizza sub for luinch and then last of the Asda frozen cheese & veg pies plus nuked LO mash & open a tin of beans

I have got a delivery slot for Christmas on 23r Dec, from Asda :) .
I spotted a notice on the web site and only available to those who have annual pre paid delivery, and that's me :) . I had to use my normal list to order but will correct and amend nearer the time, the money only goes out on the morning of delivery anyway so no problems there

Not that I need "stuff" for Christmas with hopefully going over DD's this year,  but I do want a delivery of bog standard items as per my normal shop, milk, loo rolls and the like, I may  even chuck some fresh sprouts in for a bit of festive flair
And perhaps an emergency Christmas pud because DD said she failed to find one last year, presumably witht the crazy covid buying that was going on with last minute cancellation of Christmas

    Food today
    Lunch, cheese toastie
Dinner, defrosting one of the LO savoury mince portions, quick nuke & maybe with some HM chips?

    Good afternoon everyone,
I have the opposite with milk, I made a mistake on my order and now have rather a lot as in 24 pints of the stuff-eek!! Manage to offload give four pints to my sister but there's going to be a lot of milk based cookery going on over the coming week.
Cold. wet and miserable here today but I'm not planning to go out. I had a lovely time with my friends and although it was neither a late or boozy night I'm feeling quite tired today. The world was put rights for another wee while and we had a delicious Indian tapas-style take way for dinner.
Apart from looking up milk recipes lol, I'm not sure what I'll do today. Lunch is tbc and tonight it's an easy option of burgers, HM wedges and salad.
ETA - lunch was a cheese and beetroot sandwich using some of my home pickled beetroot. It was gorgeous.  :)
  • Ooh, not had a cheese and beetroot sarnie for ages, caronc.

Fairly relaxed day today - did a menu plan, shopping list and some ironing while I watched James Martin this morning. Shopping and pottering this afternoon before cooking dinner in time to eat with Strictly 💃

Lunch was toasted bagel with mashed avocado and crispy Serrano ham. Made lemon and coriander steak with spinach, beans and feta tonight 😋

Shame you eaten all the cauliflower Caronc you could have made cauliflower cheese🙂 any room in the freezer?

I saw the message on the Asda site Farway I will need to wait until the 28th if I want to book a slot.

Trip to the farm shop this morning to get a few bits I don't want to get with my Asda shop on Monday, including some of their proper bacon, sausages and pork and apple burger as well as a turkey drum stick for soup and some veg which I've knocked off my delivery.  The car was happy to do more than a potter around town 😁. This afternoon my sister and I went to town to finally pickup a birthday for another sister, a small piece of YS beef fell into my hand so that's dinner for tomorrow, it's only 500g so ideal for CFO

lunch was a sausage roll using some of the FS pork and leek sausages.  Dinner was LO Nasi Goreng with LO runner beans to clear a spot in the fridge

Sunny out, but looks cold to me, and the heating came on again so I guess it is
Still tinkering with the new computer, I've tried everything with the spiel chequer but still failss to highlight the errors, and now I realise I do not know some paswords, more frustrating work, solveable but tediuos :s

That's a lot of milk Caron, could be yoghurt, or loads of rice puds? I've never found milk freezes well but some seem to be fine with it

Just added a few bits to my upcoming Asda order, not the Christmas one, a standard lamp bulb blew yesteray so may as well get Asda to bring one along but then found that Veg suet went OOS, I only use it for dumplings but fancy a bacon & onion roly poly soon.
Anyone know a suitable veg alternative? I don't like the beef suet or lard flavours. When I check on line it says shorteneing being US stuff, any one know of a brand, like Trex etc?

I have a loaf in the Panny and now to keep on trend it's first outing will be a cheese & beetort sarnie :D , looking forward to that

The C & B sarnie could be lunch if loaf is ready in time, otherwise it's grilled cheese on toast
    Dinner, TBA, no idea yet

    Good afternoon everyone,
No I've never found semi skimmed freezes that well. I'm going to make a vat of white sauce and portion it for the freezer, a rice pud and a tbc "cream of" soup and that should cover most of the surplus. <fingers crossed>
For a roly poly or dumpling I think Trex would be fine or even hard margarine like Stork.
We had some dreadful weather yesterday and overnight but thankfully it seems to eased a bit today. Lots of leaves & debris in my back garden to clear up, I think all the leaves and twigs from my neighbour's apple tree have landed in my garden!
Cheese beetroot sarnie again today for lunch. Balmoral chicken (chicken thighs stuffed with haggis), peppercorn sauce, asparagus, broccoli, flat mushroom and baby potatoes for dinner tonight. I'll get it prepped this afternoon so it won't take long to cook this evening.
