Good afternoon everyone,
Still scorching here, apparently yesterday was the second hottest day on record for this area! Looks as though it's to be hot again tomorrow but bit cooler after that before rain comes in mid-week.
Second flush of cucumbers are coming along nicely, I picked one earlier and there's good few that will be ready soon but thankfully not all at once!
Home alone today as DS2 has gone to help his Dad. I'm pooch sitting for my sister this afternoon so I'm sure I'll be kept amused by his antics.
Salad bits for lunch and naan pizza for dinner.0 -
Oooh just discovered "The Lost Boys" is on i-player. I'll be watching that for sure when I'm CFO next week.0

Weather all changed at 0230 this morning with a thunderstorm that woke me up, kept on for a while so I never really went back to sleeping & now worn out, the rain has stopped anyway, just dull with glimmer of sun and another lot of storms due later tomorrow, pity those who started their hols this weekend and queued on the A303 at Stonehenge in a thunderstorm, impressive thoughNothing planned today, may just mooch in garden with the camera, maybe some raindrops on roses sort of shots carefully composed imagesFinally complected my on line shopping by switching to Iceland, all in stock allegedly with some items cheaper but a limited range though, no bread flour for instance.Due Monday morning. Actually I gain because I have a bonus card so every twenty quid I put on they give me a quid, helps pay for the carrier bags I supposeLunch was another cheese toastieDinner, another and last of LO ham saladEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Living_proof said:I gave my huge collection of bubble wrap and Mae Wests to local charity shop and they were very grateful.
The thunder arrived here at 5am Farway and rumbled around here for quite a while i had just dropped off again when it tipped down at 7am overflowing the guttering around my neighbours porch which is under my window. So like you I have been a little bleary eyed today
i went into town with my sister and had a bacon and egg sandwich for lunch, proper bacon 😁 and did a little browsing most people were still wearing masks. I dithered over a pair of half price jeans in N*xt as unusually they were the right length but they were just a bit long in the body and I decided that would probably annoy 🤔 I did pick up half price undies in M&S before we got too hot and walked back.
A combination of dehydration and not enough sleep left me a little headachy when I got home, so large glass of water, a painkiller and a 15 min nap helped 🙂
I didn't fancy cooking but because I had been organised and had taken stuff out of the freezer I needed to cook 😐 I batched cooked a fish pie and a goat mince ragu which will taste better tomorrowI wasn't that hungry so I tasted a little bit of the pie but didn't need anything else. I fear I lost the plot whilst cooking as I totally forgot to add any salt to fish pie including the potatoes 🙄 luckily the fish part was salty enough probably due to the smoked haddock and I had added white pepper and mustard to the white sauce. I also spent 10 minutes looking for the milk after cooking and finally found it in the cupboard I must have put it in there when I got out the dish for the pie 😬

More rain this morning, and still coming down, I thought it was going to be sunnier, maybe later? Warm enough thoughNothing planned for the day, if not soggy i could go and pick the rest of the gooseberries, i spotted a blackbird gobbling down my red currants, I don't mind that because I rarely eat them, just a few on cereal etc, so the birds may as well enjoy themIf I CBA and had puff enough I'd remove the bushes & plant something else, maybe something to "look into" over the next month or soMeals are going to be pot luck, not feeling like doing much right now but lunch will be a cheese & salady sarnie againDinner, more salad with last of the HM coleslawEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good evening everyone,
Yesterday was very hot and busy day. Just before my sister dropped her pooch off, DS1&2 and DIL-to-be appeared having filled the skip and in desperate need of drinks, food & showers They'd been invited their aunt's (ex-OH's sister) late afternoon for a drink and food. They had nipped to Lidl to buy Greek pies which needed baked and DS2 had decided to make focaccia to take along. It was bedlam for a bit then pooch arrived and things settled down. DS1 was in the shower, DIL-to-be sunbathing and DS2 went to get something from his car not realising pooch had followed him who promptly legged it, clearly heading for the beach with DS2 then DIL-to-be in hot pursuit. Now DS2 is many things but built for speed isn't one of them and the crocs didn't help. There are several busy roads between my house and the beach so we were all up to high doh. DS1 jumped out the shower and jumped in his car to head to my sister's as we reckoned that was probably where he was headed. Yep there he was sitting on the step looking very pleased with himself.......
The weather was gorgeous today, a few degrees cooler and still pretty warm but it felt much more tolerable. DS2 has headed off on site visits for a few days so I'm CFO. Lunch was salad bits and tonight it's lamb steak with Ayrshire tatties and various veg.

LOL re the dog Caronc although I'm sure not funny at the time 😁 and 'I've lost your dog' was not a conversation you would have wanted to have with your sister 😬)
Its been a wet and thundery day here so his lordship and I have done very little all day 📚 🫖 🙂
lunch was half a avocado on toast with the last of the kiln roast M&S salmon. Dinner was a portion of the ragu I made yesterday with pasta and green beans

Forgot to post last night. What an “adventure” with the dog caronc!
A domestic day yesterday as everywhere was looking a little grubby…also went for a swim.
Much more pleasant temperatures the last few days.
Lunch was smoked salmon and beetroot salad with a horseradish dressing. For dinner I made a JO recipe of pasta with braised leeks and Parma ham.0 -
A good outcome with the dog Caron and happy it ended wellI was under the same thunder storms as Brambling and London yesterday, it bucketed down so never even poked my nose out in the garden, sun's out now and I'm waiting for the Iceland delivery sometime this morning. Already informed by e -mail zero Greek yoghurt, minor irritant but not life threatening, I only blob it onto the sliced breakfast banana anywayLooking out this morning I think my runners will be finally consumed by snails, the devils are all over them in broad daylight, and of course I dare not get out there 'cos Iceland will arrive mid purgeLunch, cheese toasty again, but if my delivery arrives in time it may become a BLT buttyDinner, not quite sure, I have Harry Ramsden's frozen cod & chips arriving with my delivery, plus pot of HR chippy curry sauce, could be them, have to see how I feelEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good evening everyone.
Thanks for the good wishes re poochy. No definitely not a conversation I would want to have with my sis Brambling........
Much cooler here today, though a few weeks ago it would have felt quite warm! Rather grey too though dry apart from a spot of drizzle first thing. I made the most of the lower temp and gave the greenhouse plants a much needed tidy, picking six toms and another cue in the process. No sign of much else being nearly ripe so unless I get a late crop I don't think I'll get many tomatoes this year. My own fault in being late getting them potted on.
Use up of salad bits for lunch and bowl of lovely ripe melon. I bought it a few weeks ago and it was a hard as rock but it's lovely now though I think I'll need to eat it quite quickly before it goes over. Thankfully it's just a small one so it won't be a chore.
The tiny gammon piece is currently baking bathed in pineapple juice with a couple of pineapple rings popped in the foil. Since I have the oven on it's roasted sweet potato, carrots chunks and flat mushrooms to go with it. I hope to at least get dinner tonight out of it and lunch tomorrow unless it shrinks a lot during cooking.
I'm just off to rake the freezer for a couple of vac packs of herring fillets which I know are in there. If they're okay, they've been lurking for a while, I'll make some soused herring with them to have for lunches later in the week to enjoy while DS2 is away as he's not keen on them.0
