    Good morning everyone,
Another scorcher here. I have "the girls" coming round for afternoon tea in the garden. They are picking up the food from a local company and I've washed my good china and cake stand. I suspect dinner will not be needed tonight.  :)
  • Hope you enjoyed your afternoon tea, caronc. Absolutely scorching here today so have mostly pottered around.

Went for a swim and then home for lunch of egg mayo and tomato sandwich, very retro but very nice.

Cleaned the bbq and garden furniture this afternoon, and there was obviously some pegging out 😀

Steak and mushrooms on the bbq tonight, with new potatoes, coleslaw and salad.

Hope all's well with dog Wednesday, and if your boss agrees on WFH terms Brambling it sounds like a good deal  all round including pop into W8rose for YS mooch on work days :)

I miss the big W8itrose next to the office, some great YS at lunchtimes 🙂

I hope you had a great afternoon tea and gossip catchup  Caronc 🙂

I finally got a text from my dentist offering a check up my first since Jan 2020, I never thought I would get excited over the dentist 😬 they now have a electronic booking service so I've booked the first available which is the 4th August and as it is 3.50pm will leave work early for it, they owe me enough time 🙄

my hair appointment wasn't until 3pm so I popped to Lidl quickly lunchtime just for some fruit, veg and salad bits it wasn't too busy and for once not much of a queue, helped by an assistant opened a till just for me and shutting it behind me 😁

After my appointment I went into M&S food hall for a quick nose and picked up some trout fillets, lightly dusted plaice fillets and cooked salmon all less than half price YS as well as the wraps which they didn't have in Lidl also half price 😁all the fish has been vacuumed packed and is in the freezer, not necessarily needed but too good to pass up on

Too hot to be very hungry today.  Lunch was a slice of crustless quiche.  Dinner a rump steak and salad with HM coleslaw and potato salad using LO potatoes from yesterday

Another sunny & hot morning with same all day. I may quickly lop off a few more Judas tree branches before it gets really hot, then settle down to doing nothing except reading magazines on my tablet, until I find myself dozing off which I always do these day

Bit of excitement yesterday evening, spotted a hawk moth in the verge undergrowth  and managed to get the telephoto lens out in time. Even impressed my granddaughter omn Whatsapp with that one

Today's food, another quick food day
Lunch thinking of use up bread for a cheese toastie
Dinner, has to be salad again. The Asda tinned spuds were OK with half a tin left for tonight, plus frozen C & O pasty & HM coleslaw and salad bits.

    Here's the Hawk Moth

    Good morning everyone,
    Excellent photo Farway  :)
Afternoon tea and catch up were both fab though it absolutely scorching and we ended up huddled in the shade from the log store rather than being civilised round the table. We sorted the world out at least twice and it was just lovely to see them.
Less good was the local railway station building catching fire, thankfully no one was injured but a rather lovely building has been hideously damaged. Trains cancelled as firefighters tackle Troon station blaze - BBC News It's just a few minutes walk from my house but a favourable breeze pushed the smoke towards the shore and missed my street.
DS2 had a good day in Glasgow with DS1 & my DIL-to-be. Today he's headed to give a mate a hand to fill a skip with garden spoil. It's the last day of his holidays so I'm cooking us steaks for dinner tonight.

  • Even warmer than yesterday here today…

Another swim, bit of pegging out and lots of reading and lots of nothing 😂

Lunch was pitta, houmous, cucumber and olives with feta. BBQ back in service tonight - sausage, pepper and new potato kebabs with salad and coleslaw.

Not looking forward to a hot day in the office tomorrow 🤔

There are some beautiful moths I saw my first hummingbird moth last year at Abbotsbury gardens.

looking at the pictures I think you were lucky the smoke was blown in the other direction Caronc

It was too hot to sleep last night so today I've been mole like with the curtains closed, the temperature was 31 at 4.00pm far too hot for me although my South African neighbours were out sitting in the front garden which was really hot this afternoon 🥵

The kitchen floor, walls, cupboards and inside the fridge got a unplanned wash today after I lost the grip of a large bottle of summer fruit juice I head opening (1.3ltrs brought because it was on offer 😐) I tried to grab it and flipped it instead, about a litre spilt and the only thing it seems to miss was the ceiling I had to change trousers and T shirt and shower as I was sticky 🙄

I was too hot for lunch so had a punnet of cherries and then a pack of s&v crisps later. Dinner was stealing a idea from JKS a Asian noodle salad with peanut sauce and pan fried chicken.  There is probably a couple more portions of the salad left so I'll do a different protein with it.  Very tasty I forgot now much I like it I was goodish and left out the peanuts 🙂

sitting now with a long cold drink watching Baptiste and recording Professor T with Ben Miller I have watched the original, I can't remember if it was Dutch of  Belgium but thought I would give this a try

Snap, Much too hot for sleeping and another baking hot day ahead.
Brambling there but for grace of God go most of us with drinks carton / bottles.I buy Asda squash but recent reviews inform me the plastic container is now tissue thin and easily bent, bit like the new style thinner milk cartons which bend as you pour them.

I've watered the pots out the front already trying to beat the heat, only other "job" left is top up the bird bath to help out

Food, bit of same again, another use up cheese & Marmite toasty fro lunch
Dinner, could be salad but it also could be clear freezer space F & Cs with LO HM coleslaw

Not watched professor T but it reminded me of a rerun of him being the clever clogs copper on the desert island. Very quick to judge aren't I?

    Good morning everyone,
I enjoyed the previous series of Baptiste and will watch this one on i-player. I'm halfway through a Scandi crime drama series on Netflixs (Borderliner) which I'll finish first. I can only cope with one crime series on the go at once or I get completely confused lol!
Overcast but warm here this morning, with 23/24C forecast for this afternoon which is veering into the hotter than I enjoy zone. A good chance to catch up on some overdue admin until it cools down a bit later I think.
Salad wrap for lunch and Tonight I'm roasting chicken legs with Cajun spice to have with this  https://www.theguardian.com/food/2021/j ... d-potatoes and a chopped salad.
  • Snap with the telly, Brambling. Loved first episode of Baptiste - had to stop myself binge watching the lot on iPlayer. Pretty certain I will have finished it by the end of the week 😉 Didn’t realise Prof T was a remake, I won’t be able to cope with the original if it’s got subtitles 😂

Been into a ridiculously hot office today, although mainly because I had a training session all afternoon, which thankfully was in an air conditioned room 😀

Lunch was sweet potato and feta couscous. Making salmon nicoise tonight, think the salmon will be cooked on the bbq as way too hot for the oven still…
