I do wish suppliers wouldn't keep "improving" things, Asda best thick pork bangers were fine as they were, now they are Gluten Free and although OK just to don't cook the same

I hate it too especially when things like washing tablets/capsules 'improve' I have problems with the smell of most they can make me wheeze, I got upset when M&S stopped selling theirs for a while a couple of years ago, luckily they started again but not in every store.  Two of my nieces have children with coeliacs and get frustrated as new improved often means gluten appears in previous 'safe' food and they are constantly having to  monitor the coeliac website for updates.  As my dad would have said if it's not broke don't fix it

The !!!! hit the fan at work with our system upgrade, goodness know what our developers are doing I don't think they do 🙄😡 therefore no system meant no testing today and next weekend's go live has been pushed back at least another week.  At least it meant I got a piece of lurking work finished, and a 50 page instruction document sent to my French colleague before Tuesday deadline 🙂

Lunch was fish fingers and salad (no bread :| ) last time I was in W8itrose I picked up some of their frozen haddock jumbo fish fingers on offer so I AF a couple they are very nice 🙂 I wished I had tried them when they were still on offer I would have brought another box 🙄

Dinner was from another freezer find some corned beef which I brought over a year ago YS from a deli counter. I made a corned beef hash and had with the last of some sweetheart cabbage, as it was thin slices it went a little mushy and looked messy but it was very tasty 😋

Ah, another advantage of CFO, only you to worry what it looks like 😉

Made it to the weekend! I too managed to get things done today that I didn’t expect to, nice feeling to end the week.

Bored of soup, toast and jacket spuds, I went a bit summery today and had quiche, salad and coleslaw for lunch. Made a new recipe tonight from the Waitrose magazine - courgette, anchovy and ricotta pasta. Was nice but I think I would cook the courgette next time...recipe was to stir cooked pasta into finely chopped raw courgette...

Sun's out for May Day, deceptive though, it's cold despite the sun. It's supposed to be Naked Gardening Day but I think I'll give it a miss :o

I managed some YS from Costcutter yesterday, MFO nuke Chicken jalfrezi & a large pizza, both £1.49, I had the CJ last night, it was fine for what I paid [£2.50 normal]

That was PN's mantra, it all goes down the same hole so who cares :) . Anyone any news about PN BTW?

If the sun keeps going I may get round to putting in the runner bean canes, I was intending planting the beans out but the forecast for Monday is awful and certainly not bean weather so postponed again

I've had those, nice, W8rose have got fish fingers sorted at least

Meals today, lunch, maybe sausage sarnie because I'm getting fed up with cheese
Dinner, the Costcutter YS pizza, not yet closely examined but may add extra cheese & some sliced fresh mushrooms if required

    Good morning everyone,
Another here who hates when they change or improve things. I'm very prone to contact allergies and tend to stick to the same laundry and toiletry products. I've lost count of the number of times various things have been "improved" only for me to react and need to stop using it and find a new one having not realised the formula had changed!!
Sunny but chilly here today. No family gatherings tonight and much as I enjoy them I'm looking forward to quiet evening. Apart from beginning to pot on my tomato plants I'm for a lazy day. HM pork & leek burgers and some Stornoway black pudding are defrosting for dinner. Lunch will be a BLT and some grapes.

A bit of a running around day, I was in Lidl just after 9am for a few bits for tonight's dinner it was surprisingly quiet and space in the car park 🙂

My sister and I used our year garden pass for the first time today, it tried to rain a couple of times but we had a lovely walk around the gardens, we may have walked further then planned as we somehow got turned around and she ignored my turn right here 🙄 my sense of direction is usually really bad so she decided that if I said right it was probably left😁 it just meant a six mile walk before a late lunch (map next time as they are really short of signage) but we enjoyed the ducklings skimming across the pond and the joeys peeking out of the wallaby pouches 😁. No wine tasting today but it will be booked

lunch was a healthy slice of carrot cake, we had a voucher for free cake with a hot drink 😋.  My sister and nephew came for dinner I had saved a large piece salmon from W8itrose offer and marinated it with lime, ginger, chilli and mirin sprinkled with sesame seeds and baked i made a large vegetable fried rice and served with broccoli and French beans.  I brought a lemon tart from Lidl and added raspberries as I CBA to cook one was too busy to make dessert 😋 LO rice and green veg and a very small piece of salmon for tomorrow lunch I sent my nephew home with the LO tart

I made a batch of Delia’s smoked mackerel pate this morning so had some of that for lunch with toast and carrot, cucumber and pepper sticks.

Treat of burger, sweet potato fries and coleslaw tonight. Oh and a 🍷

Another sunny start to the day, I'll carry on with weeding the plant pots later

Brambling, sounds like a nice day out for all, and even Lidl's behaving.
I am tempted a bit into trying L's again, my local one is quite small & the hordes now go the new biggy one. I'll see, can always turn round if not liked

JKS, I keep fancying smoked mackerel pate but seem to forget to add SM to my on line shopping list, just corrected that & added some, on offer as it happens.
The chilled section was always on my YS mooching patrol route so such items would randomly go into my basket in the "old days"

I have another ciabatta in the Panny, hopefully ready in time for lunchtime sarnie, probably cheese & salady
Dinner is use up, I have LO boiled new spuds, so fry them as base for use up eggs in omelette thing, with use up bangers & use up LO beans

Followed by recorded Gardeners' World and last of Line of Duty, seems like a good day ahead :)

    Good afternoon everyone,
Oh I've not made smoked mackerel pate in yonks, I must rectify that soon.
You were well walked Brambling but sounds like a lovely day out.
Dry and chilly here again, just 6C just now and not due to get much warmer. My sister is popping round this afternoon and I think it will be fleeces all round so we can have a natter.
Roast chicken later but with salad & coleslaw rather than veg/gravy. I've made up a basting paste for the chicken of sundried tomato, garlic, basil, oregano, butter and olive oil just as a change from the usual garlic, rosemary & lemon. I hope it's tasty.
LO black pudding for brunch an egg and a tattie scone may well be added.

    'morning all

Nothing planned today, just same ol' same ol'

Lunch, my fresh HM ciabatta turned out very well I'm trying to think of a filling that isn't cheese, BLT would be nice except I've no B in the house.
I'll have a rootle among the tins & see if anything takes my fancy
Dinner, I have LO mash so I'll nuke that and probably have with salad + mystery not made my mind up yet, more rootling, this time in the freezer, maybe salmon or posh chunky fish fingers

    Good morning everyone,
Cold, wet and windy here today I doubt there will be many Bank holiday visitors to the beach unless they are very brave!
The basting butter with sundried tomatoes in it I made for yesterday's chicken was just gorgeous, a bit messy to get it under the breast skin but definitely worth it.
A rare treat for us tonight of t-bone steaks, not our usual Monday night type of meal but thought we'd treat ourselves to mark the holiday day. Lunch will be a chicken and coleslaw wrap.
