Glad it's not just me and 25p bananas Brambling, not that I'll be buying nay more of them but I expect the upshot will be loads of small ones left as folk just take the bigger ones for same price.
As used to be the case with loose broccoli in S/m, a lot of folks [including me] cut off the long stalks before weighing & paying for just the flower head

Enough moaning, sun's out again and another salad again, doing well for my greens for the moment
Lunch to be a corned beef + pickle sarnie
Dinner, fried salmon fillet, salad, probably with HM AF chips but saw a mention of hash browns somewhere so that bit may change if I can locate them in the freezer

I heard a report that corned beef is very popular now, no doubt that'll put it on the "How Much?" list along with five shilling bananas :s

I already think that when I look at the price of lower fat corned beef Farway

I had a early start today as the PITA cat decided he wanted out as 6.30am as he prefers not to use the litter tray🙄 For the first time in several weeks I decided to go down to town as I needed some non-exciting but heavy stuff like dish washer tablets and tomato feed in Wilkos, £shop and Savers, I parked in town rather than having to walk back to my sisters.  I had hoped the local fruit farm would be in the FM with rhubarb but they weren't there today, I did go into M&S for milk, washing capsules (theirs don't make me wheeze) and bananas (4 for 52p) 🙂 and picked up a couple of packed of roasted salmon YS £2 rather than £6 - by the amount of reduced packs I'm assuming I'm not the only one who would have balked at the £6 price,

Then home via the pet shop to make use of £6.50 of vouchers, his food wasn't needed yet but the vouchers run out next week so he's now sorted for a couple of months

Late lunch of a couple of crumpets with cheese and pickle.  Dinner was a piece of the salmon, a boiled egg, new potatoes and a watercress salad

i hope you had a good family gathering Caronc  :)

  • So, the leftover curry was recycled into lunch today (on a jacket spud). Lunch was in between a swim (very exciting) and bathroom cleaning, not so much 🙄

Tonight’s creation was Spanish chicken traybake served with crusty bread. Leftovers will do another day’s dinner and 🤞a packed lunch...

Very deceptive outside, sunny day but the strong wind is cutting through to the bone

    Grrrrr, :s

When hunting for the hash browns yesterday i discovered some frozen ready baked spuds, so I nuked one of those instead for dinner, perfect for the job

Today is a lazy food day
Breakfast was stale bread toasted with pate
    Lunch, as breakfast
Dinner, frozen three cheese Asda pizza

Later catch up Gardeners' World & L.O.D, who shot who?
I watched a spoof review on You Tube, they reckon Keeley Hawes pops up & shoots them both, at least it would fit in with all the plot twists :D

    Morning

Spent most of yesterday walking. Went on a 7 mile ramble with a local meetup group and given that I'm quite unfit, I'm impressed that I finished it.

After that I went for coffee in a friends garden. A lovely day...

It meant food was a little different...

Cereal and a banana for breakfast and a yummy packed lunch for the walk (I was actually more excited about that than the walk itself!) Egg mayo and salad ciabatta roll, ready salted crisps, pear, apple & a cheeky snickers crispy chocolate...loved it.

Didn't have tea before I went for coffee so perked myself up with some giant wotsits and then got home later than expected so ate the rest of the bag for tea. I was too tired to bother with anything else.

Nothing happening here today except getting some washing done.

Breakfast was cereal and a banana. Fruit and fibre is the cereal of choice at the moment.
Lunch will be the leftover egg mayo with bacon on a ciabatta roll and hash browns on the side, probably a piece of fruit too.
Not sure about tea, I need to check the dates on things in the fridge.

    Good afternoon everyone,
Yes definitely gone are the days when corned beef was a cheap "night before" payday meat for folk!
Yesterday was just a brilliant day, the weather was kind and we ate, drank and laughed and until quite late. Quite a bit of work to prep for it and lots to clear up today. I didn't want to lose valuable family time and of course we couldn't all pitch in as usual so the kitchen was a bit of a bombsite this morning. It was well worth it though.
Order has been restored (more or less) and leftovers inspected lol! As expected quite a lot of ham left but just a nice amount of the various salads to use up over the next couple of days.
Lunch was a ham and coleslaw sandwich with corn salad and some grapes. It's HM pizza if I cba I'll make the base if not I'll use a naan from the freezer. I need to make some tomato sauce as have finished my freezer stash. I've a few toms in the bowl getting past their best so will just make a small amount of sauce with those. Toppings are tbc though ham will feature lol!

I'm glad you had a lovely day Caronc you were lucky with the weather 🙂

Sounds like you had a good walk Frankie 🙂

I spent 3 hours In the front garden although I got nowhere near that much gardening done 🙄 I have great neighbours so I'm not complaining but I think I'm going to have to finish the bed near the road after dark 😁 I got caught by one neighbour's son and then his daughter before they went walking and then I caught up with the neighbour on the other side whilst her 5 year old daughter tried to persuade his lordship she only wanted a stroke, he wasn't so keen 🙂.

After lunch I went up to the garden centre with my sister, she wants to create a new flower bed so was looking for ideas, we also did this last summer and she took photographs then with ideas.  Garden wise she is a work in process still, I may have to my other sister to visit early and sort her.  I did pick up a £25 acer tree for £8 they seemed to have had a lot caught by frost all were reduced in 'sad corner' but the one I found still has its leaves.  My 6 foot tree was a £3 'sad pot'  10 years or so ago so I'm hoping with some TLC this one should be ok. We were hoping for a slice of cake but they haven't opened up their cafe yet

Food was a rinse and repeat of yesterday, lunch was crumpets and dinner a salmon and egg salad with new potatoes. I cooked extra new potatoes so it will be chips or potato salad

  • 7 miles is good going Frankie 👍. I did 4.5 today but then went to the pub for an enormous roast beef dinner. Was so nice to eat out!

Just a couple of crackers and cheese tonight 😉

Sounds like you had a good gathering Caron, and the weather as well. I do hope we don't go back to lock downs etc at least the jabs should help

Cold wind with blue sunny skies this morning, only garden related items are more watering of flower pots and maybe plant some irises I was given
My runners are begging to go out but it's too cold even though last normal frost date has passed here

Meals today are cupboard & freezer clearances
Lunch PB baguette, BB yesterday, I'll fill with Asda's mousetrap and sliced raw onion
Dinner, taken some pork bangers out to defrost for dinner with HM AF chips, open tin of beans + couple of fried eggs

    Good morning everyone,
I'm not convinced we've seen the end of lockdowns but fingers crossed that's not the case. Most things re-open to some extent here today but I'm in no hurry to be visiting shops or pubs.
Cold and cloudy here today and it's supposed to rain later. Looks as though once the rain goes we've got another cool spell coming for the next week or so. My bedding plug plants are due this week but I can't see me getting them outdoors for a good while yet. The last frost date here is not until late May.
I need to call the folk that installed my heating last week as we discovered at the weekend that one of the radiators in the kitchen is leaking. No sign of anything obviously needing tightened and it's very slight but will need fixing.
LO salads for lunch and ham & broccoli pasta bake for dinner.
