Evening all
Weather started out quite nice today but it's been wet, windy and chilly since mid afternoon, I've picked the empty wheelie bin up twice and have now moved it so it's resting against the full green waste bin in the hope it wouldn't bang down again overnight.
A lazy day just enjoying not having to work 🙂 Although I did have a text from a elderly friend who fell and broke her hip this morning, she was on the lounge floor for 5 hours until a neighbour worried he hadn't seen her go for her paper looked through the window and saw her at 11am, I've spoken to another friend / neighbour and she was awake and conscious just couldn't move, this friend is also on cat sitting duty and worried the old cat on 6 tablets a day will die on her 😬. She was still waiting for her op and texting me at 7.30pm but no visitors at the moment, hopefully they will move her to the local 'cottage' hospital to recoup in its rehabilitation ward as currently she's 20 miles away in the next county
lunch was last of Saturdays rice LOs goodness know why I made so much both my sister and nephew had seconds and I had two portions left 🙄 Dinner was going to be roast beef brought in Lidl Saturday but I wasn't that hungry so it's gone in the freezer, I opened a tin of beans and baked a small potato in the AF instead

The wind & rain has now moved on, still breezy but survivable, would be a good day to have stew & dumplings bubbling away, but I've notI found out yesterday the tins of Pilchards / Herrings I had have vanished
, the cunning plan was inside yesterday's lunchtime sarnie, but I finished up with tinned kipper fillets instead, the jury is out on them never tried before
Standby tins of Pilchards just added to my on line listToday's food is maybe toast & cream cheese for lunch. The cream cheese is BB March so better eat it PDQDinner, more of the LO mash, nuked, and assuming they haven't eloped with my Pilchards, I think I have some individual veggie pies in the freezer, I'll have one of those & some sort of frozen veg

Good morning everyone,
Lol Farway re the eloping tinned fish!
Your poor neighbour Brambling, hope her op goes well.
Still cold and wet here but not as wild. A good chunk of a neighbour's fence has come down but apart from some overturned pots and garden everything seems intact of mine.
Today's "to do" is to sort out the smaller freezer into some sort of reasonable order and get my inventory on the go again. It all went to pot when we redid the kitchen last year and something I should have tackled before now.
Attempt two to have t-bone steaks for dinner this evening after yesterday's plans went awry when my younger son had to unexpectedly help his brother avert a potential DIY disaster! Suffice to say this home improvement malarkey doesn't come easily to my elder son! Instead I made a one pan chicken, veg and rice bung it in, lunch will LOs of this,

I think today was the lull between two storms, windy but dry although the rest of the week looks bleak which will teach me to do a rain dance for the garden 🙄
I spent most the day training my French colleague on a piece of work I'm handing over and felt the need for gin once I finished but better not on a school night 🤔 I was tired by the end of it she must have felt worst as we were speaking English and that is what she was taking her notes in
Lunch was another jacket potato with the rest of the beans. Dinner a small piece of forgotten frying steak with new potatoes and veg. I also used the first pull of my rhubarb to make a small rhubarb crumble, no custard 😐 there are crumble LOs unless I fancy a midnight snack. I made chicken stock using bones from the freezer but think I put too much water as it was a small chicken I think I froze it to wait for another one, the colour doesn't look right and there's not much chicken left on it, I'll make soup tomorrow and add stock cubes which will be a lunches for the weekLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Nearly half way through the week already, which also means the grocery delivery has arrived 😀More like April showers here today...hail forecast tomorrow! Literally got soaked to the skin yesterday, luckily there was a lovely lunch at the end of the walk 😋Old favourite of scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch today, made prawn Thai curry tonight with added sugar snaps and water chestnuts.0

Sunny start to the day at leastBrambling, I was eyeing up my rhubarb yesterday & very nearly joined you in a rhubarb crumble but decided to leave it for the weekend by when I hope this rain will have turned it into a jumbo crumble & not just a crumbleI found the veggie pis in the freezer so had one for dinner, falls into the OK category, I'll not buy any moreWhile in the freezer I decided to oik out the XCFO topside beef joint and make some spaceDefrosted overnight & it's now in a low oven in the Dutch Oven thing, should be OK for a slice or so in a sarnie at lunchtimeDinner will be some of the beef, and probably a full on roast but that is subject to change & what the CBA meter is reading by thenEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Good morning everyone,
Dry and sunny but cold here today. My cousin who lives in Aberdeenshire posted a picture of her hubby removing snow and ice from their car this morning after it snowed overnight!
Still too cold to want to linger outdoors for any length of time, the garden will need to wait a bit longer unless it warms up a this afternoon.
My son is heading to Screwfix tonight to get a spade, weather permitting he hopes to start on the garden redesign this weekend.
I'm cooking a lasagne for tonight with the spare Italian sausage and ricotta mix from making cannelloni a couple of months ago.
Lunch will be a LO steak and salad wrap. The steaks last night were delicious but as I suspected far too big a portion for me so lots LO. Lunch might be a LO steak and salad wrap though I made a pan of lentil and bacon soup yesterday and may have a bowl of that instead and freeze the steak.

Crumble was very nice Farway 😋 although petite
and all gone now, the tin of custard was found after it was eaten hiding behind the tin tomatoes 🙄 I'm sure there will be another crumble soon 😁
I was due a W8itrose delivery this weekend but decided it's not really needed and moved it to next Saturday, I lost a couple of offers but they were going to go into the freezer so a like to have rather than a need to have. I'll pop somewhere on Saturday now I don't have to work to get milk, fruit and salad bits which is all I need, if the weather is as forecasted I may have a roast I've a choice in the freezer I'll see if I can cba
lunch was HM chicken soup I was right the stock wasn't as good as normal but it made a nice soup, I've been spoilt with the turkey soup 🙂. Dinner was a asparagus and pea risotto
Tomorrow will be take away and cake at my sister's 😁 I'm hoping for my favourite lemon drizzleLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
Good morning everyone,
Back to winter here today after yesterday's sunny though cold day. Yesterday evening we had some fierce hail showers, the first one started just moments after my son got back from his after work walk! I've had a postal vote for a few years now so thankfully no need to venture out to the polling station. I do hope the foul weather doesn't hugely impact on turn out.
Yesterday's lasagne was tasty but very scruffy looking, I should have used a bigger/deeper dish. There's half left so I will portion and freeze it though my son may well snaffle some for lunch.
Yesterday I went for the LO steak & salad wrap option for lunch instead of soup and it was so good I think a repeat will be on the cards today.
Bangers and mash with various veg and gravy for us tonight, just the weather for it. I'll do my usual and make a big batch of mash and freeze the surplus, ditto the onion base for the gravy. Apart from that, some housework and finalising tomorrow's Tesco delivery I've not much planned.

I'm another with postal vote but went out anyway, dropping off some tomato & runner bean plants, then into Co-op for milk, only wanted a pint or whatever size it is these days, but no blue top so looking like a Costcutter trip this weekend, I've got plenty but I like to have some in handThe pot roast FR beef has turned out very well, unlike the planned roast dinner. I just didn't fancy making it come the time so finished up with a bowl of cereal, hence the milk situationTaken the plunge & planted out my runners despite the cold nights, getting too big to hang around much longerPlus coupe of giant sunflowers are also out now.Next thing is slugs from miles around arrivingLunch was R beef & mustard sarnieDinner, probably mushroom omelette + bit of side saladEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
