  • Had a lovely, if cold, walk today. Back for scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast for lunch. Beef stroganoff (using leftover roast beef from the freezer), noodles and broccoli tonight.

Having been forecast snow during the night I expected to wake up to a white world, and it was just damp 🙂 we did have some but other than a little on car windscreen it's disappeared again.  I walked around my sister's this afternoon for my nephew's birthday dinner as I thought we would either have a lot more or it would freeze and nothing 😁

Lunch was toasted muffin topped  with scrambled egg and smoked salmon (freezer finds) dinner was pizza, salad and birthday cake.  A quiet day lockdown birthday for my nephew and my sister a little depressed at her 'baby' reaching his mid twenties 🙄 we 'let' him beat us at several games, he usually works out what we'll be doing as well as his own strategies

What variety of apple are you getting Farway, I've been thinking about getting a couple of small ones to add to my fruit bushes

White enough for you this morning Brambling?
It is here and still snowing,  not deep but enough to keep inside for those with wobbly legs. I think I'm on the edge of it as there none further West at my daughter's

Today's food is fishy all round
Lunch will be a fish finger & tartare sauce sarnie
Dinner, HM AF chips, with clear freezer breaded cod fillet and LO beans

Joybells, Never tasted but originates just over the border in Surrey so should do well here, plus good cropper
Exeter X not tasted but sounds good, plus one lot of ancestors came from Devon and I like Exeter, plus do not ripen all at oonce
Jester 'cos it sounds like a good 'un. Easy grower, Not tasted
Saturn, again not tasted but does sound good, and in your case maybe because it's self fertile
I've chosen all on M9 [dwarf] root stocks which should keep them in bounds even though I do prune to shape anyway
I was pondering for days on what varieties but opted for the above and trying to get something not available in shops, but once you start looking it can get very tempting
Hope this helps a bit, BTW if you do start putting some in the basket the basket vanishes if not used for a bit, PIA

    Good afternoon everyone,
Bright and bitterly cold here, snow is forecast but so far there's only been the odd short flurry.
I've had a virtual tour of my son's flat and it's gorgeous, lovely big rooms with high ceilings and lots of storage space in three massive cupboards.
Central heating controls are still playing up but I've managed to get an engineer booked for Wednesday and we can soldier on until then. Typical that has done this when the weather is so cold!
I made a pot of L&P soup earlier, just had a mug for lunch and it's really tasty. Plenty to do us for a few days lunches this week.
LO pork for dinner this evening either added to a stir fry or a quick Thai green curry.

Thanks for apple trees Farway info  🙂 I'll have a planning session what what's best and where I can put them, I' S been thinking about stealing some of my lawn to extend my veg beds 🤔

it sounds like a lovely size flat Caronc

We had a dusting of snow overnight and although it has been snowing on and off all day there didn't seem to be a lot more when I drew the curtains. I've if freezes I wouldn't be going out either, I can fall over my own feet in the best of times without added help

lunch was the same as yesterday toasted muffin, scrambled egg and smoked salmon.  Dinner was roast chicken, the benefit of working from home is prepping the veg lunch time and going on mute to pop the chicken in the oven 🙂 plenty of LOs for a busy week

  • Couple of centimetres of snow overnight which is slowly melting. It snowed on and off during the day but the wind just blew it around here. More forecast tonight and tomorrow, luckily I don’t have to go anywhere...

Lunch was leftover harissa chicken, roast veg and couscous. Made a chorizo, cannellini bean and spinach hash sort of thing tonight, with a cheeky poached egg 🙃

Too cold and snowy for fresh air and exercise, furthest I’ve been is to to the bin!

Bit more snow overnight, just a dusting.
Unfortunately I have to go out later to collect a new prescription, and some milk.
But I have a package due today as well so by the time that arrives some of the snow may be gone, but it is freezing so could be treacherous

I'm still trying to complete on line shopping order, every time I go back something else is "unavailable"
I'm alternating between 4sda & Ice£and, but it's like "whack a mole", grab one and something else vanishes, only common stuff like milk so I know it'll be back soon, just exasperating

Just waiting in for a parcel, due today & has to be signed for, once that arrives I'm out to collect a prescription & see what may be available in C0stcutter, once that is sorted I'll know what I'm eating today

    Good morning everyone,
I have no heating or kitchen electrics!  :'(  Engineer has been to fix the boiler which was presumed to be causing the issue but it's not though the control unit was faulty, electrician coming tomorrow to hopefully identify and fix whatever is wrong.
Various extension cables are now snaking about the place so I'm treading carefully but equally don't want the freezers to defrost.
Thank goodness for the stove as we had a smattering of snow overnight and it's sub zero outdoors.
I have a gas hob so HM soup for lunch and there's a chicken chasni more or less made which will cover dinner.
