:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Meg
The soup from the LO ratatouille was lovely and very :money:so what's not too like:). There's enough left for another small bowlful so lunch tomorrow will be a re-run of today's soup & sarnie combo.
While the soup was cooking I managed to get the remaining kitchen units cleaned down so another job done! I still need to do some shelves and of course inside the cupboards (I think I've worked out that with some inventive use of an old "back brush" and towel I could get to the back of the lower units) but I'm not contemplating those today;)0 -
Back snowing again, as forecast. That made my mind up, it will be suet pastry topping on the LO stew, looking forward to it now.
I've got a few LO cooked veggies just waiting for such an occasion, which I''ll probably chop and bung in the stew before I re heat it, a one pot meal.
I could even scoff it out of the casserole dish but think I'll plate it up with stew spooned over the crust.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Snow started again here - hopefully won't settle any more than the last few lots have done.
To my surprise (pleasure) something I ordered from up country is turning up on time soon (as per arrangement) - just had the email to tell me so. By 'eck - they make 'em tough in Yorkshire they do - obviously:rotfl:. Wonder if they'll make it across the Severn Bridge.....I'm rather expecting it to be in a huge high-sided lorry....but I may be wrong and it might be "white van man/woman" delivering it....
This is where I'm telling myself I shoulda said to "my little man (ie plumber" I finally managed to find for myself to fix whatever-he-thought insulation wise to outside pipes re boiler just-in-case. But my boiler is new-since-I-came-here and I think my set-up is such that I should be okay (fingers crossed). I'll have a word with him about it when I book this year's annual service....0 -
No more snow here but it's still flipping freezing so the stuff that's there hasn't moved.
I had a facetime chat with my elder son in Cardiff. They are effectively snowed in as they are well off the main road. The snow is a good 3ft deep where it has drifted, there is a small local SM nearby but although open had very little left by way of stock. That said the wind had eased and they were just heading to their local for a quick beer:D.
Breaded haddock, oven chips (though might make wedges), peas & broccoli for dinner tonight:).0 -
I've already had a small keema wrap and an apple dumpling with custard today... and 2 digestives..... and the last 8 midget gems.
Rest of the keema is potted up in the fridge, to be spooned out/reheated on a whim in the coming days.
Not sure what I fancy in a bit, but there's sausage rolls if I CBA with anything else.0 -
I am completely snowed in, 3 foot drifts, from another room I can see to the lane and it looks the same. I haven`t heard any tractor or 4 x 4 moving. Now I am thinking thaw, crikey, where is all that melted snow going to go, the stuff in the back. I can see me out there in wellies with a broom when that happens, pushing water and mush to a safer area away from the back. Not much of me would show above these drifts if I were to go out now, maybe head and chest. I have been watching dry snow blowing off the fields and piling up
I don`t mind being snowed in, don`t need anything but I nibble too much, I kind of hop from meal to meal. I am glad I didn`t do my usual seed sowing, nothing like that to look after and plenty of contact with ds and dd via e mail, both are also snowed in but my area is deeper. I am grateful to be warm and cosy and not to have lost power0 -
The latest snow has settled (thankfully not mega feet deep - but I don't fancy it).
Positively stir-crazy and bored - but glad to be here in the warm/with plenty of food/working bathroom/etc/etc. Much better bet than being stuck on a train or a broken-down car with no food/no heat/etc/etc.
At least I'm nice and comfortable.
Dinner tonight was a sort of carrot/tomato/lentil dahl with baked chips and steamed spinach (with lemon squeezed over). Answered the need for something both hot of temperature and hot (aka bit spicey).0 -
Oh kittie here's hoping it's not a too rapid thaw so the water has a chance to disperse.0

You may already know this, if it is a gas condensing boiler then AFAIK the only problem that may arise in this weather is the condensate outlet pipe freezing. It doesn't like a cold wind up it:D
Depends where the pipe terminates really, may have plenty of protection anyway. Mine is tucked into the right angled corner of house walls, but if it freezes easily remedied using hair dryer or hot water to defrost it.
The suet crust pie ex LO stew turned out scrumptious, I had half of it, but only that, no extra veg or spuds.
I have two good quarters left to make two more meals
I started with the L offer of beef chunks in January, made in SC, had two good stew meals out of that. The LOs were frozen and that was what I used today. Good value IMO, 5 good meals, would have been 6 if not piggy todayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
