That's pretty much how I usually do it PN except I remembered too late I had binned my old broom after last time 🙄. Yep there were maggots Caronc 🤢

I was looking at pressure washers on line recently and decided I'm don't really need one, afterwards I remembered next door has one 🙄

On the plus side whilst cleaning it in the garage block behind me I 'acquired' some apples from the tree which overhangs it 😁

'morning all. Blowing a bit today, not quite horizontal curtains but flapping around during the night because I had the window open.
    Suppose it beats melting overnight.

My beans are done for, yesterday's were tough & stringy despite appearances.
I'll leave the rest on the plants for next year's seeds, then they can come down in a few more weeks
One garden success, I picked an Elstar apple a few days back and had it with cheese later yesterday evening
Superb taste & juicy with plenty more on the tree. A YS bargain tree £2.25 from @sda in 2016 clear-out for Xmas stuff. It's first good year of fruiting
Your YS haul is impressive Brambling. With my W8rose closed very unlikely I'll do a YS W8rose mooch again :(

I'm not stockpiling any more than normal CFO "just in case I'm ill" anyway.
I will admit to having extra pasta than usual but that was for the anticipated Runner bean & tomato surplus which never materialised
Not noticed delivery slot shortage here, but as I've only started on line shopping post Covid it's hard to judge.
I'm still in the finding my feet stage of on line grocery shopping, ideally I need a scruffy Urchin to run to the shops for a tanner and get "bits" as I require them :D

Last night's roast was a bit of a wash out, what with stringy beans & tasteless wrinkly carrot the cabbage & cauli were lack lustre
Aunty B roast spuds were good though
Most of the veg went in the bin, hence cheese & apple later

Today I hope to do better fro dinner. I have a sausage & red bean thing in the SC, should peak late afternoon once DD has left
DD may collect a Phantom iceberg lettuce on her way, can't believe anyone is stockpiling them but they do seem elusive around here
Lunch another corned beef & piccalilli sarnie

    Wheelie bin cleaning.
I cheat & use a bin liner, plus double bag the kitchen bin  liner before it goes int the wheelie bin
A year or so back I found a huge box of charity collection bags dumped in the woods near me.
Presumably some one got paid to deliver them but found an easier method to get rid
I've been using them ever since to double bag the flip lid kitchen bin bag. Better than YS

  • I am feeling a bit sick today. I don't know why, maybe from the antihistamine I took.

I just had plain toast and a glass of almond milk when I got in from my walk. I only managed 5000 steps today.

    It's still warm here.

    Good afternoon everyone,
With the amount of slabbing I have a pressure washer is a must, it is used by the rest of my family too from time to time.
Dry and sunnyish here today, if my son ever gets dressed we are going to do some pre-winter garden clearing. I want to re-think my veg patch next year so a good time to get surplus tubs and compost dumped. I did suggest a skip but the boys reckon there's not enough to make it worthwhile.
The lamb was popped in the marinade first thing so just needs roasting later. BLT wrap for lunch.

Maybe call your dentist surgery PN as it's private you may have more luck in seeing them

I hope you had a good visit with your DD Farway :) and thank you for keeping the wind your side of the border  ;)  it's been warm here today 23/24 which drove me in from gardening lunchtime.

Most of my front garden is winter ready, I need to plant some crocus and allium bulbs and think what to do with my herb garden which was planted into a gravel circle and the gardener forgot to add a weed suppressant layer.  Ideally if I want to keep it I'll have to deconstruct and redo with a layer I just need to work out if that's what I want if not what to do with that piece of garden as it's not really the best of soil

i started to sort the back garden but my back was complaining  and it didn't take much to drive me indoors 🙂. Courgettes etc have been lifted (thank goodness as I picked four courgettes first) and I have two large pumpkins which will need hardening.  They aren't worth the space they require in my small veggie patch so I won't bother next year, the seeds were given to me.  The removal of the courgettes etc highlighted that the brambles had return.

Question for you gardeners I'm thinking of adding weed suppressant on my veggie patch should I add a layer of manure to overwinter the ground under it? Unfortunately I know no one who has old carpet to put down.

lunch was a egg and watercress wrap.  Dinner was roast beef, parsnips. carrots, tenderstem broccoli, courgette and the last of my runners.  I meant to have Savoy cabbage rather than the broccoli but forgot until I went for the horseradish and saw it sitting there larger than life 🙄 the  broccoli was for another day, still plenty left as well as a large cabbage 😳

  • I just had toast and marg. I have to leave to go to the chiropodist after I dry my hair. It's the most exciting thing I've done in weeks.

Yes, it was nice to see her, being fit she carried the garden chairs out and we sat socially distanced outside
She came bearing gift of an Iceberg lettuce, I swapped it for a freshly picked apple and some HG grapes
I said to say hello to my XCFO dinner currently eating acorns in the New Forest >:)
Big success with my slow cooker sausage & beans thingy dinner, a good choice just plopping away until I was ready
Def make one of those again, but shan't bother with a packet of "mix", I reckon the usual Oxo + herbs + flour should do the job for less

I think I'd deconstruct and start over. Herbs are very handy and forgiving

I wouldn't, leave the muck until Spring then mulch with it and let the worms do the rest of the work. adding it before covering may just give winter succour to your weeds

After breakfast it was make another pre mix loaf in the Panny, out now & cooling for lunch
Final selections made on the @sda shopping list, some items not available, what is it with tinned spaghetti?
Lack of bread flour I can understand, and no fake Kit Kats either :(
Duly clicked & arriving Wednesday afternoon. I may buy real Kit Kats in the Co-op on Tuesday, always seem to be on £1 offer in there

Lunch, now I have lettuce will be cheese salady sarnie with the fresh & warm loaf
Dinner, still warm out so ideal for a LO corned beef + salad & baked spud

    Good afternoon everyone,
Hope you  manage to get an appointment to have your teeth checked PN.
Glad you had a good time with your DD Farway.
My son & I had a productive time in the garden yesterday (well mainly him!) and the veg patch apart from the Calvo Nero, the green house toms and the flower baskets are all cleared.
The marinated lamb worked really well, it was only a small piece so only two tiny slices left that I'm just about to have on crackers with a mug of HM takeaway-style chicken & sweetcorn soup  for lunch.
My elder son was is now out of quarantine was supposed to be coming for dinner but can't now so I've been a nice sis/aunt and invited my sis and nephew to join us. I'm cooking a recipe from the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/sep/14/thomasina-miers-recipe-for-spatchcock-chicken-with-lemongrass-miso-butter so plenty for four but if they can't come I'll freeze half of the uncooked marinated chook for another time.

That sounds lovely Caronc - I have some frozen chicken 1/4's and will give it a try with those
