I'm cooking a recipe from the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/food/2020/sep/14/thomasina-miers-recipe-for-spatchcock-chicken-with-lemongrass-miso-butter so plenty for four but if they can't come I'll freeze half of the uncooked marinated chook for another time.

That sounds lovely Caronc - I have some frozen chicken 1/4's and will give it a try with those
I think it would work well with chicken portions and a bit more CFO friendly as well.

I found this when checking the recipe Caronc and may try it the next time my sister asks for my bakewell tart  :)

Thanks Farway :)  I just just need to pressgang find a willing volunteer to help me move a load of gravel  ;)

I think today is the last of the warm weather and i've been sitting working looking out the back door and his lordship sun bathing on the patio, I think I had better bring my pumpkins in and find a place to harden them off in doors

Lunch was a bowl of HM chicken soup and dinner will be nasi goreng with pork mince which I cooked lunchtime and will reheat for dinner there will be LOs of course as I find it impossible to CFO

EDIT - I found the tub of beef gravy granules i though I had lost so I now have 3 is that stock piling? it had fallen under the shelving in my larder cupboard I knew I hadn't completely lost the plot, although buying 2 afterwards to replace it may have been  :s  my sister may end up with it as it will take forever for me to use 3 tubs

The 'flat' that's actually a single storey side extension, that I didn't want as I suspected the "garden" was actually a communal area/footpath to the bin store - and where you'd park your car beside the bin store and sit in the living room facing ceiling to floor wall to wall windows looking at the bin store and your own car radiator grille .... has just been "relisted" at a reduced price.  That's where an agent has it on their books, reduces it, it's still not sold, so they remove that listing and create a brand new listing on RM at the lower price, thus "hiding" its length of marketing and previous asking prices.
This version of the listing confirms that the "garden", that they dressed with a little table/chairs, is in fact communal and clearly is actually the route for neighbours to drag their bins in/out... it's only about 4-5' deep; the door to this area is in the bedroom, so you're laying in bed while the neighbours trot back and forth past the door by your ear/pillow as they go to and from their bins.... and, no doubt, kids/bikes etc getting in/out.
It's an absolute no, no, no, no, never, never, ever, never, no way for that one - even if they gave it away for free.

It's so far been £290k in June, OIEO £280k in July and now £270k. It was bought brand new in 2017 for £243k and "house price change guess" websites indicate it'd now be worth £258k.

  • There are loads of houses up for sale near me. I keep noticing new boards up each day I go out.

I just randomly ate a lot of things when I got home as I went for a walk and only had a slice of toast before I left. I had 2 spring rolls, a salad and some crisps. I also had a few bites of chocolate thing I bought from Coop.

You might be staggered to discover how much they want for them.... loads of boards round here, but if I do bother to try to look one up they're usually closer to £400-500k wanted, not my 300k :)

    Don't quote, will delete

About to lose a "housemate".  Nearly 50, highly educated, highly experienced in banking IT stuff at a highly paid investments/futures/markets/derivatives/whatnot and whatever ..... got laid off when I moved in here, not been able to work since.  He had planned next week to "give up/go to W4les to move in with his friend", but is now moving today as Wales is about to lockdown.  Most likely will never work again in anything like that industry.  He's got a job lined up, picking in an amazon warehouse on minimum wage.  I think he started life in a mansion possibly with servants (abroad).... always worked, in good jobs, with intelligent people, in highly driven environments.... it'll be a culture shock. I think his mate got him in there.

    Good afternoon everyone,
At least your housemate has a job to go to, many are less lucky.
That sponge recipe looks delicious Brambling. :)
The chicken/spud recipe was delicious, and it would definitely work equally well with chicken portions.  The spuds were gorgeous too, I wish had made more them. My sis and nephew did join us so there's only carcass pickings LO, some of which have been popped in a salad sarnie for lunch though it's far from salad weather here today. I'm trying out the mushroom cannelloni recipe from the JO book, I'm going to make a full batch but portion it into smaller dishes so I can freeze the spares ready to pop in the oven over coming years.

sounds like more of a public right of way than a garden and any table would need to be moved every time anyone has a bin to be emptied! You would see a lot of people every week though !!

Out "doing" the volunteer border this morning, nice & warm
Over to the Co-op for some chocs, Kit Kat no longer on offer, got Twix instead.
Sod's law of course, DD brought along an Iceland lettuce on Sunday so the Co-op now has loads of the things
Bought YS mushrooms though, they are one thing I'm avoiding buying fresh on line, seen too many packs of brown slimey ones in my pre Covid shopping days

Back for cheese & salad sarnie lunch
On line & bought my XCFO meat special offer, plus extra FR pork chops / steaks whose owners are currently hoovering up acorns in the New Forest:wink:
I may amend it later to add some FR lamb
Delivery is mid December, I'll have freezer space by then and the world will be very different as well I expect

Message from @sda, seems my order has low stock items on & may have subs for Loo rolls & C+O pasty
Luckily tight @rse chose the own brand cheapo so only way is up at same price. Fingers crossed. Due tomorrow afternoon

Another message, dentist has cancelled my Nov appointment. Probably catching up with all the urgent ones
Just a check up. I have to 'phone & re book at some time. No rush

Dinner will be nuked LO SC banger & bean thing.

That flat with bin store alley sounds bad PN. It would drive anyone mad especially if a neighbour assumes it was handy to leave the pram there etc
I suppose it will sell for the right price, everything does.
I saw on local news converted offices that were really just box rooms, open oven door & can't shut kitchen door sort

PN Bit of a blow for your HM, must be a lot like him around who thought it wouldn't touch them and future secure
I was listening to radio at lunch time, very mixed CV 19 results, some folk have flourished & prospered, new opportunities etc, others on bones of their bums
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens

I looked for cannelloni tubes in W8itrose Caronc to make this but they didn't have any  :/ I've brought lasagna  instead so it may end up as that if I CBA to soften and roll the lasagna sheets

Chicken theme meals today :) Lunch was a portion of HM chicken soup and I was invited to dinner at my sister's and enjoyed a roast chicken dinner followed by apple crumble and custard 🙂
