I do pre-prep veg and it keeps for several days in the fridge. Only this week I have done caulie, broccoli, sweet potato but several other veggies can be pre-prepped, carrots, swede and the crispier lettuces will keep a couple of days. I pre-prep all my parsnips because I eat them instead of potatoes, I part roast and freeze. I tend to do cabbage fresh but I am sure that would also sit happily in the fridge, dry not drowned. If I didn`t pre-prep than I would not be eating the amount of veg that I do eat

I just had some toast with peanut butter but will have a hot meal at about 9. I have defrosted ratatouille, some black pudding, a tomato and an egg. Nothing exciting but plenty of veg in that and I could not face the ratatouille for my last meal yesterday.

I am going to have a later lunch today, probably a rm veg lasagne with cabbage followed by fresh cherries and then last meal of all will be the carbs that I crave and seem to need, about 5ish. This is a re-modelled timetable for me, I just don`t feel like any veg or fruit at, or after, 5, so I aim to get it all in well before my stomach closes up for the day. I will have berry/apple compote with yogurt mid afternoon and I think my total for the day will be about 9 or 10.

Too dark to see out but very windy still and more snow expected later, on frozen ground

The back of my house is frozen solid with ice - there was freezing rain hitting the patio doors/back of the house all yesterday evening and all the windows on that side are frozen solid with thick ice. It looks like bathroom glazing, every window, top to bottom, in full.

I did pop outside but then remembered that if you live alone there's nobody to spot you've been out and not come back inside .... so one slip and I'd be lying out there until my hastened end.... so I'm back inside.

    Heating's working, so all's good.

I have enough warming food to feed an army, including two sausage rolls, which I'll "save" for lunch. So I'll be all right Jack. I might put that slow cooker on .... I should, but will I, or with the CBA gene demonstrate how dominant it is :)

exactly what I thought this morning, there will be a few, who have gone out in the garden to fetch fuel or something. That ice is lethal

More snow yesterday which has started to drift - absolute chaos on the roads. First time I've see icicles for quite a while :).

Stay safe and keep warm :)

There's quite a few photos up on Facebook at the moment (that "Pembrokeshire - I love it!" site) of icicles at various locations. That site specialises in "beautiful nature" photos various people send in - and the photos were certainly still coming in yesterday. It was astonishing to me just how many people were still going out for walks - judging by the number of photos they were sending in saying "Look at this beautiful beach I'm on right now" or words to that effect.

Whilst I was out yesterday doing my voluntary work thing - I could see several people (all men - musta been doing the macho thing:rotfl:) sitting outside a cafe having a coffee or the like:eek::snow_grin

Mygawd they make some of them tough here:rotfl:. Me - I checked out the weather forecast for next few days and decided to postpone going to the supermarket from Friday to Saturday (on the grounds it should be a couple of degrees warmer by then).

Wouldnt be surprised if I get another phonecall today from my elderly mother (parents are still back in the West Country) doing some more "shopping by proxy" via me. She's been steadily phoning at intervals - arranging for me to buy various cold weather things she's belatedly decided she wants and have them sent to her (yesterday's request, for instance, being some warm nightdresses). Just as well I've got her tastes pretty sussed-out by now...

i'm jealous!!! We don't have any snow- well no more than a teaspoonful and I've not felt the need to even put on a coat or socks yet, let alone scarves, hats, gloves.

    Good morning everyone,
No more snow here but it's still sub zero and has become very windy. Another day in the house for me.
I have a grocery delivery booked for this morning and I'm half-expecting a call to say it is delayed or cancelled though the roads are ok around here so you never know. Ditto with the smart meter installer due this afternoon.
Meal plans for the day depend on whether shopping arrives or not, I've plenty of alternatives if they don't.

I've just made myself a nice hot chocolate, topped with a mountain of mini marshmallows. :)

    Sounds really yummy :).

My little tot made her first snowman yesterday and the squeals of delight was so lovely. Last night she looked out of the window to see if he was flying :)

I've been making stews and soups this week - the freezer is bulging lol

Andrew, I've been thinking of Tim. Hope he manages to complete on his house :)

That thought is never far from my mind - especially when I have to take the dog out late night in freezing temperatures. No one was out in my village last night. Except me. So I have decided to get myself something like a rape alarm. Also one of those torches with bells and whistles and flashing lights - which I have always sneered at - might be a good idea.
And now to a matter of national importance. This seems to be the elephant in the room but what are all those people stuck for hours on the motorways etc doing for a toilet? I mean - if you are out on your own, I guess it is no big deal, but if you have cars at the back of you and cars at the front and it's daylight, you are going to have to grin and bare it...
Still not able to get out the village and no shops here. Today's menu is the soup I made yesterday, eggy fried bread and lentil dahl. Plus maybe a home made sponge if the sugar craving gets too much. :D
