Brekkie: Big bread roll toasted, beans, eggs
Lunch: Turkey chilli/basmati
Tea: 2 hot sausage rolls
Nibbles: Packet of crisps, some favourite choccies and some midget gems
Let's call it: Laying down some fat ready for the cold weather in the next 1-2 days0 -
Well that's my posh group vegan meal out later this week postponed too - due to weather. So that won't be happening for a few weeks after all in the event:(
Social things "crashing and burning" all round at the moment - I'm still going to make it to my voluntary work tomorrow - but no-one else will. Oh well...
May be just as well - as just developed a minor temporary health problem. Me being me - I've already googled/found out what it is/figured out remedies (both conventional and alternative). Made my decision - for alternative ones - and will be duly heading for my larder.
My definition of what doctors are for is confirmation of what I've already decided something is - if that....:rotfl:
Right - that'll be yogurt, olive oil, tumeric, coconut oil and garlic all getting hoicked out for double duty. With the way I eat - I've got all I need in already:rotfl:0 -
I was only CFO yesterday, as the second I stepped through the door after work, Hubby told me he didn't want any tea because he was feeling sick. The only thing we had in was a pack of thin cut steaks, so I cooked them all up, sliced up 3 and combined with plum cherry tomatoes sizzled in the frying pan and a generous dollop of pesto, and stirred into pasta. I turned the remaining 2 steaks into a steak and onion sandwich for my lunch today.0

I have settled snow. Not a lot, but it's still snowing, so I expect there'll be more.
Nothing to go out for .... and I have all the essentials in: instant coffee, sausage rolls, sweeties, eggs, beans, bread rolls, spuds.0 -
A good day yesterday, felt uplifted, well and warm and ate well ie enough veg. Was happy when ds phoned from home after all being sent home from work in glasgow. He cycled on his robust mountain bike, with very wide, nobbly tyres. Lots of people still stuck in their cars on the roads up there
I re-filled the flasks, water from 24 hours ago was still very hot, used for dishes. Lunch will be lean pork steak, cooked in the oven with part roasted parsnips, plus brassica veg, oven also warms house, . Then whetever happens I won`t need much food for rest of the day, however I have cake and some berries de-frosting. Would not be surprised if this amber was upgraded to red later
I will be weather model and radar-watching, love weather and the earth dynamics0 -
The snow is so deep now here in Cumbria, my blind dog has lost most of his points of reference - the touch of familiar ground and smell. So I have to direct him. When he does finally do his business I have to reach down to my elbows to find and bag it - the only guide being fresh little craters in the snow.
It's hard work walking - unless I stick to the compressed tractor tyre tracks in the road. It is above my wellies in the fields where it has drifted.
I'm glad of the solid fuel stove as it means I will still have some warmth and a means of cooking even if the power goes off. I'll finally try that turkey mince today. He will have some too, cooked up with rice and beans. All done on the stove to save electricity.
Another one stocked to the gills with pasta, plus rice and lentils. I might get bored but I won't go hungry!0 -

. Had to applaud our local GP yesterday who arrived to attend to an elderly neighbour on skis
- fantastic.
My husband left for work at 7am and didn't arrive home until after 10pm. Numerous house calls for the elderly and he then sat to comfort a poor lady whose husband had died. It's a tough job ..... Supper was at 10.30 pm
Pineapple, I do feel for you poor little dog with this bad weather, but at least he's really cared for0 -
I`m definitely going to have a small multi fuel stove after I move. No-one thinks of snow and ice until it happens and even yesterday I was looking at a lovely neat house on RM. 2005 and guess what, no chimney so no fire so won`t be having a viewing. Lots locally have rayburns and agas, I used to have a real os anthracite aga, 1976 ish, only source of warmth and hot water but by golly, baked the most fantastic bread. That cottage in the middle of no-where in n wales was 1750 and so basic. I was glad to leave0

I remember the 60s ... having to go out and get the coal, having to clean out the grate area in the mornings, sweeping away coal dust, clinkers and ash....
And, you have to store/dry/keep all that stuff somewhere.
I'm more of a "magic switch on the wall to twist" kind of person0
