It's called a jostaberry bush.  Thanks Brambling, I am going to order one.  Makes the ribena berry gang look positively anorexic.

    Good morning everyone,
Hope you're not too sore today Wednesday and have got over the fright you must have got.
I've never had much success growing fruit apart from brambles, even my rhubarb hasn't come to much so just stick to veg now but the jostaberries look lush :)
After yesterday's stodge I ended up feeling a tad bloated so it's lots of F&V for me today. I had tomatoes on Finn crisp crackers and a couple of plums for breakfast and it's ham salad for lunch. I've chicken legs defrosting to roast for dinner, depending on what the weather does I'll either make a roast-type dinner or we'll have it with salads. Either way cabbage and Ayrshire tatties will feature.
Between showers yesterday afternoon I managed to get three large hanging baskets re-lined and planted up. If it stays dry today I'll make a start on the smaller hanging baskets and wall baskets.

We used to have a row of blackcurrant bushes in the house I lived in aged 3-10.  The row must've been about 20' long, so 6-8 plants or so.  They were at the bottom of the long garden with space behind and in front to pick them.

One year, while the berries were still green, my sister stuck one up her nose and a hospital visit was required.... she was probably aged 4-5.

I guess, later, I really should go out for a loaf of bread... as I've none.  Guessing, it'll be to a Mr T where I know where stuff is ... and so I might as well get a cucumber too (as paste is better with cucumber) and some more pots of paste (as they don't go off and I'm down to my last six pots).....

I've had trouble sleeping the last week, been up at all times of day/night, often waking up and not knowing which day it is. e.g. 7pm last night I woke up and thought it was 7am this morning for at least 20 minutes before I realised :)

At 5am this morning I was having a noodle pot for breakfast.  Not sure what to get later, might do a drive by of the burger place, but I was disappointed when I went yesterday. Admittedly it was 1.15pm on a Saturday but it was full of people, including some gathering of "old army vehicles appreciation group" all parked up and standing in a crowd of 20-30 or so chatting.... that's how I ended up at the chippy having a pea fritter and chips.

Thanks guys. I have some very impressive bruises, at least I landed on my back rather than my front!

I had toast and Marmite for breakfast.

I'm making a vegan burger in a bun with HM potato wedges and a salad later.

Ooh, my husband is going into Londis and he will see if they have that lovely pepper mustard I tried from there what seems like months ago now! :) I wish I had bought it in bulk at the time. :D

That will go on my burger today, hopefully.

My Asd@ C & C went well, very easy pick up, the only niggle is I've been charged for bags but there were none, luckily I had some in the car as it happened.
At least I've now got a washing up bowl, subbed black instead of silver, not hat I mind.
Next stage is getting the 40p bag refunded but I think I'll have to wait until the "system" updates just in case then machine knows what it's doing

Lunch became a cheese & salady sarnie, with a mini fruit pie to finish
The Jostaberry looks interesting, with a varied pedigree, not for me due to lack of space
I sampled one of my cherries, not quite ready but I spotted the snails have discovered them so must be close now. Very picky snails :)
If they all survive this will be my biggest harvest yet in the 11 years I've had it

I went and had my cheeseburger, with onions and ketchup.

I forgot to mention, yesterday I popped into the out of date place and, by pure fluke, spotted the last box of the fruit pastilles that I found were absolutely lovely - so grabbed the box.  12 bags (250g/bag) for £5, so that's 42p/bag.  They're lovely, but their full retail price is usually £2/bag, which turns them into "occasional treat" and not "just grab at that price".  I'm already nearly at the bottom of the first bag.....

After my cheeseburger I went to Mr T.  I got a cucumber, 4 pots of paste, 12 packs of doritos ... and a loaf of bread, but the bread's quite short dated to 9th June.  Trouble is, at that point, you either take it and gt out, or have to plod round finding other shops to queue at to go in just to see if they've got bread with a longer date... so I've got 2-3 days to plough through that entire loaf :)

I'll most likely have a sandwich later... and 2-3 tomorrow ... and 2-3 Tuesday.  Ditto Wednesday.

    Thanks Tea_Pea_Dee

i have had a lazy day and done nothing except think about what needs doing 🙄 which will probably mean I wouldn't be doing much sleeping later.

We've had showers this afternoon but nice and gentle ones which should hopefully benefit the garden more, I've a courgette baby as well 🙂

lunch was a smoked mackerel and egg salad, I know it isn't really salad weather not it was there.  Dinner was almost a repeat of last night but with cold beef instead of gammon, so beef, bubble and squeak and veg
