Is it sad that I'm exited that it's now raining  :D

Not at all! I only wish we'd had a bit more. It has dampened the surface, but won't have made a significant difference. I was thinking about buying a rain gauge, but as there was nothing in the bottom of the bucket of weeds when I went out last time, there probably isn't much point. It did start drizzling again while I was deadheading, but not enough to send me back inside. The rain we had forecast for tomorrow now seems to be off the agenda. Lots of dull, cool, damp days coming up. I guess I might get some housework (or even some work work!) done if I'm not trying to escape to the garden the whole time...

Sorry both, I seem to have snaffled your rain share, had lovely lot of it. Checked the cherries this morning, not split yet so fingers crossed.
Brambling, I think they are earlier cropping Westwards, my DD on the New Forest side of Southampton has been picking her strawberries outside. I have the same plants that they gave me and mine are just pinking up
But I did come across these this morning, and my neighbour has given me a couple of bananas too ripe for her.
Lunch is thus fresh fruit salad, with blob of Greek yoghurt & drizzle of honey

Dinner is very undecided, too cool for salad, too warm for roast.
At the moment Brambling's egg & chips could be the solution as I've eggs galore for now

Update, dinner decided, defrosting pork & apple bangers to go with eggs,AF chips & LO beans
On other news, ND has delivered my T*sco shopping, with Jersey Royals.
They look good and all being well I'll defrost a lamb something for tomorrow, and cancel the C & C Jersey's ordered from Asd@

My C & C from Morries has produced an unexpected result, they've given me a free delivery pass for three months, no doubt sprat to catch a mackerel with min £40 spend but if I continue isolating it may be useful, don't feel secure enough to venture into a SM at the moment

    Good afternoon everyone,
I have spare rain if anyone wants it and going by the forecast come tomorrow I can add in a gale for free!! 😉
With the weather not being suitable for gardening I'm having a chores day. The place has been given a thorough hoover, dust and mopping so it's feet up for a bit while the floors dry. My son has been confined to his 'office' previously known as my dining room and warned not to make foot prints 🤣🤣.
Ham & rocket roll for lunch today with baby plum toms and grapes on the side. Dinner tonight is pasty, beans and ayrshire potatoes.

That could e plain it Farway as my sister is also that side of Southampton, she has also picked strawberries.

The rain didn't come to much last night and none today just overcast  :|  at least it meant I could tackle the back corner of the garden which had been behind the compost bin, unfortunately it was brambles, holly, japonica and something with half inch thorns, some from my side some from my neighbour who I think I surprised by my language  😁 I didn't see him come out.  Garden waste bin went out full and I'm a little battled scarred 🙄

Lunch was a quick egg mayo sandwich when I got in.  Dinner was a pasta with vegetable and tomato sauce, enough for lunch tomorrow and some for the freezer

Morning all, dull & windy start this morning so no garden pottering today
I have a splat of LO HM coleslaw, so that's part lunch. It was on standby in case of salad weather returning
I'll use that for lunch, sort of ploughman's lunch with other salady bits & bobs
My ND T*sco shopping provided on offer Pilgrims Choice, 550g @ £3.50 which will go nicely with it

Lamb leg steak defrosted overnight, fresh peas in garden checked OK, all set for lamb dinner tonight, Jersey Royals, own peas [maybe mange tout size] spring cabbage & carrots. I've even got own mint for a sprig in the spuds, not quite self sufficient but it's a start of home fresh stuff season
There's is a lurking broccoli in the fridge but I suspect it may be past it, I binned it's sibling the other day

Yesterday, as I thought I had my next address sorted, I felt free to relax.... and so I went out to the chippy.  This time I tried the spam fritter (£1.90) with chips (£1.90).

It was passable.  The batter's good enough, but it wasn't something to rush back for.  I spotted he does pea fritters, ball shaped.... might try those next time (£1.10).

While the chippy's handy it's not one to rave about.  The owner himself yesterday was in a conversation with me about his food/what I've tried so far, he said "it's reasonable quality" .... so he doesn't rate himself the best either :)  He just does what it says on the tin - fries chips.... and other things.  No pretenses about being great, best, highest quality, award winning, organic, gluten free, vegan approved or any of those other bandwagons.  He's just the local chippy at the edge of the cheap area... and he's open.

I also scoffed other things yesterday.

This morning I had the two loaf crusts (always the last items to be eaten) spread with crab paste (whole pot between the two slices). I am now out of bread, flatbreads, cucumber, chocolate, sweets.... most things really.  I probably need to shuffle close to a shop to rectify that.

    Good afternoon everyone,
Glad you've got accommodation sorted out PN, although it's shared it's great you know that the place is well run and you seemed fairly happy when you were there before.
It's an odd day weather wise, it's blowing a hooley but sunny until it suddenly darkens and we get a rain squall. My elder son popped by earlier and to collect his birthday pressie (how can I have a 29 year old!!!!) and we managed to just avoid getting soaked when we had a natter in the garden. We are 'meeting up' later online for birthday drinks.
Lunch was a ham and rocket sarnie. Tonight is still tbc possibly a takeaway.

I think we can all sleep easy now you're settled PN, spot of luck there.
I was listening to a buy to let landlady, in Edinburgh as it happens, she took the opposite tack with the virus & has rented for set two years at reduced rate to the Council.
As she explained, she has no hassle, council sorts it all and pays her on time and she has no agent to pay.
Only time will tell who's made the right call

All the veggies prepped, the Jersey Royals look OK, whatever happened to the ones you had to scrape?
These look like bog standard "baby" potatoes but come with the Jersey tag, and Jersey price. Hope the Jersey taste is there as well
Only the peas to pick now
