    Good evening everyone.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience of microwaves which have a grill. In particular, are they any good?

Probably true. But, also, probably people massively suspected of having it who REFUSED to go quietly.
There will always be people who refuse to do things.  Difference over there is they can make you :)
This morning's news, they [UK Gov] CAN make you, hence upgrade of health advice, seems the stick is in there as one of the recent returnees wants to leave quarantine before due time
I do hope you don't get caught up by default in this lot PN, like some folks in a Brighton pub or holiday chalet

Weather permitting I'm going out tonight, on screen showing of the musical kinky boots, I may have to think carefully where I park the car as some of the spaces are on the outskirts  of the park and there are some big trees
If your weather was like mine I assume you stayed in last night
Bright & sunny this morning but I've not poked my nose out yet
    Porridge breakfast
Probably beef & mustard sarnie for lunch.
I'm getting fed up with beef now so dinner is likely to be some of my L offer fish fingers, HM chips & LO baked beans

Yes, I'm sure it'll be fine, it's the not knowing and waiting to see .... :)
I need to probably stop using the kitchen 100%.  Get a little kettle today .... and stock up on pot noodles, cans of fruit... items that can be eaten without cooking and require very little washing up at all. And sweeties.
A pot noodle pot can be rinsed out in an en-suite - and a single fork used to eat can also be washed like that.  Job done...

Hi MrAPJI nice to see you posting, I had one many years ago but didn't really rate it. I found the oven setting took ages to cook stuff so when it died I just replaced it with a standard microwave. They may well have improved since then though.
There's quite a bit of snow round about but so far we've only had odd flurries of wet, sleety stuff. It's still quite windy and bitterly cold. My sister's cat is very unsettled poor soul so we've all had a disturbed night. Hopefully he'll be happier tonight.
I've made a pan of lentil & bacon soup to have with crusty bread for dinner later. Lunch was a houmous, lettuce, radish and cheese roll. The radishes are very peppery - just how I like them :) .

I didn't comment, earlier, on the combination oven as I don't have one.  I did have one about 30 years ago. I think most people find that it is irritating if you're trying to do either function.  Maybe, for a few things, for some people, it works, but, like everything, it will depend on what you're cooking and how.  If, say, you've used it as an oven, you can't then toss plastic microwave-ware into it else they'd melt, so you do have to possibly rethink microwave containers and use regular oven safe dishes.
Often, too, the instructions are sparse and people are never sure which setting to put it on, for how long ... and if they should use no rack, the short rack or the high rack.

I'm going out to get a kettle in a bit, to be self-sufficient in making pot noodles.  I won't be getting any more of those pots from Mr T because the 14p packs of noodles MUST be the same product in a different wrapper ... and I have 8 empty pots already, so I'll just stock up on more 14p noodles and re-use the pots I've retained "as they might come in handy".  I might get a jar of mango sauce to pop in....
I'll also get more tinned peas ... and flatbreads... and have a look round for inspiration of what can be eaten when you're in full recluse/hideaway mode. :)
Earlier I did nuke 2 fishcakes. Just ate them with a splash of hot ketchup.  Trying to not use the nuker for a couple of weeks though.
  • I've had toast and went for a walk and now just had 3 Linda McC sausage rolls.

We have a water leak from our bathroom so the plumber from our insurance is coming over. He/she is meant to be here within 3 hours so before 4. What fun!

The weather's just turned super super nasty again.... kettle on hold until I've check if it'll be worsening now, or easing off.  I'll wish I'd gone an hour ago if I'm stuck in due to poor weather... or have to work out whether to brave the elements in any case.

It looks like it'll be getting worse :(  oh decisions, decisions.

Yes, it cleared up/sun came out, so I went for it .... but didn't get a kettle as the Mr T I went to (although large) wasn't large enough and doesn't sell them :)
I was thinking of going out to the big one, but that's 2 miles away and the weather's changed again.
    Today's haul is...
Mr T: 4 tins of peas, 1 tin of fruit, 2 packs of instant mash, 2x6-packs of doritos, bar of chocolate, box of 4 cup a soups, loaf of bread, jar of jam, 6 bananas, 6 apples, 2 packs of 14p noodles, a jar of mango chutney.
Lidl: 3x4-pack of cup a soups, box of honey/nut cornflakes, 2 packs of sweeties, a reduced sandwich, pack of 4 veggie samosas.
Might be a few more things I realise/think of in a bit (not unpacked it yet).
    I've spent £10, which isn't too bad.
    Just eaten the sandwich :)

The bread/jam = lots of jam sandwiches, which don't need butter/whatever.  I know butter doesn't need refrigerating, but still at the mulling stage of whether to get some.
