Yesterday I had my 65p Mr T lasagne (frozen). As a cheapo lasagne I'd recommend those; I found them bigger/better than others I've paid £1 for in the past. I served it with some frozen chips. Generally I avoid buying lasagne as cheapo ones are small and messy ... the Mr T ones are just a bit better than that>
This morning I've knocked up a cooked brekky: hash browns, sausages, scrambled eggs, beans, splash of brown sauce.
I really have to crack through the flatbreads and bread I bought earlier in the week; I expect to have a sausage/brown sauce flatbread later.0 -
I agree PN that lasagne is by far the best RM frozen lasagne I've had, well worth the cash. I have an "emergency" one in my freezer the only bought RM in there!
The rain is battering down and the wind picking up, my visiting cat stirred himself just before it came on and is no doubt now snoozing in his own bed:rotfl::rotfl:.0 -
I was so lazy yesterday, toast for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch and a frozen pizza for dinner. I just had leftover pizza and some crisps.:o:o:o
I have potatoes I need to use up so I am making a lentil Shepherd's pie later. :A Get some healthy veggies in me after yesterday!
I have been doing lots of housework today. The annoying thing is that I could easily afford a cleaner now as we were so frugal for so many years! The problem is that my dogs are so yappy at strangers and I don't particularly want to sit locked in my bedroom while the cleaner cleans the house for 2 hours!:rotfl:PasturesNew wrote: »https://www.artisangrains.co.uk/our-range/nut-roasts/
For many years I ate a freshly prepared nut roast every Xmas Day - it's a LOT of shopping/faff and I asked the cook of that "if you had to buy a packet that was as close to yours as possible, which would you suggest?" and they said this one. So I bought one last year, never used it, it's in storage
I have tried that, I think it was a bit dry but probably alright with gravy.:)
I used to make quite an easy nut roast recipe, I think a Rose Elliott one.unrecordings wrote: »Saw this cheeky bit of marketing creep into the news today. Morrisons launch vegan pork pies, but won't stock them in Melton Mowbray to 'avoid offending the locals'

Ooh, I'm going to try that!:Tunrecordings wrote: »On a related note, it's sausage & mash tomorrow, first try of those vegan Richmond sausages
Tell me what you think of them.0 -

I like them, look very sausagy very smooth unlike other more lumpy varieties, very much like 'proper' Richmond sausages that I remember in fact very much like the sausagemeat we used to get back in the 70's/80's. There's a vegan casing which cuts nicely Think they'll work well cold or turned into sausage rolls. As a facsimile they're good IMHO
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0 -
Good evening everyone,
There's a raging storm here and I'm very glad to be in my warm and dry house.:D
The pie filling is cooked just need to sort out the sauce and assemble it tomorrow, a pan of root veg mash is made (carrot, sweet potato and parsnip) and apples have been stewed. That'll do me for today just need to load the dishwasher now and restore some order in the kitchen. A parcel that was supposed to arrive today hasn't, I'll give to Monday evening and then chase up. Typically it contains something I wanted to post on Monday:mad:.
Easy option of spaghetti & meat balls for dinner the meatballs & sauce are from the freezer so just needs nuking while the pasta is boiling. Then it's sofa & TV for me for the rest of the evening.0 -
How annoying about the parcel Caronc
I went to the hairdresser today to cover my natural highlights :rotfl: an excuse to sit for 2 hours, drink tea, read and gossip with my hairdresser and his husband, not a bad way to send a Saturday morning. I met my sister for lunch afterwards before we attempted some Christmas shopping and a mooch around the farmers market. It's the first of the Christmas markets today so there were singers and bands in the band stand as well and some local gin to sample
I picked up a small venison joint which I got with a little bit off as she didn't have any change. My sister walked away so she didn't have to see me buy bambi
. We shared a purchase of 18 sausages, there's a 'award winning' local company who sell in the farm shops but they are cheaper in the market if you buy 18 and you can buy a selection rather than just the one variety, a pick and mix of sausages
Lunch was a very good bacon sandwich in a toasted ciabatta, lovely thick good quality bacon and three generous slices. Dinner was a veggie burger in a pita with the last of the sweetcorn I opened yesterdayLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -
I gave up covering my "natural highlights" in 2010, an op on my neck meant they couldn't be done for three months either side and afterwards I realised I quite liked my fading auburn.:) These days it's more strawberry blonde but still ask me what colour I use and are bit thrown when I say nothing this just how it is.
Sausage "pick & mix" sounds grand to me, I've visions of slices on cocktail sticks presented in an empty Quality Street tin being passed round.:rotfl:
I had a complete change of plan for dinner which ended up being veg&butterbean soup with pitta to dip. I was chatting for a while to a friend who had a fairly major op a few days ago which did go well but she's been quite poorly afterwards but thankfully picking up now and hopefully gets home tomorrow. By the time we'd finished chatting I cba even cooking pasta so it was a quick freezer rake for the first thing that came to hand. That said it was tasty so not a good alternative.:)0 -
I fear Caronc that I'm no longer a fading brunette, it's more natural highlights than original colour these days
. I'm just working out if I want to live with growing out roots and go grey

'Morning all. nice mild & sunny out, I may even have a bash at clearing the dead & frosted plants if the weather holds
Last night's pasta was OK, but it was really the wrong type, it was butterfly / bow when a tube one would've been better, but beggars can't be choosers in CFO land, use what's there
Usual porridge, plus more yoghurt onto "brew"
Lunch, has to be toast, probably with cheese grilled on top, plus HM chutney
Dinner, plan is baked spud, with salmon fillet [defrosting at the moment] & salad
Will you please stop talking about hair, a quick polish does me:D
Had a senior moment this morning, reading what's on TV listing and trying to set the TV recorder, but the electronic listings were at odds with the paper ones
Took me a few double takes, clock date, mag, TV???? Muggins has picked up next week's mag & not this weeks, Doh:o
Still rubbish on though
Hope the parcel arrives Caron, is it track-able on line? I ordered yesterday PM and it's now in Southampton, the wonders of technologyEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0
