  • I was thinking last night that the veg pulled pork reminded me of BBQ jackfruit I've had before.

Typically I just got an email saying that an item in my shopping today will be substituted with a BBQ jackfruit product!:D

I'm going to have bran flakes with sliced banana and soya milk and a berry smoothie for breakfast. HM soup and a roll for lunch again.

I had to get up early again as my concert tickets weren't delivered yesterday.:( They should be coming today as the gig is on Thursday.

I have to order another present from Am*zon too.

there was still Christmas stalls so some free samples of cheeses etc although I didn't try the chocolate cheddar, cheese shouldn't be that shade of brown

I must remember to dig out my scarves ....
I could never find colder/wetter weather small items. Gloves, hats, scarves, waterpoofs/kagouls, neck warmers, cowl scarf, a handwarmer I was given as a gift and will most likely never use ...

I'd be out using some items, come in, take them off and throw them down. At some point they'd then get "tidied", which can occur under a variety of circumstances (e.g. grabbing random stuff, shoving it in a plastic bag and tossing it behind the sofa or under the stairs). Sometimes they'd get into a drawer, sometimes in a pocket, sometimes in the car....

The problem was always that with limited space and limited furniture they never had a home, so could never be "put away in their place".

UNTIL ... bags for life :) LOVE the 4ldi ones, they're everywhere in my life. Right now, in my tiny room (7'x10') I have five in use. One of those five contains all those colder/wetter small items :) I've no drawers for clothes, so the others are for: Undies, jumpers, jeans/leggings, linens/throws/blankets.

I've another one folded in my handbag for when I go shopping and another folded one in the car for shopping... and there's probably 1-2 holding things in the boot if I looked.

For the last 2-3 years when tidying up, if I find gloves, scarf, hat I know exactly where they belong and take them immediately to the right 4ldi bag :)

I've got another 4ldi bag for "misc summer stuff"... which includes 2 faceflannels (for super hot weather they are wetted and plonked on my head), swimming costume, shorts, suncream, cheery beach towel, sunglasses. That's in storage. I've probably 10-12 filled bags in storage. I even bought extras specifically for sorting/packing when I knew I was moving.

    Good morning everyone,
I'm not tempted by chocolate cheddar_pale_ or your BOGOF offer Brambling, one sister is more than enough for me.
Shame your pulled "pork" was too sweet Wednesday, I find a lot of bbq sauces are too sweet for my taste I like them to have a good kick of vinegar in them.

These days I keep my hat, scarf & gloves in my rollator bag that way I know I have them if needed. (A folded bag for life also lives in there;))
Atrocious weather here today, much wilder than the storm that hit a few days ago. Definitely not a day for venturing out unless you have to! Needless to say I'm not:). I've had a pottering about morning, last night I popped chicken carcasses in the SC for stock so got that strained earlier. It can chill overnight in the fridge so I can lift off any fat then I'll reduce it, the resulting tub should take up much less room in the freezer than the bones did. The stoves set up and I think it will be getting lit pretty early today as it's so miserable outside. Later this afternoon once it's going I'll get some music on and sit in front of it while I do some wrapping. I might make some milky cocoa as treat to have while I'm doing so. Dinner is still firmly in the tbc camp once I've checked what's lurking in the fridge after lunch. Lunch is going to be some soup from the freezer, much as I've been enjoying the pastrami it's soup kind of weather.:)
  • My concert tickets arrived.:T

I've just written out the (very) few Christmas cards I send off to people. I am not sure if I will post them off today as it's been pouring all day here.:p

Yes, I was thinking when I eat the rest of the pork I will have it in a roll or a wrap with some mustard and some pickles to counteract the sweet taste.:)

Also pouring & windy here, Prince Charles is naming "his" aircraft carrier today, hope he brought his brolly with him;)

Into L's this morning, nothing YS tempting, but found they sell wrapping paper so that was one less job to do on Thursday. Rest of shopping was just "stuff", like chocs & cheese

Due to YS desert in L's lunch was last of the stale loaf, toasted with grilled cheese & HM chutney

Dinner is TBD, it will be a freezer scrape so could be a nuked curry or MFO of some sort.

I've taken a lump of posh FR braising steak out to defrost for tomorrow, be ideal in some kind of stew thing, with dumplings bobbing around

Now I've wrapping paper no more procrastinating, I'll have to get wrapping later

    Good evening everyone,
Something to look forward to Wednesday, who are you going to see?
I can give you some wrapping paper if you're short Farway, I have more than enough. I haven't needed to buy any cards or wrap this year!:o
The storm is showing no sign of letting up and it's causing a fair bit of disruption to roads and railways. I think there will be a lot of folk very glad to get home tonight but awful if you're homeless as mainly it's only the cities have night shelters round here.:(
I got some wrapping done and if the weather is better tomorrow I'll head to the post office to post a parcel. I had a long natter on the phone with a friend who wasn't long home soaked and blown to bits after walking her dogs. One thing I don't miss about no longer having pooches is the trailing out in all weathers to walk them.;)
CFO lasagne tonight for dinner using a tub of HM meatballs & veg sauce from the freezer and some LO bechamel from Sunday's pie. PNs mention of it gave me the notion for one. I'll have some tenderstem broccoli with it. Meal plan for the week is not much further forward, between yapping and wrapping I never got round to it and I'm lacking inspiration. I think it may well be a week of using up some of my batch cooked portions of meals from the freezer.:)

I've retrieved my winter accessories from the top shelf of the wardrobe where I had tossed them at the end of the winter, only slight wobble on the steps , I'm hopeless on steps even just two off the ground :o. I found a pair of odd gloves and I've a awful feeling I threw the other odd pair away when tidying my car a couple of months ago  I've some leather ones but these where scraping the car and walking ones

I had a day off today as I've drawn the short straw to work on Saturday, horrible weather so I did some tidying rather than going out, there's a couple more bags for the charity shop :). I've some high heel court shoes from when my job was more formal clothes than now which I've put back in the wardrobe whilst I think about them (3 pairs) I think my feet and ankle joints would complain if I wore them now  I tend to wear lower heels if going out these days :o

Lunch was some breaded salt and pepper chicken airfried in a pita bread. Dinner was cheese, crackers and an apple, I've been picking all afternoon so didn't fancy the LO lamb shanks or vegetable soup, I may have to squeeze some in the freezer

  • YS victory at the Waitrose deli counter this morning. Two joint ends (too small to go in the slicer) of two kinds of pork, I shared some of each with cat who was most appreciative. Also got some more cheese, which was a bit naughty as I already some very out of date Kaltbach. I resolved to eat that on some [STRIKE]crusty[/STRIKE] stale bread with some of last years shallots - after cutting the orange bits off

Got some more Richmond vegan sausages from Tesco, Mrs Un is getting more tempted by the idea of sausage casserole. Use by date on the ones we got today was 17th December, so maybe end of next week is the earliest time to get a pack before the holiday madness

Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?
  • I went out to post off the cards yesterday afternoon and it had stopped raining but it felt really cold. The wind was really biting. My new faux leather jacket was quite warm though. I wanted to see what it was like before I wore it out to London tomorrow night.

I had an early night so I'm up early. I have ordered a computer game as a present and a book for myself so they should be delivered later.

I had a craving for chickpea salad yesterday so I will make that later and have it in a toasted pitta, or two!:)
