Cooking for one (Mark Three)

Today there's a private tea event where I'm lodging, so I'll be keeping a low profile and not entering the kitchen as there's a lot going on. Later I'll "disappear" before that kicks off.... so I'll have to find somewhere to go. I'll no doubt end up in places like The Range, Dunelm, B&M, wandering round (looking for sweeties/crisps) and killing time.
Once back and the mayhem's finished I'll have an idea what I fancy cooking. It could be a sausage flatbread, or I might push the boat out and cook up the 67p frozen pizza0 -
Good morning everyone,
Unfortunately the package isn't trackable it will hopefully arrive on Monday.
It's wild here, very gusty and wet, it's not to improve today but due to die back overnight. It's much colder this morning than it has been over the past couple of days. Lots of crashing and banging overnight but all looks okay as far as I can see when my son's up in a couple of weeks he'll check the roof but I don't think I've any slates off.
I'm not CFO tonight but looking forward to having company for dinner. Two courses isn't something I usually bother with but my nephew has hollow legs and a enjoys a pud. I've not made an Eve's pudding for years I'm looking forward to it and I'm hoping there might LOs:).
Lunch will be a sarnie either a BLT or some more of the pastrami.0 -
I've never heard of Eve's pudding Caronc. I do like apple puddings, though. I love apple crumbles or even just stewed apples with custard, mmm.
I made HM soup yesterday instead of a Shepherd's pie. Oh well, i still got my veggies in.:D
I put in peas, red lentils, potatoes and spinach. it was lovely and thick when blended up. I made loads, three more days of leftovers so I will have a bowl with some wholemeal bread later.:A
I just had the last of the Violife cheese with crackers.unrecordings wrote: »I like them, look very sausagy very smooth unlike other more lumpy varieties, very much like 'proper' Richmond sausages that I remember in fact very much like the sausagemeat we used to get back in the 70's/80's. There's a vegan casing which cuts nicely Think they'll work well cold or turned into sausage rolls. As a facsimile they're good IMHO
I know, I was very surprised how good they were! I'm very glad that now meat companies are jumping on the vegan bandwagon.:rotfl::T0 -

I've had it in the past in works' canteens. Served hot with custard.
I've had 2 bits of toast so far today. Going out in a bit... wandering. It's a shame the Sunday market/indoor market/covered car boot closes at 2pm, else I'd go there for an hour's shuffle... to kill time.0 -
Yep it's a sponge baked on top of stewed apples served straight from the oven, it's nice and easy to make:).0

After a wet and windy night (I got up to close the window) it's been grey this morning but dry. My delivery was quoted as between 12.15 and 15.15 so I decided to do a few chores outside the house before 12. Car has been washed (not by me
) filled with petrol and air (by me
) I've picked up some garden vouchers for a gift as easier to post, dropped off some sausages back at my sister's as I miscounted when dividing them yesterday  and came home via the pet shop where I used a voucher to pick up enough food for his lordship until after Christmas. I was home just as my phone pinged to say they were 4 stops away
.
The early delivery meant I could brave the tip, a job I've been putting off as it is always really busy at weekends, I went lunchtime and there were only a couple of cars in front. They have started turning people away with no proof of address from this month, it seems we can't have people from out of the county using our facilities  I went prepared, driving license at the ready
annoyingly I got home to realised one item I meant to take was still sitting in the hall, that's been popped in the garage for now
I was hungry when I got back so lunch was an apple and some cheddar. Dinner will be lamb shank, I took the two small shoulder ones out of the freezer, I may oven cook them and fill the oven rather than get the pressure cooker out as I don't plan to go back out again. I've plenty of veg to go with them and as I'm meeting my sister tomorrow in Chichester it may be a easy dinner, depending on how we lunchLife shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

It chucked it down here about 1430 plus blowing a hooley, Yellow weather warning until tomorrow. Hope you found cover before hand
The garden tidying was binned due to the wind & rain:j
My package arrived [dvds], less than 24 hours from ordering. I know the tax methods are not as one may wish but the service is good
It was cheese on toast for lunch, spud is now baking. I'll pop the salmon fillet foil parcel in laterEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
I watched the Countryfile weather for the week ahead Farway it looks like we're in for a battering this week
I think cooking the lamb shanks in the oven was a mistake, they took longer than expected tonight I'm hoping it's them and not the oven. I threw in some pearl barley part way through and twenty minutes before the end there may have been dumplings added to the pot :whistle:Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin0 -

(Richmond vegan sausages)
Going to try them in a good old fashioned sausage casserole, brown them first and I think they'll work quite well without trying to dissolve or going mushy
Why am I in this handcart and where are we going ?0
