And don't always go looking for something for you to give up / do without to save a few quid. You are in this as a family...!

Well that week didn't go to plan!

Sunday after I post I realised DS1 was getting worse so we went to out of hours GP who sent him straight to hospital. Just there for 4 hours or so until they were happy that his body was fighting a virus rather than a head injury (he had come home with a big bump from school a few days before).

When home I managed to get all my week prep and batch cooking done, pulled pork was already in slow cooker before leaving for docs.

On Monday I started to feel really ill at work, and got through it but then almost passed out just before the end of work. Guessing its the same virus - like a flu - that DS1 had and I have been in bed fighting Mon - Fri of this week.

Oh well, when you are ill, you are ill!

Some food got thrown away, and we used easy meals, DS1 had school lunches when he returned rather than packed lunches, homework was a bit flung together - but we survived.

I'm not doing anything today - I'll put together a slow cooker curry for later. I've a grocery delivery coming for tomorrow (£12 off a 60 spend, so I stocked up on staples and it still came in under budget), and out for tea tomorrow night at relatives.

January hasnt been so great this year with illnesses and injuries, but a lot of people have it much worse - and for years on end not just one month. Hats off to those people really ill / longer term illnesses and still so positive :).

Wonder if having so much stress at work contributed to me being completely knocked to the ground with flu? Looking forward to January ending, February is going to be so much better!!

If I am feeling better, I might make progress on the following next week. If I'm not better, or if I don't achieve anything, it doesn't matter - I'll be taking it slow.

    1. Finish clean and tidy at work
    2. regular beach walks +recycle some plastic
    3. try new workout /yoga/back care routine.
    4. banking check and kids reg saver
    5. focus on healthy eating and hydration.

Sorry to hear about the poorlies, alarming to have to take DS1 to hospital but good all ended well. Sounds like a good idea to be giving yourself a break and concentrating on making sure you are completely recovered before launching into big plans.

If you miss a week it will all still be there waiting for you ;)

That sounds really scary at the hospital, earthie, sorry to hear all that, but glad it wasn't a head injury.

Okay, viruses. Thing is, if you push yourself as you're recovering from a virus, that's when, a year or so down the road, you can find it's become chronic fatigue - and then you're out for **years**, like I was. So I'm really glad to see the last bit of your post, "If I'm not better, or if I don't achieve anything, it doesn't matter - I'll be taking it slow."

We did a similar thing with dd a few years back - took her to the out of hours dr at the hosp. She ended up having full-blown proper flu, which I got the following day. We spent that week sleeping and dh had to have 2 days off work as I was fit for nowt. By the Weds, we'd recovered enough to spend the day on the sofas (dd bagged the larger on, of course!) and watched ceebeebies all day. I remember being glad when they repeated the programmes, as that required a lot less concentration!

I agree with karma - a virus is not a good thing. It gets into your muscles and takes a long time to shift. (and your heart is a muscle...) Do take good care of you and yours. Your number 5 is the key one,
