Earthgirl's Final Battle

Very stressful situation for my friend, I hope she's ok. It has made me really grateful for all I have.
Monday was hard - everyone back to school/work. School bus broke down, OHs car broke down and he was sad about selling something - end of an era. On the plus side, I managed a brilliant walk on Monday in town, and today I found a great walk near school. I did my strength workout and meditation in a clearing in the woods near a waterfall - just amazing and two steps from my normal route. Found the path on google earth.
Im looking in charity shops for presents for Xmas 20. I don't want to spend more than normal, so I am looking out for nice things for £3/4 so I can put them together.
Bought cheap Xmas paper and cards for pennies.
Spent £10 of my Xmas money on a new leather jacket - its really fitted and biker style, and a reg@tta winter coat - really lovely and fits so well!
This will save me money as I'd have had to buy one next year. I need to be careful that I don't spend randomly in the charity shops.
I need:
10 male presents (3 of these slightly bigger)
5 female presents (4 of these big)
2 neighbour presents
1 x mums birthday
2 x mothers day
1 x fathers day
I know that I could bake things and make things but I'm just not that good and don't have a lot of free time at home, so the charity shop thing gets me walking, saves time at home and is supporting charities.
My no sugar baking has been going well - kids enjoying pancakes and scones for snacks so far. Still got a lot to do but getting there!15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Thanks my friend is doing ok!
I'm so glad it's almost Friday!! This week has gone really well. I've had loads more energy but I don't know why. I guess I have completely shaken off the virus I had last week, I've been walking more and eating better. I've done all of my daily to do list (my reward is a pamper night on Fri) and I'm really enjoying having everything in my diary instead of lists here and there.
It means my diary is prefilled each day with the things I need to do which I thought I'd hate - but I LOVE it. There is only space for 3 extra to dos every day - arghh - but it works because that's all I actually have time to do. The rest of the time I do need to be doing work on ohs business/ surveys/ cleaning/ exercise/ making breakfast/ lunches/ teas/ packing bags etc. So having it all in my diary every day to cross off with only a little space for extra tasks means I'm expecting less of myself and remembering to do the important necessary things.
I've also been loving my countryside walks and charity shop walks at break/lunch. I work with other staff during the rest of the day - I'm not isolating myself and the little walk I do is so beautiful and gets my steps up to 10k.
I found 6 female presents for Mothers day, birthdays and xmas 20 - for £15 which has gone to charity via charity shops, and saved me a lot.
I'm sticking to my £50 shopping budget per week well, but I need a fairly big shop on Friday and hope to get it for £31.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Thanks beanie. Yes I just need to find male presents. And it's not xmas 20 I'm shopping for its 19! getting totally confused with my years!
Anyway, lovely end to the week. Shopping was £8 over budget and me buying healthy snacks has been the problem. Its definitely a problem and I need to not buy anymore now. We are full of fruit and nut based snacks and I really don't need anymore.
The upshot is that I have completely lost the sugar cravings and feel totally free and in control - now to keep that going. Things with the kids are going well too, although the school lunches are a bit hit and miss!
DS1 has hurt his hamstring which scuppered our Saturday plans yesterday. I need to have a few things planned for when this happens as it was hard work yesterday for lots of reasons. I ended up really tired and needed a nap - why when I normally have so much energy? NSD but not one of my best!!
Anyway I cooked a really nice qu0rn meatballs meal, and we had family film night which was lovely.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Glad to hear its not 2020 you're shopping for
And *very* well done on losing the sugar cravings, thats really impressive - I still don't keep sugary snacks in the house, even though I don't eat them regularly at all, if I do have them, eg over Christmas, they go all at once.
Sorry to hear DS got hurt - but your family evening sounds lovely, I bet *everyone* ennoyed it2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks Karma, today has been so much better, thanks to OH. Explained how I was feeling and he said I put too much pressure on myself to be 'supermum'. Yesterday they looked through activity sticks and made a few choices. We baked cookies, wrote a comic book and played a few board games, which I just have to accept for a rest day. Today OH has helped to make sure things are a bit easier for me.
So here are my goals and my '1 thing per day' that I am doing to get me moving ever so slightly forward with each thing.
Health!
Beat Sugar addiction - done. MAINTAIN! - weekly check in on Wednesday
Reduce sugar intake for family - educate them, research new recipies, try new recipies - Done - MAINTAIN. Monthly check in
Continue healthy diet and hydration started in 2018 - review Monthly check in
Regular yoga and meditation (me and kids) - Kids don't like doing yoga every day where as I love 'self care yoga' I think I am going to do this in the evening and ask them if they want to do it too rather than us all do the kids yoga and no one enjoy it. Action - Self care yoga pm.
Regular strength exercise - maintain new habit
10000 steps per day - walk every lunch time, charity shops and job spotter maintain
Regular beach walks - sat and sun -pick up litter - START - this has not been done. Think of ways to make this easier and just start.

Ahem. Your OH agrees with us that you try to be supermum. Stop the effort! No one is going to achieve for you, its true, but no one is going to relax and nourish your reserves for you, either :kisses3:
