Thanks! I'm a little worried about making them too frightened of the world, - or sounding on here like I do that - but I'm hoping that I can be quite casual about it and stop them having problems in the future- the kinds of problems that can cause major issues in the future.

So, also wanted to point out that my kids only do 1 activity per week - football is their choice, plus a kind of local scouts group. I don't have to pay for all the other things parents seem to send them to if I teach them myself and just play with them! We do some spanish games, teach a bit of self defence and do the 'you are awesome' book exercises and teach swimming without paying a penny and I'm hoping that this will also be a way of helping/avoiding problems in the future. Self esteem is so important and I just want to shake all these young people I work with and say 'you are so beautiful/kind/funny/clever' but they just can't see it..

Anyway moneysaving because we are doing it ourselves and not outsourcing lessons.

I'm on a big simplyfying/moneysaving and money making push at the moment, with my tiny bit of free time! I have some new ideas - watch this space!!

    xx

Well that took me a lot longer than I thought! I decided to set up a utube channel and just do a couple of videos per week about paying off debt and my mortgage. I have lots of things that I must improve, and I didn't realise that I had to get a lot of subscribers before I can monetise videos! Oh well never mind!

I'd really appreciate if anybody had a few mins to watch my first video and subscribe if you don't mind - its a chance to see what I look like haha!! and give me any feedback - I think I talk too slowly?! Maybe it's my brain working too slowly though!

    https://youtu.be/sKvfhYuwg_8

So now the challenge is to upload a few videos per week, without it impacting on my other work. It's my friends that have encouraged me to do it as (as well as thinking I am totally crazy sometimes) they say I should publish my experiences and ideas in a blog - but filming is much more my thing.

ANYWAY I'd really appreciate any views likes subscribes etc. because I am not sure if this is the right path or not ??

My next videos are free cheap entertainment , free things to do with the kids, not buying maternity clothes and living cheaply with kids.... I have got over 40 ideas mapped out but limited time to actually film and edit!

Great video, would be really nice to have a blog to click through too as well with your complete back story.

    Keep going!!

  • Wow Earth Girl! Nice to *meet* you :)

I certainly would love to see more videos from you, we are still in the process of paying off our first home and these kinds of tips and tricks are useful (especially when the people around you don't understand why on earth you would want to 'give' the bank money), and sometimes on forums, these tips can get lost in a flurry of replies, so it's good to have them in one place.

Defo support a blog too - some people prefer reading blogs. I know it would be work, but there is an American money saving lady who actually tells people that she transcribes her videos as opposed to trying to do the video and blog as two separate projects.

So, even if a blog isn't the route for you at the minute, you could always go back and transcribe videos in the future to use on a blog platform x

Hi Earthgirl! Nice to watch your video this morning, hello :) you definitely don't talk too fast, it was just right. What you *do* do is swallow your words a bit? I didn't catch the name, had to scroll down to see the title while you were speaking. The name, in particular, needs to be out there! I appreciate its the first one, you must have been *so* nervous! Good for you for doing it - its a great idea.

Look for some freebie kindle books on monetizing, whether its a blog or a youtube channel - thats what I started to do with the cats and the travel thing before I got ill. How to publicise is the holy grail, basically :)

40 things to do with the kids? Not all in the same video! You're in it for the long haul if you're going to do it - five at a time, maybe?

Needhelpsaving's idea of transcribing the videos to form a blog is a great idea - thats part of the thing about having multiple streams that feed in to your monetising part. Pictures of your own chutney, recreating the setup in your car when you slept in it, your fruit bushes in full bloom. Careful of showing your kids' faces, though.

    Good luck with it!

Thanks - such great tips! I will follow your advice!!
Such good friends on here x

It is a rubbish video - lighting, branding and editing all below par, as it was my first time, but I will get better - and you are right about getting little vt's (is that what they are called?) to make it more interesting.

Karma - I have hundreds of titles and bullet points for about 40. All different things about our journey and our decisions - about 3 about kids and the rest are just general.

So I have uploaded another video to youtube, which is a bit better than the last. I have taken your advice and put little bits of vt in it here and there. I don't think I got my numbers right - it takes quite a lot of work to pull together. I think I'll keep going with it though.

I really appreciate the people who took the time to watch and support and leave me some feedback. It would be great to set up and keep going.

Adding another straw to my back is hard though, and I obviously need to find time to improve my filming and promote them. I'm also busier than ever at work - drowning level, OHs business is reviving and I'm needed to work on that, I have loads of gardening to do and a friend that I need to keep visiting and helping.

This is all ontop of my normal busy life, so I'll have a go at rejigging things around to fit everything in !
