Sounds like you have found somewhere to direct your focus though with the films? Also means you can share all that experience with other people and pass on ideas :cool:0

Thanks for the encouragement, which I needed this morning. I am so far away from making the monetisation levels on youtube for subscribers and I'm not sure what to do. I was going to stop, but I think now I'm getting a bit better and have a fair few videos now. I should probably rethink it a little. I need to do 4 mornings a week on it, which means I need to find other times to work on OHs business. Then if its not working in another month, rethink again.
I'm a bit worried as it would have been a perfect side hustle.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

These things take time, you need to get yourself across all platforms too so people can find you. Instagram is a great way of doing some quick instant filming (insta stories) that will pull people in. Once you're established with a blog, YouTube and other social platforms you'll start to get the following you need for the pennies to start coming in."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Hi EG,
I think that perhaps you need to give it longer, as people who are interested in your content may not have found you yet. Obviously, only you can make the call on this, but youtube is a slow burner in terms of monetizing.
Perhaps consider partnering with other youtubers to reach new audiences - many of them do that to expand their scope. Also, perhaps you could bulk film/edit and schedule your uploads to try to reduce time spent cultivating your channel.
I have no idea how to do that, but am aware that other youtubers do this to save time in having to keep setting up equipment over and over.2022 Target - Reduce new mortgage balance after house move - Part 1 (Ported) Starting balance £39,982.12 currently £37,242.19 Part 2 Starting Balance £101,997.88 currently £96,197.38 (as at 19/04/2022)0 -
It's definitely slow burn, earthgirl - you've hardly been at it any time at all! Another month isn't going to do anything, not really. If you're spending four mornings a week on this - I think thats too much time for such a slow burn, to be honest, sorry.
I don't know how much you do to publicise - if the only thing you're doing is to mention it on here, or wait for word of mouth on youtube, you need to do more, I feel bad just writing that.
- search engine optimisation, especially what tags you use.
- comment on other people's blogs and videos, get your name out there.
- is there a community of youtubers?
- have you read any of the freebies that are on kindle?
Good luck!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks for the advice - I know I need to do all that so thanks for giving me a plan
I have set up all the social media accounts, no website but I have a plan and I'm used to SEO/websites/marketing from working on OHs business.
I have limited time at the moment - hence maybe i'll up my work on it to 4 mornings (6am - 7.50).
I really hope it will work. OH and I have just decided that I won't go back to online teaching as it used to stress me out so much having to work 7 days. I was emailed to ask to come back but I don't think its worth the stress and inconvenience.
Work should be getting quieter too so I will have less marking of an evening too.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

I have a plan!!
I am going to try and split my time a hour every day each on OHs business and ytube work. I am also going to make sure I don't turn into someone I call 'laptop mum'. A person that sits in the corner on my laptop!
I'm going to work smarter (I hope) I have a few ideas on how to get extra time - I can visit my friend after school instead of on my lunch break. I can go running in my lunch breaks I hope- I'm getting on really well with running! Haven't quite worked out the shower/hair etc.
I've made a free website with free hosting, I know its not as good as paid hosting but as I'm just dabbling this will allow me to do it with no outlay. I've started the basic promotion of this, but I'll do more in the new few days. So I'm quite happy with my new system of managing my time. I managed to get my debt free/mortgage free journey video done this morning without feeling guilty that I wasn't doing something else....

BUT -there is something wierd going on with my hair it looks really patchy at the front which I haven't noticed before. Arghh what a time to start a youtube channel if I'm going to have hair problems15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

So some good news and some bad news...
I was at the docs for something related to my back anyway, and asked him about my weird patchy hair. He thinks its alopecia (sp?) so I am referred to the dermatologist. The good thing is that I have caught it really early (thanks to watching myself on film haha!!) and it might just settle down. I could put some lotion on - not free - but it generally doesn't work for patchy hair so I think I'll just wait and see what the dermatologist says. And relaxing apparently is key.
The good news is it's just how I look and there are much more important things in life, like being happy and healthy. I'm not going to worry about it! And I'll carry on filming because I want to.
Some odd purchases to note - £5 spent on a lovely Christmas jumper for next year. I was hoping to find one in my size in the charity shops but haven't managed so far.
£3 spent on coloured hair spray for the kids as it's comic relief and they have an odd hair day instead. £6 given to charity too (not so weird!).15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Earthgirl, I just googled alopecia - I know nothing about it, but its listed as an autoimmune disease? Like mine with arthritis and cfs .... please don't ignore it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
