The switching service closes the old bank account. You can't ask for it to remain open. You said this yourself above !
Yes and once the switching process starts, your old account will be closed and there's nothing that can be done to stop that happening.

They are a member of the FSCS so just as safe as any other bank that is a member. They haven't got any current offers that would make them top but if they offer you what you are after then go for it.

I've just opened a TSB Classic Plus account. I'm intending to use it as a savings account so am hoping to keep a balance of 2k in it all the time. If I pay £500 in per month to fulfill the funding obligations does it have to stay in for a day or can I transfer it out again the same day?
3 stone down, 3 more to go

Open another then transfer both ways on the same day as standing order.

This would have to be a joint Plus account, which might not be convenient. Or a sole Classic account, which doesn't sound a very good place to keep any money in.

Are two classic plus not allowed any more?

    Not sole, no.

    1 sole + 1 joint.

Though I understand if you already have one, you can open another. However, I haven't checked the T&C

Must have changed then, me and my wife have 6 between us. 2 sole + 2 joint.
