The app which generates the codes also stops working when either the app or your phone iOS updates. This happened 3 times to me and the call centre confirmed this was not a one off
I had that twice myself, too. Huge inconvenience to set up all over again. I have mobile apps of 8 other banks and not had any such issues with any of the others.
  • Hi

I left my last job in October, had a break for a bit, then started my new job (different employer) today.

I've just seen the £125 offer from First Direct re: switching bank accounts. I've been thinking about doing this for a while, and this would motivate me to finally act.

However, I don't have current 'evidence' of salary payments into my existing current account. Will that go against me?

    Thanks.

They won't be checking, or indeed have access to, account history for the account being switched.

However, as FD are known to be picky you might wish to try one of the others paying an incentive instead...unless you've already had them all or fancy the 5% regular saver as well?

Does anyone know if the M&S Current Account is available to residents of Northern Ireland? Asked on their website but they never got back to me.

I see M&S have finally replied to me after a week. No coincidence also the same day they have cut their reward rates

Personally, I found them easy to deal with:-)
It's mainly information about the account you are switching - details that can be found on your bank card, and a whole load of T&C's stuff. Takes about 10 minutes.

    Nationwide:
    To open this account:
You need to be 18 or over and a main current account customer with us. This means you must either:
    • Hold a FlexOne account and be aged 18 or over, or hold a FlexAccount and:
      • have been paying in £750+ a month for the last 3 months (excluding transfers from any Nationwide account held by you or anyone else); or
      • completed an account switch to us (from a non-Nationwide account) using our Current Account Switch Team in the last 4 months; or
    • Hold a FlexStudent account and have paid in £1,500 in 2 or more transactions in the last 12 months.
    • Hold a FlexDirect or FlexPlus account.
    http://www.nationwide.co.uk/products/savings/flexclusive-regular-saver/features-and-benefits

Nowhere it says that you have to switch, but
    • if you don't, you have to wait for 3 months;
    • you can get £100+ for switching, that is comparable to the yearly interest that Flexclusive Regular Saver generates.
Neither you have to switch for other banks to get access to their regular saving accounts.

Several times I have had problems processing a payment. I log in, ask to move money out of my current account only to get a message saying there's a problem, please try later. This has happened 2 or 3 times now over a number of weeks. This morning there is a message saying that there is a problem. I can ring but one has to pay for that number and I want online banking to do online banking, not have to phone in the hope that call centre access is better - it probably won't be and my call will be a waste of time and money.
This has got to the point where I am not sure I will keep this account, even though I get £10 a month if I stay.
