NatWest £125 switch incentive

I had an account with FD about 8 years ago which I left dormant. Until recently they refused my switching bonus application. I called them as their response suggested and they were very pleased to offer me the MSE switch incentive - at last:T:T
Broju, this is a good news.
Would please elaborate how did you that. I understand that
- You already have account dormant with them for 8 years and you have not closed it.
- You switch and other account to first direct. Is it a full switch (e.g the old AC is closed) or not a full switch.
- You called them and they were offering you a switching incentive of £150 (?). Is is a switching incentive or compensation because you have closed your old account??

....it is indeed this Activation Code I need to begin with.
They also state within this email:
We'll send you an activation code separately – if we have your mobile number we'll send it by text within 48 hours, if not you'll receive a letter in 7-10 days.
Well they haven't sent the activation code by text even though they have my number and have been sending me other updates, about my switch progressing, to it.
Poor experience so far.
Still awaiting this activation code - I have everything else apart from this (and patience)! Three days (after Customer number email) and counting. Think four is the record on here....0 -

Just to summarise - you can register for internet banking either using your username and activation code that they send you OR you can register using your username and debit card (and account number and sort code)
If you go the debit card route then the account number is not on the debit card if you don't have it by letter then you need to call them and ask for it0 -
I originally switched to NatWest for the switching bonus but somehow I think I might stay with them for a while
They are so cute all these emails and texts most of which are contradictory make me smile which doesn't often happen with a bank
I also went into the branch and they were so happy and helpful even though there was nobody else there the place was deserted apart from the woman on the door welcoming you and the Man Behind the Counter silly I know but they have kind of won my heart!0 -
Still getting the same message even though the card reader has been activated. Oh well the joys of dealing with a dinosaur of a bank.
I rang them and a lovely lady wanted to be my best friend and call me Mable. I said lets keep it professional and formal. That said she went on to say the debit cards come ready for use and not to worry about trying to activating online.0 -
Finally received the activation code and logged on to internet banking, only now I can’t logon again, nothing happens when I tap Login after entering all my credentials. Clearing cookies let’s me login but the same problem occurs when I try a second time. Additionally, I get page not found for the nwolb URL unless I clear cookies first.
Anyone else have this issue? I’m on an iPad running the latest iOS.
I had exactly this problem yesterday, but it seems to have been sorted out today and the internet banking seems to be working again.buyhighselllow wrote: »Just a quick query..I paid in £1500 before "the switch", but after the account was opened"..I presume it will still trigger the payment, does it matter ? I was happy to pay in early as started using the account for my contactless day to day spending
Switch completed on 23rd, but I had already transferred £1500 into the account on the 22nd, but according to the T&C that should be acceptable to get the bonus.Ordered a card reader a few days ago. In meantime went to activate the debit card online but when click on the Activate A New Debit Card option in the menu it comes up saying “Unfortunately this option is not available to you.
This is because it is not appropriate to your particular account on-line, or does not apply to customers under 16 years. For further assistance please refer to Support Centre.” Anyone else had the same? Same message when a relative tries to activate their’s too.
I’ve used the account for a couple of transactions and I’m removing the £1500 in chunks over a few days, so as not to spook the “fraud team”.
Once the money is back where I want it, I’m hoping I can sit back and get the bonus. :cool:A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.0 -
Well my Natwest account is open, debit card and pin arrived, and thanks to a very kind lady at Natwest customer services online banking set up and running, circumnavigating the activation text that failed to show up.
£1500 moved in and out again, and switch already underway.
The lady at customer services confirmed a theory I've had for a while. Allot of these bank card readers appear identical other than colour and branding, but they are also interchangeable. As long as you have activated "a" card reader with Natwest, then card readers provided and branded by some other banks will work.
I activated an old RBS Card Reader, and then used it to add another account as a payee and then transfer my £1500 to where it came from. I then used a Nationwide Card reader to set up another payee, and that worked too.
So if anyone waiting for a Natwest Card Reader that has an RBS, Nationwide or Co-op/Smile one (although not tried that one yet myself) may be able to get things moving even quicker payment wise.0 -
