Perked myself up by making a pear and ginger cake, then made chicken katsu with turmeric rice, broccoli and carrots (and a side of a gin and tonic 😉). The moths in DH’s wallet are safe from takeaway spends once more 😂
Mr F has moths in his wallet too.
Dinner was hm pizza + baked cheese scone round.

  • @happydenial glad you have had a better day...Friday is always a good day with a whole weekend of possibilities ahead. Your pear and ginger cake sounds gorgeous! Home schooling is tough nowadays as the expectations from government have shifted form being 'childcare' to covering everything they would have if they were in school. I see it from the other side being in education and I am in awe of how fantastic parents are being. No matter how much they get done as this differs for everyone's home circumstances, their willingness to try to do their best for their children is inspiring. Don't worry about getting everything done; just focus on what your child needs and what you have to give in terms of support and find a happy medium. No one knows them better than you do and schools will be happy if just some of the work is being done and recognise all children are different.

I had chicken stuffed with spinach, cream cheese and garlic with halloumi fries and salad.

@goldfinches husband mostly cooks on a Friday night but he has always done things around the house.  I usually don't mind cooking, when i cook he does clear up after me. It's just the way we have rumbled along together.  And yes he does clean the loo, he also does all the washing. I put my worn clothes in the washing basket and they reappear in my wardrobe or drawers ready to wear again.

Tonight I'm going to have a go at making a thai curry. Husband is having prawns in his. Daughter and I just vegetables.
  • Kerri_gt - I was also about to ask about the LO prosecco 🤣🤣🤣
rachsecret - thank you for your kind words, I think a lot of us are beating ourselves up re. not dropping any balls, and we all just have to do what we need to do to get through this sanity intact 🤞 Roll on the warmer weather and lighter evenings.

We are having HM pizza tonight (dough currently proving underneath the living room radiator 😂) - one pepperoni, one veggie, with veg sticks/salad and fish bites on request from youngest.

The pear and ginger cake is gorgeous, I actually used Mary Berry’s easy apple cake recipe, subbed the apples for pears and 2 tsps of ground ginger for the almond essence. Very quick and simple 👍

@kerri_gt - lovely bottle, is it very MSE of me to be thinking that the foil would make a lovely Christmas decoration and that I could refill the bottle with my homemade blackcurrant liqueur?
@JIL - does he have any single and likeminded friends who can also put up shelves? Seriously if you could write about "rumbling on together" as cogently as you write here you could retire in whatever luxury you desired. Lots of problems are caused by people sharing space with others and not getting along in all sorts of ways, think it over.
@happydenial - I'm sorry that some are beating themselves up over something which isn't their fault. Definitely keep those sticks and balls for playing with in the park. I'm a big fan of the Tom and Jerry cartoons and have visions of you as the maid and B*ris as Tom being walloped the length of Whitehall, that would cheer us all up!

I'm just having salad and fruit for dinner as I had toast and marmite with fried mushrooms and an egg for brunch at 10 and still feel full.
