I’m struggling to help my cantankerous 92 year old FIL too - if Coronavirus doesn’t get him first, I’ll probably end up throttling him 🤣. It’s taken me two full days to get him to write a list of what he wants to eat over the next week, so that I can go and do the shopping. He’s very particular about brands etc, and was really grumpy that I couldn’t get his favourite type of bread. He simply doesn’t grasp the severity of the situation, at all. He actually phoned up his local Waitrose to remind them he has been a customer of theirs for many years, so they should let him have whatever groceries he wants 🤣 I just despair.
Anyhow ... for supper tonight I’m making a home-made pizza loaded with all sorts of toppings (spicy minced beef, peppers, chillis, several different cheeses etc) with garlic bread, salad and coleslaw.3 -
CJ - 🤣🤣 hope things settle soon for all the older generations, a new normal 🙄 MIL is furious that the footy is cancelled......
chicken and mushroom pie with mash and broccoli tonight
going to attempt to go shopping today, we actually need loo roll 😱Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I’ve realised my post from yesterday sounded unkind - I do understand that my elderly father in law is set in his ways, and doesn’t really comprehend what’s going on. I think my patience was just wearing a bit thin!
Today I am making beef burritos.
Usually younger daughter would come and join us for supper on a Wednesday but she’s a primary school teacher, and over half her class are off sick (they have norovirus doing the rounds as well as everything else) so we have sadly agreed not to see each other in person for a while, just Face Time.3 -
honestly, its nice to hear someone else wants to throttle too! hes promised me he will stay in today..... we will see! i made him sweet and sour portions last night and a chicken curry too so hes going to have plenty food, i thought maybe we could do a meal plan tonight so he knows what he is having each day
iv got a mince and onion dumpling top pie, cheesy mash and peas for tea - its all i could get to be honest!

Klew I swear we're all going to keel over from stress trying to look after our elders never mind Covid-19 at this rate!
IM I am missing the footie too - they've just announced 'at least' off until 30th April
C_J norovirus is definitely something you don't want with current toilet roll situations!
Klew your dinner tonight sounds really nice, I have food in and now because I know it's difficult to get other things...I don't want what I have(I was also a little ambitious on the batch cooking : freezer space ratio and thus am not sure I can really face sausage casserole for the 4th night running.

We having beef stew and HM bread tonight, should be LO to freeze for another day.Hubby was decidedly miffed, when I told him the other half of the chicken and mushroom pie from yesterday was not for him to graze on, but for tomorrow’s dinner - I’ve told him I am bringing in rationing, our waistline’s will thank us 🤣Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I'm bringing in rationing too, IM and have told Mister C J that he can't just eat his way through the larder at will. He's terrible for wanting crisps, snacks and chocolate - I have had to hide my stock!
We are finishing up the chilli beef burritos from last night, they were very nice. Younger daughter called round earlier to collect a bag of shopping which I had left for her in the garage, and we had to just chat through the (closed) dining room window. It felt sad
I'm very glad that BoJo mentioned in his daily briefing today that the first UK patient has been enrolled in a Coronovirus vaccine trial, and that vaccines are on their way, much faster than anticipated. I have had this knowledge for a little while and had to keep quiet about it. I hope people will be reassured, things are looking promising.3 -
CJ my DH is exactly the same, grazes all day, he does a strenuous job, but still 🙄
LO chicken and mushroom pie with chips and salad tonight - we’ll share a bottle of wine and a bar of chocolate rather than our normal Friday night pub, we’ve not been out socially for 3 weeks for various reasons = hail the new normal.
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Porridge, we're down to two meals a day because we're less active and we've cut portion size too for the same reason and also to make what we have in the cupboard go as far as it will before we have to venture out for anything else and risk picking up the virus or being caught in the panic.5

Funny, if I end up working from home I too am going to go down to 2 meals a day, a later breakfast/brunch and then my tea later on – I wont be as active but I will try not to scoff either! The dumpling pie surprised me as to how nice it was! Def buy it again – who knows for tonights tea but egg on toast for lunch
